Discontinued Haze Square

Things I found to help this piece perform at its best are packing your dry bud as much as you can and packing it tight and also when the button goes green wait a second before ripping but when you do don't be scared to pull hard. At first i tried pulling as hard as i would with my haze v3 but I was only getting small wisps. Now Im getting huge clouds that get me coughing which is rare for a portable for me.

My Square definitely works better when I pull really hard on it. Not sure if that is due to the weak seal around the lid or if it is designed to be this way... But when I do this, I get a lot of material sticking to the stainless teardrop screen. A pod cap might help this issue.

The bowl shape/orientation is potentially problematic and I think it should be packed or tamped for best performance - a convection vape relies on an even bed of material for optimum performance and even roasting. In this case you are taking a relatively wide shallow bowl and turning it 90 degrees onto its side. The material wants to fall down to the bottom of the bowl, which would give you an uneven roast. It might help to shake the unit around a bit between hits.

The first step with any new vape is to completely disassemble and deep clean the entire vape and reassemble before the first burn off. Try to look at it like a pack of shit throwing monkeys assembled your unit. If we need a tool to do this it is no big deal once you have the tool 'coming soon' I assume. I plan on cleaning mine whether I have the cleaning tray or not.

:2c:
Seriously you have to disassemble and reassemble your unit? 14 pieces? What is consisted of 14 pieces on the Square? I know you did not refer to number of pieces but still do not get why is needed to be disassembled.

Of course every new unit and especially parts that are in immediate contact with the skin (mouthtpiece) need to be cleaned at first time. I totally agree. As with clothes. But I do not get if you mean overall disassemble..

Machined metal parts often have surface contamination from cutting fluids etc used during the manufacturing process. It is always a good idea to clean as much of the vapor path as possible before your first use.

I did not see any evidence of contamination in/on my Square, but I cleaned everything just to be safe.

You would be shocked to see how dirty some vapes are when the arrive from the manufacturer.

I have an idea but honestly I did not think of it. What about the 14 pieces mentioned earlier? Is there any pic that we can see to get the idea of it?
Are any extra tools needed for that?

I want to buy this vape and I really like it more every time I see it. I do not mind about having to clean good or learn any kind of curve or whatever. Everything needs time to learn to use properly. Should I order it? This question is to anyone who wants to answer. I appreciate anyway any help. :)

Konstantinos....you might want to wait just a bit to get more feedback from the few users now, and in days that have it. There seem to be some minor issues, but not anything as bad as the MV1 and Tera roll outs.

My questions at this point are:

How is the direct draw vapor coolness when compared to other top battery portables?

How is the draw resistance to get that decent vapor?

That sounds like a wet dream!! It has the same quality flavor as those? Hope it's easier to clean than the Elevape, it was a real PITA

Yup! But TBD on flavor (low temps are nice!) and cleaning, haven't cleaned or disassembled yet, and still testing with temps and seals.

My questions at this point are:

How is the direct draw vapor coolness when compared to other top battery portables?

How is the draw resistance to get that decent vapor?

One of the best, extremely smooth and no noticable resistance. It is a lot like the Elevape in these ways, but it works with any draw so far.

Looks like my usb c charger is working after all, not sure why it didn't seem to at first, maybe I just didn't wait long enough to see light come up. Anyway now using that it charges real fast as it should!

I definitely do have to hold the halves together to get proper vapor as I explained earlier, so I will look for that fix. I guess I could try dissambling (and normally would clean) but I've been lazy and my hand is a bit cramped lately. Not ideal but fine to test more, still only using on pod loaded in the tray for now...

Got my temps set to 330-355-370-385-415 now and tried a few different strains of varing moisture, course grinds, full bowls. It does seem to perform better when tamped, but my pressing halves together is not always consistent so hard to be sure. Had a good one this morning, 3 nice hits each at first 3 settings, will see if I can get anymore out of it.

So far I haven't been able to fully extract and am using much more herbs than I usually do, but the effects are niiiiice. I am sure once I resolve the allignment and seal of the two halves I will see more consistent, thorough, and effortless performance. The good hits I do get seem to confirm this...

Oh and my mouthpiece has been working fine, though it does fit extremely loose so not sure if that could also be affecting my airflow? I dono it is not an ideal mouthpiece at all, the ceramic is good, and it is okay, but I would prefer a wider one that is more secure? Maybe one that is more fixed to the unit, stowing it away to make it a square is nice, but does leave those vapor path holes exposed as well.

