Wanted to start this thread in anticipation of the "new" solvent Kleenxtract. The order I placed for a gal. over a month ago has not arrived. I was assured by the nice folks at Kleen that my order had shipped 3 weeks ago...
Anyone else tried this yet? Any responses are welcome. I am interested to see if this will trump my usual ethanol solvent.

I saw a video about product. Looked like a one size fits all concentrate juice. I will monitor this thread. Sounded too good to be true ( I bought a Phototron in the 80's) but I have been amazed every step of this vape journey. So much has changed over the years. Please keep us informed about resolution and use.

Concentrate juice? Its ethanol. My personal best extraction is when I use everclear which is 95% alcohol by volume and very hard/expensive to get in this state. Kleen is actually cheaper for me.

This is 100% ethanol which is just better for extraction purposes. They have the MSDS on their site.

Personally I'm super excited to try it, but I don't have money to buy it and buds to extract at the moment. Just using what I have piled up and paying some bills for a bit, then back to extracting ASAP, starting this stuff.

Kushdaddy on /r/cannabisextracts has ordered some. He used to make amazing hash with iso. I begged him to try ethanol. He finally got everclear and from what I've seen/heard it looks amazing and he says it tastes better than the iso. Kleen should be a step up from that even, though probably not as drastic as a step from iso to everclear, and it'll be interesting to see how much benefit there is from 5% less water. My guess is slight flavor improvement and a much easier/faster purge.

I actually can't think of a reason why you'd need to heat purge at all. If it is 100% ethanol, and you were patient enough, it should evaporate fully on its own at room temperature fairly fast. Also, I can't say with 100% confidence but I don't believe a dish full of ethanol is explosive in amounts we are talking about for extraction, but "only" super incredibly flammable. Maybe one of the others can confirm or deny that, I'd like to know myself. My understanding is it is flammable. Still dangerous, but to me a lot safer and more manageable than butane which can explode fairly easily. Of course either can be done safely, and I've done both safely. I just think its an added bonus if true. I'd rather start a fire than blow up any day, then again I take care to do neither...

100% etoh is hygroscopic (absorbs h20) and when opened to the atmosphere drops to around 95%. Thus, I do not really see an advantage of this over EverClear...unless it is more favorable on the wallet.

I was under the impression that there's a federal tax on 100% ethanol. I enquired about it a couple of years ago here in California to make tincture, and I was told of it. Laws could have changed, or I misunderstood the person on the other side of the line.

Tax is included in the price. They tell how much of the price is tax.

its listed as ethyl alcohol... not ethanol on the site so maybe there is some fine print were not seeing that allows its sale as such...

btw ethyl and ethanol are the same thing.

is this stuff denatured at all? I dont remember reading if it was...

They say its 100% organic. Is there any additive that is organic that would make it denatured?

im gonna say its not if its all organic. cause...

    1. Denatured alcohol

    2. Denatured alcohol or methylated spirits is ethanol that has additives to make it poisonous, extremely bad tasting, foul smelling or nauseating, to discourage recreational consumption. In some cases it is also dyed. Denatured alcohol is used as a solvent and as fuel for spirit burners and camping stoves.
edit: I see where @DieHard noted the tax is included in price.

This stuff looks like it could be a winner, especially for those of us who can't get Everclear (at least I can now get 99ISO thanks to @2clicker pointing me to Grainger)(and now I will have to learn QWET if I am to use the Kleen?). I'm not placing an order until I hear that those that have ordered already received their order.

so ive been searching and it says right on their MSDS its dehydrated ethyl or anhydrous ethanol. so it is not denatured...

no doubt I will try it soon... if others recieve thier order.

I give anyone who shoots strait everclear both props... and a slap on the head for the sake of their liver...

on that note... I doubt you wanna drink it since its had the last big of moisture dehydrated from it...

so food grade... no probably not... but safer than butane to extract with... most likely... here are some ideas on how they went from 190 proof to 200... not my words copied from wiki

    Distillation
Ethylene hydration or brewing produces an ethanol–water mixture. For most industrial and fuel uses, the ethanol must be purified.Fractional distillation can concentrate ethanol to 95.6% by volume (89.5 mole%). This mixture is an azeotrope with a boiling point of 78.1 °C (172.6 °F), and cannot be further purified by distillation. Addition of an entraining agent, such as benzene, cyclohexane, or heptane, allows a new ternary azeotrope comprising the ethanol, water, and the entraining agent to be formed. This lower-boiling ternary azeotrope is removed preferentially, leading to water-free ethanol.[75]

At pressures less than atmospheric pressure, the composition of the ethanol-water azeotrope shifts to more ethanol-rich mixtures, and at pressures less than 70 torr(9.333 kPa), there is no azeotrope, and it is possible to distill absolute ethanol from an ethanol-water mixture. While vacuum distillation of ethanol is not presently economical, pressure-swing distillation is a topic of current research. In this technique, a reduced-pressure distillation first yields an ethanol-water mixture of more than 95.6% ethanol. Then, fractional distillation of this mixture at atmospheric pressure distills off the 95.6% azeotrope, leaving anhydrous ethanol at the bottoms.[citation needed]

    Molecular sieves and desiccants
Molecular sieves can be used to selectively absorb the water from the 95.6% ethanol solution. Synthetic zeolite in pellet form can be used, as well as a variety of plant-derived absorbents, including cornmeal, straw, andsawdust. The zeolite bed can be regenerated essentially an unlimited number of times by drying it with a blast of hot carbon dioxide. Cornmeal and other plant-derived absorbents cannot readily be regenerated, but where ethanol is made from grain, they are often available at low cost. Absolute ethanol produced this way has no residual benzene, and can be used to fortify port and sherry in traditional winery operations.

Apart from distillation, ethanol may be dried by addition of a desiccant, such as molecular sieves, cellulose, and cornmeal. The desiccants can be dried and reused.[75]

    Membranes and reverse osmosis
Membranes can also be used to separate ethanol and water. Membrane-based separations are not subject to the limitations water-ethanol azeotrope because separation is not based on vapor-liquid equilibria. Membranes are often used in the so-called hybrid membrane distillation process. This process uses a pre-concentration distillation column as first separating step. The further separation is then accomplished with a membrane operated either in vapor permeation or pervaporation mode. Vapor permeation uses a vapor membrane feed and pervaporation uses a liquid membrane feed.

if it is 100% natural ethanol then yes it is

qwet is the same as qwiso except for the wash/soak times. easy peasy.

@2clicker I figured as much...longer wash for QWET, much longer, compared to our 20 second QWISO washes.
