Going domeless in Spring 2014

Well, I decided on a nail I think... good thing since my new rig should be here tomorrow. Also no shipping needed because its stocked at by my local MMJ collective.

Kings Quartz makes em. From what Im told by my glass blower friend, this is a very legit company for quartz products.

Now whats interesting are that the nails are "jointed". This means I can slip the nail over my male DI joint on the new rig!

Sounds sweet. Ill let you know how it works out.

Oh and they are going for $35, but the BT said they would price match if I can find them cheaper... he alao said that KQ was selling them at $50/ea over at the Denver CC?

VAPOLITICS!
First things first, you have EIGHT of those?? :uhh: Good lord man, what do you like about them so much that you'll spend $900 on just nails? Second you say you don't experience problems with oil running down the center but do you use a dabber or are you dropping it in? Dabbing is never a problem for me but dropping is (literally) hit or miss with those types of nails.
ROFL don't worry it is not the case!

I have a brick and mortar shop and webstores where I sell these ;-) and I have been a sort of beta testor for the 240V of some e-nail brands. So yes we (at the office) have several units with several coils (15-16-20-29) and we (glass heads on the personal side) have several rigs with different joints and joint sizes...so I have 2 of those honey holes (14 and 18) and 6 quartz enails :

2 in 15mm (14 & 18 joint size)
2 in 20mm (14 & 18)
2 in 29mm (14 & 18)

Is Joe still the only guy doing the quartz e-nails : I think he is... SO silly if you ask me but that's how it is!

OK dunking bhombs is another game. You should aim the side walls though it might be pretty tricky I agree!

Any reason why you prefer to bhomb than use a dabber?
taste... idk why but bhombs (even small ones) taste better... in my opinion.

I also judge the purge of my concentrate by its "handle-ability?" I.e. if its too sticky its not done and if its wax I fucked up. not saying thats the golden rule... cause its not...

also, I like to play with my weed!:lmao:
it also requires one less tool on the table. if I have to use a dabber I use glass. anything else leaves a funny taste and waste. bhombing there is no waste... when you dont drop it down the hole wrong that is.

if I was a dabber guy.... then anything quartz would do me fine.

im just not a dabber guy. im a mad bhomber!:evil::science::worms:

What is "bhombing"? I've only heard bhomb used for large dabs (alongside globs, dunks, etc. as in "got a nice bhomb ready to drop"), are you guys using it to refer to just any dab you drop in?

If so I'm with farscraper, haven't 'dabbed' in quite some time. I like my concentrates 100% stable so dabbing doesn't usually work (I got a nice little scooper thing for crumble and fingers for shatter). First switched over because I wanted to try capping a dome but my wax would vape before I could pull the dabber out/get my fingers on the dome.

Capping works much better when you drop it in, I think if you gave someone a capped bhomb after they've only tried regular dabbing they'd be shocked you could even get such a nice milky hit from a low temp dab.

Since we're on the topic (and I just made this gif...) bhombs away :D

in short yes.

bhomb = shatter rolled into ball with fingertips
bhombing = ball thrown at hot surface to see how high I can get.
hint: im almost there.

and thats farscaper vernacular:tup::doh:

@FlyingLow my local USPS actually burned down recently so it is possible but there's another USPS store like 5 minutes down the road and another post office ~10 minutes away. Unless the dude lives in Bumblefuck, Nowhere, the excuse "USPS is down" is 100% bullshit. When your entire business revolves around shipping how are you not prepared with 5 alternatives? That's like going to a doctor for an appointment you made 6 months ago and he says "oh sorry, we gotta reschedule, I don't have a stethoscope"

Love the analogy:D

Personally, I was pissed to have been up-charged to pay for expedited shipping, only for chief to wait one week to process order. In spite of my disappointment, I wrote a very polite letter over a week ago and received no response. So I figured I will post on FC and let their potential customers know what they might expect as far as customer service from Chief...

I think there is a saying about that... something regarding a rectum and glass that is no longer intact.

Anyway, anyone have experience with those jointed King Quartz domeless nails I posted earlier?

if its really quartz it should be fine... I elected to go with an unjointed one for universal reasons, but if you only had one size to worry about its a good price. I think the dab lab had them between the two prices you quoted... but I cant remember.

if your worried about it heating your piece I doubt that will ever be an issue with quartz. it dissipates heat quite rapidly and does so out the top. I doubt the joint on those would even get hot given some time between dabs.

if I were using those it would be a male joint for female pieces. the female joint nail might get stuck on an inverted male joint if you didnt keep it free from sticking.

also note that the 14 and 18 mm ones use the same tube diameter it seems. so the ones for 18 might seem restricted while the 14 might be loose draw. no telling without a water test.

Well Im stuck using 14mm. How would one prevent the joint and nail from sticking BTW?

just pull it out/off after use so that it doesnt become stuck. keep it clean... are you getting a 14mm male or female nail?
the female nail I think would be the one to try to keep clean. the male nail would do what most domeless nails seem to do. Which is collect at the end of the nail. which makes cleaning easy...

idk how the female would run.... my fear when investigating was that the reclaim would run strait into the peace instead of collecting on the end of the tube. thus causing it to be more likely to stick. which usually takes little more than a little heat from a torch to unstick.

Okay so after some confusion (they gave me the wrong nail twice), my local MMJ disp came through with one of those female 14mm jointed Kings Quartz, quartz domless nails (phew!). Heres the end result:

Now question... I noticed after using it I got "soot" on the inside of the nail wall. It wiped right off, but WTF is that? Also how close should the "center" (hottest part) of the flame be when heating?

Aside, I do like the design as it keeps the hot parts pretty far away from the joint on the rig.

Anyone ever find another supplier for the domeless quartz other than Chief and Dab Lab? I managed to snap the very tip of mine off in an accident that was totally my fault. I'm trying to decide between the quartz castle domeless or some of the others in this thread -- how's your piece working after having been broken in?

In spite of my issues with Chief, and my not wanting to send them a penny of business, the quartz itself has been great for me.

That is a nice find farscraper, I am going to take another look at that setup when it does come time for me to upgrade or get a second rig.

joe halen, while likely expensive has also been making carb caps for his domeless quartz honey holes. I will see if I can dig up the pic I saw

Just passing time
I just realized my castle that I have been using in an 18 male joint fits perfectly into an 18 female. Great discovery. I started using this cheapo 18 mm bowl that came with my D-020 as a carb cap for it, too. You can really get some nice dabs going with this setup.