The button works well, need to get used to ergonomics after seal is fixed since now it involves pressing sides while hitting. The app is nice and simple, setting LED colors is definitely fun and the way the lights work on the device are perfect. The vibration is also pretty amazing, I thought I'd find it annoying but I love it!

Again so much about this vape is extremely well thought out, making something as complex as on demand convection more accessible for mainstream consumers. I know we see it with the customer service and this launch process, but the product itself really makes it clear how great this company is!

Has anyone tried a half pack using either the silicone lid or concentrate pad as a space reducer? Those pods look big and I'm looking for a reliable on demand device for microdosing to replace my very unreliable grasshopper.

Is the haze pod about twice the size of a grasshopper chamber?

I read somewhere either on this forum or another, the user wasn't impressed with the results when he tried a half pack using the concentrate pas as a space reducer. Anyone else have a better experience?

I never half pack. I am a good big or go home type. But early on in the beta testing I did try some smaller loads. If I recall it didn't work so well because if you pull too hard you are going to creat a funnel hole in the load. So with that I would recommend the pad to fill the chamber void and keep the herb flat across the bottom of the pod. I am sure it would work. My only question would be the impact to taste.

While my first Haze Square did not work great (can’t wait for new one to arrive), I found the concentrate pads worked great as a spacer.

My experiences are very similar to yours.

My vape only works properly when the halves are held together firmly and even then it is chewing through a lot of bud. I have gotten 4-5 decent draws off a load, but that is not impressive from a 0.2g load... Similar to you, I cannot get my load to extract any further than about a medium brown. There is definitely some left to extract in there, but it's hard to get it to cook evenly and fully... The power/heat is there, it's just hard to actually get it where it needs to be...

I have found the best results with a coarse grind and full bowl. Do you have a problem with flower build up on the stainless top screen? I just pulled like a third of my load off the top screen after a session. This was an extreme case, but it's a recurring issue for me. I think it is worsened by the fact that the load is not fully extracting/drying out. It is still sticky when I pull it off that top screen.

I actually like the mouthpiece a lot. I appreciate that it is a portable designed with true portability in mind. I think it will have a spot on my team once the seal issue is worked out. Carrying a full g of flower inside a vape will be pretty remarkable. It will need a smellproof case bad!!!!!!

Anyone with a pro, the pre loaded temps are very high. As I explained once I got mine, the lower first two temps are more than enough. You may want to lower the band a little as I have not passed the first two at all.
Also pack the pods tightly to get even abv.
The cleaning tray is also essential.
The pro is in my everyday rota and is awesome little thing.

People using the included chargers- please wait a few mins, as I've noticed it doesn't charge instantly; it takes a bit of time for the charging indicator to come on.
That's with any type of charging, via charger cable and even the fast speed charger block included.

A little birdy told me Haze are bringing out some nice accessories for the square so extremely excited!!

Not to many positive reviews on here yet ><

I feel like most of the reviews are biased because most of us are previous haze owners so we wanna like the new one, truth be told, I'm hearing a lot of negatives, not to excited to be getting mine, hoping it just works but apparently I'll have to disassemble it and stuff so... I guess I'll update whenever I get mine, bit disappointed so far.

No disrespect to the people as there's a learning curve with everything new but here are some quick tips:

1) use the native charger... If your PC isn't properly rated to charge via USB c, it will bottleneck and charge at USB 3.0 speed. A blue USB port does not automatically fullfil this requirement.

2) Hold the button during your draws

3) everyone is going to be nervous/excited/etc . Wait for people to pass the learning curve before making final judgements

I was actually able to get more now with it tamped for sure, but I guess still doesn't seem like it lasts longer than a Zion bowl despite more loaded and low temp control. The effects do correspond with that larger bowl though, but for some reason after 8-11 hits below 385 I cannot really extract anything further even at 415. It will get hot but yeah not getting the heat in the right place?

