Discontinued Ghost MV1

OK 2 days in. I love this thing! No issues with loading, although I can see that someone with fine motor issues would definitely have trouble. Crucible dispenser is a must have, I don't mind filling these little buggers but one at a time would really suck. I'm loading them right to the edge and gently tamping and scraping across to level, think flour.

Started with brother stickstones routine ramping up from 1, wow totally unprepared for the flavor, first dry material vape ever. Found my groove starting at L1 for that flavor punch and jumping to L3 for 1 or 2, stir, then 1 @ L4 and L5, done. Awesome draw, I've got some lungs so straw stays halfway down and 9 out of 10 I'm going to the buzzer. Clouds on every level, I got the draw down. Until... battery flash. As soon as the level of the battery dropped to flashing I had to up the temps, L1 was useless and I found myself jumping to L4 faster. Still getting clouds but not as thick. Third crucible after the indicator started flashing was one too many, usable for sure but not the same experience. So I got 48 good cycles, varied inc. 3 L6 burn offs, before I feel the battery needed to be charged. Does anyone go until complete battery shutdown or is this more the norm?

7 crucibles from a full battery, but again a lot of experimenting in this group, I'm able to get 7 good draws from a crucible with a stir but like 5 killer draws instead, not bad for .12g. though. Definitely need a spare battery.

@DJ!, glad you're loving yours. Once you notice a drop off in performance, I'd charge or switch out the battery. Probably the burnoffs accelerated battery depletion. Once I hit 1 battery light, I just switch. I, too, have incorporated stickstones suggestion: 2 hits at L1 & then jump to L3 & then when vapor starts to wane finish off at L4 for 2 hits.

Small update on my situation: They have offered to send a new one if I send the old one back. I live in Cambodia where vaping is completely illegal regardless of what you vape, and obviously my choice of herb is illegal too. There is no fkn way I'm taking a used vaporizer to the DHL office here to send back, it just isn't worth the risk.

At this point I'm writing it off as a $425 lesson.

Do what you gotta do, but I'd think about cleaning it well and return. Then again, I'm not near a prior war zone. Alternatively, video the issues and see what they'll do.

@Ohm and Away, did you originally get it shipped to your home?
Yes, I decided to take a risk, as the worst that can happen in ordering one here is that it gets confiscated by customs. That's not the same as turning up at a DHL office here with a used vape and sending it out somewhere else.

Whatever, it is what it is. I can understand them needing a broken unit to be returned, I was simply relying on the thing not breaking in the first place.

I apologize for the miscommunication, we are sending you a new unit before you return the original. We understand your situation and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Remember that it can be used for many legal herbs, and Ghost even sells such on their site.
So you used it for vaping mint.....
And well cleaned, there should be no trace...packed inside plastic bag so absolutely no smell...

Thanks Nerissa but the miscommunication is this; I'm not returning the original, that isn't a risk I'm willing to take, google Cambodian jails if you want to see why. I also made this clear via the email with the support person, and asked him to cancel the one they were sending me if sending back the original is part of the deal.

Again to be clear, I don't think asking people to send back a faulty product is unreasonable under other circumstances, but in this case I think you can probably see why I'd be uncomfortable with it. I was simply relying on the device working and not needing to send it anywhere.

Fwiw it seemed nice while it worked and I'm not mad. In hindsight maybe something with less moving parts would have been a better idea for my situation but whatever, we live and we learn.

We are still sending you a new unit and you do not have to send your old one back, given your circumstances.

I have been having better success with a firmer draw. It is definitely a good piece of equipment.
I have, however, another problem. The USB charging point in the battery has snapped off, rendering it unchangeable and thus unusable.
@ghostvapesofficial - What is my best course of action please?

I would contact our CS team and start a ticket. They can definitely help you out. Since it is the weekend, they will process your ticket on Monday.

Also, finding myself having to stir every bowl.

That's how I do it if I want to finish off a bowl. That's how all my convection vapes work.

After trying all loading/packing techniques, still not having much luck getting vapor on the yellow settings. Some is produced on the 3rd yellow temp but nothing reminiscent of the "Evo" as others have mentioned/compared it to.

I've probably seen some of the same Evo comparisons you have, and I wince every time I see them. It's not fair to the portable and just sets up false expectations, as you have been victim to here. The Evo is plugged in, has a massive heat sink, and holds at least twice as much herb as the MV1, and while the MV1 can hit as hard or harder than any other portable I remember coming across, I'm not going to sell it as an Evo replacement.

However, I do get some impressive vapor on Levels 1 and 2 with the MV1. Since you're not, I'd try a couple of things. First, make sure you're not using regs or mid quality herbs. If you're confident in your goodies, try slowing your draw speed on the lower temps. The MV1 can keep up with impressive draw speeds, but early on we need the herbs to warm up, and a slower draw will bring them up to temp a little faster, imo. You can also 'choke up' on the mouthpiece by pushing it in as far as you can comfortably hit it. Play around with different combinations and find what you like best!

tl:dr - push your mouthpiece in and slow your draw.

I have never felt the need to stir. The abv is uniform enough that I just can’t imagine screwing with a hot crucible provides enough value for the effort. Yes, I’m a lazy vaper but...seriously...that abv seems toasty enough.

And, I’ll chime in again about the amazing quality of Ghost customer service. Every time the topic comes up here,I think about Grasshopper Labs and the Elevape folks and just shake my head. Ghost rocks it.

Well, email creamcityvapes now & tell them you are eyeing the BF sale & what the shipping would be & if they have any experience shipping to AU. Don't know though if you have custom charges in AU. And ask them what time (EST time as I'm assuming they are in the US) & you're 1 day ahead) their sale starts so you can convert it to your time. If you do go for it, just have it in your cart & the BF promo code entered so you can just apply the code & checkout.

I completely agree. I do note flecks of green when I lift the lid on the crucible, but dump it out and try to find them among the well browned load of a whole.

I don't think I leave anything on the table with an MV1....nothing significant.
