Is It Dangerous to Ingest QWISO/BHO?

I'm thinking there is no difference between BHO/QWISO and RSO. It is just an extraction. I can make BHO or QWISO, but don't have a vac setup to purge. Is there any actual danger in ingesting this oil vs vaping it? I'm thinking as far as trace levels of either solvent goes is it worse than vaping?

I've got ankylosing spondylitis and want to see if this "magic cure all" can do anything for me. At the worst case I figure it is still an extract of an anti-inflammatory drug, cannabis. I just don't know if eating trace amounts of solvent is more dangerous than vaping it. Obviously I'd like to think there is 0% solvent left, but that is physically impossible, at least without a proper lab setting.

Anyone ever use RSO for anything at all? I have some questions. Mainly I DON'T want to feel a high from this if it can be avoided. I need realistic expectations. I don't generally do edibles. Just not for me, but this is for health reasons. I'd like to feel no effects from the oil, but if its unavoidable I want to do my best to start SUPER low.

Anyone who has used any kind of concentrate for any arthritis or autoimmune disease similar to AS please let me know what advice/info you have if any. I'm young still, I want to try to get on top of this lifelong disease and hopefully extend my time as a fully functional version of myself. I can already see things getting bad.

For some reason I'd feel a lot better if my state had dispensaries and I could buy someone else's "professionally" made RSO. I have my med card, which offers me nowhere to legally buy cannabis, but I can't get in trouble for possessing up to 10 ounces. I can't afford to make much at once, but if works at all I will make some when I can. I guess starting small for a trial wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I smoked weed for well over 20 years before I realized what I was doing to my lungs. Now I only vaporize and I must say I don't miss smoking. If I knew anything about BHO/QWISO or RSO (what does the "QW" part mean, and what is "RSO"?), I'd post what I know. But I don't, so for now I'm just here to read what others have to say. Great idea for a thread, by the way!

QWISO is quick wash isopropyl alcohol referring to the method used to make the concentrate, Not sure what RSO is though. I've never orally consumed BHO, but it doesn't seem like a good idea, even though THC cant kill you, you probably wouldn't feel very good, and it might get stuck somewhere, which wouldn't be very enjoyable, nor easy to explain at the E.R. lol. I'm pretty sure some people here on other threads have mentioned methods of edible concentrates, Ive never done them, but it involves some process called decarboxylation? Not sure, but you should be able to find it with a little searching through the forums.

As to the first post by the originator of this thread: if you eat concentrate you just might get your wish of feeling no effect. To make THC chemically active in the brain (just what I've heard) it has to be heated (i.e. smoked, cooked, vaped) to within a certain temperature range. I realize you may have already heard that, but I wanted to make sure. This idea is something I've heard and I thought it made sense, but I know I can be wrong, so jump in and correct me if necessary!

One other point - I would look into "CBD" (a chemical in cannabis) - it doesn't make you high but it's supposed to be medically beneficial. What's more, you can buy certain strains (such as "Harlequin") that have a lot of CBD and almost no THC (I've seen CBD pills for sale as well).

My goal is to get the medical effects some people claim you can get by ingesting concentrates, WITHOUT a high. This is why I don't want to decarboxylate the medicine.

I can always just vape it if I want, but this is to allow higher doses of the medical aspect, without the side effect of getting high.

Okay, I think I understand, but if the strain is one with low THC and high CBD it won't make much difference if you heat the medicine, right? Anyway, hopefully some of the links below will help.

Disclaimer: I'm no expert on this. I've listened to a couple interviews and watched some youtube videos.

The process for RSO involves decarboxylating the oil. According to Rick, it will not work if it's not decarboxylated. You will get very high using this treatment.

As for safety...There isn't any solvent left after making QWISO. It purges out very easily. Just have to let the pan sit until it's dry. For BHO, I don't think you'd need to worry about that, either. Butane isn't harmful in small quantities. Look up the MSD sheet on it.

I suggest you take these questions to the actual Rick Simson Oil thread.

