Help Critique My New Website!

First of all, if this is in the wrong spot, I apologize.

As some of you know, I run a website called DeadFootDesigns.com. It's been up a while and was in need of a makeover and some attention. Now that I am laid off I am really trying to develop the site.

My hope is to make it a place where people can come to learn the stuff I have learned here and elsewhere. I will be posting on all things cannabis- growing, medicating, etc. I will also be featuring products that I love or think might be awesome. These will all be for sale on the site. Currently I am featuring:

Glass and medicating tools: I am using Smoke Cartel and Doc's. I will only be featuring their best brands such as Toro, Illadelph, etc.
Vaporizers: I am using VaporNation and have so far featured MFLB products.
Grow Supplies: I have not hooked up yet with a retailer, but I am looking into Rougue Hydro.
Apparel: My designs with fulfillment from TeeChip
DeadFoot Stands: I have reduced the number of designs, but still make a lot of dome and slide displays.

So, if you want to head over, I'd love to hear feedback and ideas- both positive and negative. I'm really hoping to develop this site for digital and affiliate marketing. It's what I do for a living anyway, and this could be a lot of fun. It could also be a great way to earn income as I get older. Hopefully.

Ok, guess I'll go first.

Overall, I really like the design. Exudes quality.

But.........I have an issue with your logo and the use of that "foot". I totally understand that it ties into the title of the site but it has no absolutely no connection to the product that you are selling. It would make perfect sense if you were selling running shoes or orthotic inserts, etc, so it's a bit confusing when I see that being that it's the first thing that one sees when they bring up the page.

I know that this is all subjective, but that was my first thought.

If you want to use a picture to tie into your name, you may want to use something less realistic so it would be a bit less confusing while adding a bit of humor as well as a pic that people may remember. Maybe something like this:

Interesting thought! That never would have occurred to me, but I like that you took a first impressions approach to begin with.

The whole name is an inside joke, I guess. What if I had a foot with a leaf background or something? I say that because the foot does need to be skeletal in nature...

I personally would make it so you have a display of some exaples of the different products youre selling, as soon as you open the page. Just more eye candy i guess.

Well, it's that inside joke type of deal. I started this when my son nearly lost his foot in an car accident. We used the money from the display stands to help pay deductibles. We joked he was going to have a dead foot. And the Grateful Dead, as in the skeleton imagery.

That said, I'm not married to the idea if it isn't helping with the identity of the site.

Also, I do plan on probably creating a static front page showcasing products. Now, the idea behind something like this is to get ranked on Google. The only way that happens these days is create unique content on a daily basis. Hence the "blog" section of the site.

EDIT: I guess I can't reply until a certain time or something now. Anyway, I changed the icon and I think it rocks!
