I wanted to try concentrates for some time now but they were not available here.
Since a while I can buy them in a few coffee shops in Amsterdam but never tried them.
They are stupid expensive and can go anywhere between 75$ and 130$ for a gram
so my question, are they still worth it?
Can I buy a gram and load it in a pen vaporizer and be good for lets say a month?
How many puffs does a gram yield and how many do I need to feel medicated.
Our preferred way at this moment is to load about 0.3 to 0.4 gram of flowers in the pax,
put it on red and both me and my wife go at it untill there is hardly any vapor left.
This is what we want to achieve with the concentrates but I'm afraid that it's going to be
so much more expensive this way.

I would Very Carefully attempt to make your own if it's crazy expensive like that. Personally it took about six months running different stuff from different people ( I'm in ny boo prohibition) to finally find a strain that yields well, because as you'll find out if you start, some stains can yield as low as 3 grams or less :(, but others will yield better giving 7-8, to finally find myself a strain that yields a minimum of 5 , but mostly 7 or a bit above. Depending on what you pay for an ounce, of good buds not Mexican dirt weed, that can hurt a little, but take comfort in the fact that for the pair of you two, 1 gram of good flower ran bho will last probably a week out of one of those small pen vaporizers, but it's hard to properly judge through a forum screen where I don't know you or your habits.
The taste is way better and the effects are immediate, no more heat up time on the portable, which makes stealth hits on the go easier then pie.

    good advice.

i generally get 1-1.5g per .25oz of flowers. i consider myself to have a low tolerance. i can make a gram of oil last weeks if i need it to. usually with flowers in between, but i can stretch it out when needed. i can also blast through a gram in a couple of days when it is plentiful. extracts are a good solution when i dont have a lot of time or need to be stealth. the downside is having to do the runs yourself (if you have to). this can prove to be a challenge for some. oh and i recommend considering using ethanol instead of butane for your extractions.

btw... @DabComa what strain nets you 8 grams of oil? that is per oz yeah? do tell

I know this is OT but if youre trying to be more efficient with your money and meds you should consider ditching the Pax. That vape is a herb hog compared to other flower vapes out there (name almost any vape and its more efficient... Solo, Lotus, E Nano, UD, HI, LSV, MFLB, etc.)

    Just something to consider.

As far as oil goes, why not buy a gram of it and see how long that lasts you (or see if they sell 0.5g increments)? That would be the best way to judge IMO.

Personally, I think if you use it sparingly you can stretch your medication use by a substantial amount. Thing is you need a proper, and efficient way to use the concentrates.

    What was your plan there?

    Thanks for the info guys.
I'm not doing it to be more efficient or to save my flowers, I was giving the example of the pax so you have an idea of our usage so it could be compared to using oils/wax.
While the pax is our main go to vape (all due to my wife who likes the pax above all others, and now for the big surprise, she likes it because of the taste, she hates the taste of the flowers and the pax fucks up the
taste in a heartbeat, she rather uses nothing than doing it in f.i. the ascent )

i'm mostly curious if those prices are justifiable compared to flowers.
I have never used wax or oils so in my mind this could be awesome if I just load a
gram or half a gram in a vape pen, and it's ready to go every day all day, for at least a
week or so, without charging, loading etc, just a small pen in my wife's purse.
    Or am I wrong?

the best way to hit wax is one dab at a time.... nail or domeless...

on an e pen like this you can simulate the same thing but again it makes run off and I like to load on dab hit it like two - threee small times then flip it over and get the run off out... this e globe is the cheap portable simulated dabbing I've tried.. But anything that has a coil that gets hot is going to vaporize wax..

any way thats how I do it . and to answer you question 75- 130 a gram is way tooo fucking much! But prices will come down a year ago all good shatter was 60$ and up

but now now one company here is making good shatter for 30$ a gram and more for 40$ -45$

It takes 1/4 oz of flowers to make 1-1.5 g of oil depending on strain and quality, so if the price of the gram is in between the price of 1/8 and 1/4 for you than it would probably be worth it. Definitely worth it to try in my opinion.

If you have never used concentrates before you will probably notice strong effects from just a few small puffs of oil, as long as you are using a half decent delivery method. The cheapest pen vapes are extremely crappy in my opinion, to the point of failure which can really blow your day.

When I first switched to oil I was vaping 1/8 of top quality flower every day, and I didn't get through a full gram of oil the first week. Obviously everyone is different and without having intimate knowledge of you, noone can tell you how long a gram will last you. I find that my intake varies hugely based on which vapes I am using.

I'm not sure if I can ask it here or if it needs to be in the correct thread but what would
be a good pen vaporizer for concentrates?
I would love to have one that can hold 0.5 or mabye up to 1 gram and has a battery that
is capable of at least 50 hits on a charge.
Can you load these pens and not care for spilling?

your best bet for a cart with that much capacity would be the Omicron carts. you can use them on pretty much any eGo pen or mod of your choice just make sure your battery and coil are safe together. oh and you will need an adapter to run them on any non D9 battery/mod. the Omicron carts are not the standard 510 thread.

and what about all in one solutions like the omicron light or the omicron V2.5, would they do the job?
If their only problem would be a smaller load capacity I would be happy to trade that in for an easy solution.

yes either of those would work great, but just know that they are more expensive than using an eGo pen. in fact the first omicron batteries were indeed rebranded eGo pens.

my advice would be to get the omicron carts from D9 and the. get an eGo pen for about $20. together you will be looking at about $30-$60 max for the combo.

the new omicrons are mods tho. just google "mechanical" mod and you will see options of all sizes, materials, and prices. you will need lithium batteries to run them.

id post some links but im on my phone right now.

pretty nice deal, but no warranty. then again you probably wont need it.

i prefer a shorter mod/battery myself. check out mod called "magneto" and "caravela clone". these are more of what i would suggest. all SS and can be had for around $20 (no cells).

Such a great deal. You can also use the coupon code "ILIKEUPTECH" and get an extra 20% off!

It's a quality unit, with good customer service. I was even informed by one of their reps that if my V2 with no warranty does fail, then I just need to purchase the separate $45 1 year warranty and they will send me a brand new v2.5 to replace the v2! I was also told that if you use the 1.5 ohm carts you run a greater chance of a short. So if you're worried about the lack of a warranty, then just avoid the 1.5 ohm and stick with the 2.4 ohm.

Seems like a great option for you.

@2clicker : these caravela's, are they only for e-juice or can they also be used for oils etc?
Because these things are just F-ing beautiful. Or will I have a similar setup when I use a magneto or caravela with the omicron cart or are there better/similar carts of other brands wich fit to these without adapter?
I like those ultra small set ups.
(Could I dream of putting my cera LL cart on one of these or is that completely not possible?)

the mods (caravela or magneto) are made for the ecig industry, but you can use them to push Omicron carts (with an adapter). to my knowledge there is not a better solution for loading .5-1g amounts than the Omi carts.

you can also use these mods for rebuildable dripping atomizers (RDAs) and you can build your own coils instead of having to buy new Omi carts when they crap out. rebuilding is for advanced users however. you need to know what your doing or your batteries could vent or even blow up. there is a thread here called "advanced ecig users... one hitter quitter" that explains a lot of the rebuildable stuff. going the rebuildable route means that you have to load dabs at a time. you cannot load .5-1g in an RDA.

finally yes you will be able to run a TV EO core on a mechanical mod, but you will need an adapter. TV says the adapter is coming, but i dont think they are available yet.

wanna see something crazy? google authentic caravela and take a look at the availability and price... crazy especially since the clones usually come from the same factory the real ones come from.