I have also been diagnosed with AS. I treat symptoms for AS (and other back issues) topically. We have cannabinoid receptors throughout our bodies, not just in our brains.

We make a salve w/ as much mj as possible - as well as using other herbs that have medicinal effects, like: st johns wort, calendula, arnica and comfrey. We cook this up kinda like making butter in a crockpot - except we use mostly coconut oil with some olive oil. We then add beeswax to make it a nice firm, non-greasy consistency. you can add essential oils to disguise the smell. Applied topically (and decarboxylized), the effects are almost instantaneous, - with zero high. Some people make their tinctures/salves with oil.

Arnica Montana is fairly effective by itself for muscular issues, and can be easily found.

Sorry if this is getting a little off topic, but I know absolutely nothing about making oils that don't get you high.

Sidenote: just about any type of cooking will decarboxylize the flowers.

You rang? Psoriatic Arthritis patient here . . . DR I see peeps using the Simpson oil for cancer but not to "cure" the autoimmune disease. Best advice for fighting inflammation I can give you is Toradol. Talk to your Doctor, forget the FDA and the label. I get a fair amount of transitory anti-inflammatory effects from cannabis, and pain relief, but its symptom relief only, and does not address the underlying disease.

darkrom, I'm very sorry to learn how hard things are for you right now. Here is a study which explains CBD (which does not get you high) and THC in the context of treating MS (another autoimmune disorder, if I'm not mistaken):

    http://www.projectcbd.com/Sativex.vs.MS.html#MS

at some point (if you have the time and aren't feeling so bad), I'm curious why my previous answer to your question was not satisfactory? I won't be offended, so don't worry about that. I'm just very curious myself.

This one explains what CBD does medically - it looks like it would be very helpful for you. I think it even explains how to get the CBD out, like some of the links I posted above.

The answer was fine, I'm, just not having great results with cbd. I've been chewing some (very expensive) cbd gum from can chew. It helped with anxiety but so far has done nothing for my pain or inflammation. They are conisdering me for higher doses case studies. That is my best shot right now for cbd, but Im worried cbd isn't strong enough for right now.

Sorry for a double post. Edit won't work on my tablet right now and I can't use my PC. Looks like canchew is sending me more gum and asking me to try 3 pieces a day to see if that has more positive results for my inflammation and pain.

I'm sorry CBD isn't working out for you. As you said, maybe higher doses will help. THC can also help with physical illness, at times (according to what I've read). But that's out of the question because you don't want to get high, and you have to heat THC to make it work as a treatment for anything (again, according to what I've read). There are approximately 60-80 chemicals of interest in the cannabis plant, depending on who you believe, so who knows what advances may come next! I'll continue to watch this thread so I can follow your progress. Best of luck!

Its not that I mind a high I just can't use that at work. I've also had some terrible experiences with edibles. I'm just trying to proceed with caution. If I get stuck on disability then I'll probably go balls to the wall with rso.

Im willing to keep trying if they are going to help my health issues. It is just the main reason I want to know if eating non decarbed oil will be just as helpful. I'd rather eat oil, not get high, and feel better. I can always vape whenever in addition to the oil.

I think to answer your OP, it is probably slightly better to only ingest cannabis that has been extracted by vodka, everclear, or some form of oil/fat.

You can also just eat it. Eating it will not get you very high, as raw cannabis hasn't been decarb'd. You will, however, get a whole lot of other phyto chemical benefits, other forms of cannabidoids, and anti-oxidants. I think I read that eating it is very anti-inflammatory.

Of course, "they" say the best way is to juice the buds fresh (right off the plant), but I'm not able to get that, so a spoonful of ground bud (usually the stuff I get that I don't really enjoy vaping), blended into something, or sprinkled on my food, works for me. It does seem to help with my nerve pain.

    Might be worth a shot.

Supposedly yes. I believe you want to juice fresh buds. I wonder what would happen if someone were to grind a half gram or gram of good bud and put it AS IS into capsules. Anyone not afraid of edibles want to give it a try? I'm curious if you notice anything at all. If no mental effects I'd try it for a bit to see if it helps anything.
