The Magic-Flight PICO: an idea that is NOT a vaporizer

I've received #1 and #2 of the PICO alpha units and here's a quick field report....but first things first:

THE PICO CAN VAPE!

I think MF did a disservice to the product my labeling it a combustion unit. With just a bit of fineness you can reach a satisfactory 'toffee brown' on your herb without a combustion.

There still is a fine line between vape and combustion here....but I strongly believe it could be fixed with a bit of tweaking.

There is some hope here....imagine a vape that fits in your pocket like a stick of gum holding a single vape hit or single dab.

Imagine if we had an easy dosing tool that could load this conveniently for on the go use?....you vape a few quick one hits, dumping in between and getting exactly what you need!

I spent a weekend with mine and in my experience, its quite easy not to combust, especially if you're used to the MFLB. My issues with the product is that I don't see a real place for this if you already own a MFLB. I'm quite a fan of the company and it's products.. maybe even considered a fanboy (I'm one of those who actually sold off high tech vapes costing triple the MFLB because the MFLB was still just a better fit for me), but this is probably the first product from MF that I'm not wild about. It looks great, the size is tiny for sure.. but my main thing is that it compromises too much to not have any real advantages over the Magic Flight or many other smaller vapes out there. It takes more effort to use and because you have to deal with the short-comings of the unit, I find it actually less stealthy than the Launch Box... but maybe that's more of a testament of the Box's design because it was already small enough to begin with to never be a real hindrance. The biggest weak spot of the unit is the metal lid. It's quite fragile feeling and doesn't lock into place. I would not feel comfortable loading up a trench and keeping this thing in my pocket... so the fact that you'll most likely have to carry additional herbs with you just to take a hit makes it less handy than the LB. Also, I tested out about 7 batteries and only 3 worked with it (2 were Amazon Basics, 3 were silver Glyphs and 2 were the gold ones that came with the unit.. all of these worked in my other Boxes and Maud Dibs). On that note, the battery life does seem quite good so price and battery life might be the only advantage it has over the Box.

I can't get the photo to load for some reason sorry!

it is so small it's ridiculous though the trench is about half a vapcaps worth/ or like a quarter of a normal MFLB trench.. extreme microdosing capability!

So has anyone combusted in it yet???

first few loads burned up straight away, it's really easy to combust! i'm finding it alot better to vaporize without the stem attached, much easier to gauge heat/vapor.

i think a steel stem would work wonders with the normal mflb as sometimes it irritates my throat

I don't think it's for me or anyone else here to tell Magic-Flight what direction to take as a company. I feel a bit uncomfortable seeing all the posts condemning them for doing something like this, or questioning their motives. We don't know what went into the decision and we certainly don't own the moral high ground to tell them that they're doing something wrong. If Magic-Flight perceives a possible overlap between the combustion and vapourization markets, then I think it's not only acceptable but also obvious that they should try to fill that niche.

I want to point out that Magic-Flight did not try to market this to FC members. @MagicFlight Press expressed surprise that it is even being discussed here. It isn't a vapourizer and they aren't pretending that it is. That's why this thread is in the Lounge. I confess that I was the one who half-jokingly came up with the original title but I didn't create the thread, @Stu did and used the title so he could blame me (or so he claimed :p). I accept the responsibility but I regret the idea so I'm not letting it stand. Welcome to your new title.