Here is that bowl, actually not that bad avb, I generally don't take it super dark and this is pure convection of course:

VOmDtXb.jpg

And as you see here I do get herbs stuck to top screen, but it actually was much better here than before. I think that is because of the tamping, but also bc I was careful to keep button side down in use the whole time (aside from a couple hits sideways/upright) leaving the pod upright. It is normal in my experience to have herb build up like that in a vape like this, as in my very first Thermovape T1 (love how the screens here are similar, like an evolution of that design), it just more tedious here due to the four bowls perhaps? And bowl size? Lids would help maybe, but rob more heat, top screens too, but even more fiddly...

Yeah the sleekness is good, I dono the small loose mouthpiece is just not ideal to me, but not too bad. Definitely seen worse, and is better than I expected, like the angle of the tip, but yeah a hair too narrow for my preferences I think.

Yeah, I want this for a portable to replace oil cart pens out and about, in that way it can still deliver once I figure it out. I can see how the silicone being re seated should help it seal up properly. Not having to reload is great, just need to adjust and discover the right way to use it for individual needs.

Downside I think my battery might have an issue, potentially from first charging with a different charger and 2.0 instead of c? After that first bowl, total of like 15 hits give or take at various temps, my battery shows red when I charged it to green before bed last night... So yeah we'll see, it may need to go back, still more to test especially with proper seal.

I don't know why you would feel like that, most people here have not mentioned owning and loving the V3 with their initial thoughts on the Square, in fact there's been a lot of variety in users so far. We are all still figuring out a new device, while some are experiencing an assembly defect that has already been caught, so I wouldn't put so much stake into these early "reviews" nor would I even call them such. I am posting as I go, not polishing up a review, and have experienced much worse with other new vapes frankly. THAT is what sets the Square apart, not a previous affection for the brand. I don't know any other mass produced vape like this that hasn't had issues like this at launch, and comparatively these issues are very minor imo

It is normal in my experience to have herb build up like that in a vape like this

I have the Ghost MV-1 & this is normal. The stickier/less dry the herb the more buildup. Underneath the herb clinging to the ss plate there may be a clear sticky film on the ss plate & residue stuck in the holes. Just give it quick soak in iso & scrub with an toothbrush.

To see if your herb is completely extracted, anyone who has a vapcap, take the spent herb & hit it in the vc to check it out.

Yes @StonerSloth since that is the vapor path it will always be sticky, and herb will always be pulled that way. So yeah tamping and how you hold is best way to control it here I think

I'm new to Haze so I'm not biased. Oh I was also a first adopter of the pro. It turned out fantastic :)

People with battery issues, please note off a full charge, you can only smoke all 4 bowls before the battery goes flat.

Getting herb on the top screen- normal. Happened to me all the time lol but no biggie a quick shake and all is good :)

Also many of the negative voices are using it incorrectly. Like not pushing the button or not using the correct charger etc etc.

When I got the pro I noticed the airy draw also but this was because the screen rubber seal wasn't seated properly.
Quick take down and all cleaned up ready to be put back together and was fine also.

Any issues please don't hesitate to ask ;)

I just got Square Pro today and I'm having some issues.

-I left it on my charger for over 6 hours and came home and plugged it in the app and it's reading a very low battery level. So I'm not sure if it's because it's not fully charged or the app is not working properly.

-When I plug my square in, I set up my presets and changed the color. I also changed the feedback to LED only. It says that the settings were transferred. When turn my Square back on, the colors did not change and the feedback is both LED and vibration.

-After not being able to get my custom preset temps, I gave up and tried to just vape. I turned it to red which I guess is 430F. I've taken several draws and I'm hardly getting any vapor. I am feeling lifted so maybe there's a leak and air is pushing through and dimming the vapor, thus being the reason it's not dense at all?
Is this the issue with the seals everyone is talking about?

I hope I am doing something wrong and it's not the unit itself.

Just that dude
I'm still using a first batch unit. There honestly is no issue if the bud moves around in the chamber. I literally put just a pinch in each chamber. When it's time to empty them, they're usually sitting on one side, but everything is evenly browned. Definitely a learning curve, especially if you're the kind of smoker that feels like nothing is happening if you don't see the vapor.

Idk man, I feel like mine isn't drawing enough air through the heating element. I get like 1-2 taste hits, but nothing beyond that, even at the highest preset. Squeezing the corner can get better results, but even that is hit or miss and probably not good for the locking mechanism.

I'm open to the possibility that this is just user-error, but I feel like it's just not getting enough hot air.
