Is my doctor right?

I have a sore throat that won't go away for 2 weeks along with some chest pains and shortness of breath, and more recently when I inhale deeply I can hear a crackle noise right below my neck and I suspect that I have silicosis or pulmonary fibrosis because I smoked some weed which I think is laced, because it happened after I smoked the weed, I heard of people put glass or silica in the weed to add weight, and I went to the doctor today and explain to him my symptoms, but I didn't say about smoking laced weed, and he looked at my throat and says he can see some congestion or something, and listened to the front and back of my 2 lungs and says everything is normal and looks like I got a bacterial infection and I asked him if I need a xray and he says no and I asked if I got silicosis or fibrosis and he says no, and I made up a story about cleaning my garage where there is a lot of broken light bulbs and that I have a nasal congestion so I have to inhale through my mouth and I could possibly get glass particles inside my lung, but he says it's not likely then he prescribe me arizthromycin 500mg 3 tablets for 3 days, so if I took it my symptoms go away then my doctor is right about a bacterial infection and I haven't got silicosis or fibrosis, right?

Right.

But if you're going to go to a doctor, not telling him what really went on seems counter-productive, eh?

The thing is that my phlegms are clear and all, but when I smoke those weed, I spit out bloody streaks of phlegm right after a few hits with a bowl, then I'm kinda scared but decide to hit again the next day with a vaporizer and a water bong, been smoking like that for a few days, there was no blood but then one day I spit out bloody phlegm again so I suspect there was something up with those weed and I stopped smoking it and then a few days later I got a sore throat and then a week later I got chest pains and after another week I hear crackles in me so I got myself checked out today, I mean how is it that smoking those weed gives me bloody phlegm? even with a vaporizer through water filtration, is it likely that the weed isn't laced with glass but with some chemicals added to irritate me? Or that the weed isn't laced at all but the smoke somehow irritates the back of my throat and dried up some blood linings or something then I got bacterial infection coincidenty?

No one here is going to be able to diagnose you. The amount of weed "laced" with things that is actually out there is very exaggerated. I will search for links, but I remember seeing this information, related to what the DEA seizes. It is a very very tiny percent. You are more likely to be struck by lightning.

On another note.. There are a few people in this world that you should be absolutely honest with. Your Medical Doctor should be on that list! :2c:

Don't be afraid of telling your doctor that you smoked weed and you think that it might have been laced. I very highly doubt it was but for some reason you seem pretty keen on thinking it is. If a doctor says you have X and gives you Y to fix it why would you come onto a forum to ask for a diagnosis by a bunch of people who are probably not doctors.

Simply put: cause I didn't tell him that I might have smoked laced weed.
I guess time will tell, if I took the antibiotics and recover then I'm good to go.

That might be your problem, or maybe not. Asking here might make you feel better (or worse) about your condition but it absolutely cannot diagnose you. If it leads to a false sense of security it could wind up hurting you.

I'm guessing you don't watch "House". A constant theme in that show is that lying or simply not telling the whole truth to your doctor inevitably leads to bad things. It's only a TV show but that particular aspect is 100% accurate. Your doctor is legally obliged to confidentiality about anything you reveal, so there's really no excuse for not being honest. Doctors aren't stupid either, it's quite likely he knows you were bullshitting even if he doesn't know why.

While in general it is good to be honest with your doctor I think a lot depends on your situation. It's sometimes best to err on the side of caution. Legally speaking your doctor might have to notify the proper authorities if he thinks you might be engendering other people with your drug use i.e. you have a job that requires driving. Depending on where you live that might put you in a bit of a bind. It should just be noted that doctor/patient confidentiality has its limits. You should also think about your insurance policies. They could deny you payment if you haven't been entirely truthful with them.

In any event , in a perfect world, yes you should tell your doctor everything. In the real word though, you should keep in mind their might be unforseen consequences if you decide to do so.

Wise words Skunkypete but if he thinks it might really be the cause of his trouble then he had better find a doctor he can trust.

I know when I had my medical emergency (acute angina leading to a double angioplasty) I didn't hesitate to tell all three of my doctors that I smoked a joint or two a day and had for many years because I thought it might be a factor. None of them blinked an eye, and none of them brought it up again.

This was Ontario (not sure what part of the country you live in). I can certainly see that the situation in the US could be vastly different.

Edited because Mavis Beacon tuned out to be a lousy teacher

If the weed made you sick it would more likely be from the plant material having a fungus or something of that nature than glass powder in it.

I would say to lay off smoking or vaping while you have an infection so that your body can recover.

yea it could be the fungus or something in the weed that made me sick, but I also smoked the weed out of my new extreme q vaporizer, I've used it for like 2 days then I noticed the heater part of it wiggles around, and I thought it was supposed to be like that, but then I heard a screeching noise so I opened it up and see that there was this glass part that covers the ceramic heater, it was broken, so is it likely that I might have inhaled the broken pieces of glass from the vaporizer? could I get silicosis or pulmonary fibrosis from it?

no offense, krillman but....pay attention to the doctors (please), and please be honest with them. Do not come here for medical advice in anything other than a general sense. You are, in my opinion being far too specific and asking people to come to conclusions when they/we/I have absolutely no ideas of the specifics and are likely not qualified to answer.

If you've got problems with your current diagnosis, then go see another physician or specialist.

That's really bad luck to have broken your heater cover that quickly. It is the weakest aspect of the Arizer designs and it isn't covered by warranty. The part is fairly cheap and you can replace it yourself.

I doubt you would have inhaled anything significant from a broken heater cover. It would have to find its way through your herb, for one thing. A lot of people have broken their V-Tower/Extreme/Q heater covers and as far as I know, there hasn't been an outbreak of silicosis or pulmonary fibrosis among them.

Again, you are asking health advice from an internet forum full of stoners. Doesn't that strike you as a dubious practice?

ImHo u can forget about the laced weed theory, at least with glass.
Coz to not recognized laced weed with glass is really difficult.
Just put a piece of weed in your mouth and chew, u'll feel the glass (or sand or sugar etc...)

Actually vaping or smoking laced weed ( be it with glass, sand, sugar, flour, spray etc...) is obvious.

Depending on the lacing it can be difficult to see before buying, but afak it's always obvious once you consume it.

Personnaly I have never see glass, but saw sand, flour, sugar, hairspray, chicken grease from cooking, and a few others I don't know....always obvious.
One (the hairsppray or something)made me spit green flegms when I was smoking it, but I stopped spiting after I stopped that laced weed.
And it was obvious it was laced...the weed wouldn't burn, even with tobacco..but it would vape..but then you could see the ABV were not normal.
