First place has been taken and the contest has changed. See post #23 for information.

OK FC membership, December is the month to be merry and spread cheer among our fellow humans. So in an effort to spread some happiness and joy to the FC membership I, Photorider am going to host a contest each week in December, with first, second and third prizes to the winners. Each prize is 100% free, you only pay actual shipping and that will be worked out after the contest between the winners and myself.

Each contest will follow the exact same rules, but will have a different actual contest item, with different prizes. The prizes are displayed as Prize A, Prize B and Prize C. The winner i.e. first, gets their choice, second gets next choice and third receives what is left. Every prize has both flower and oil attachments of some type. Images of each item are shown in the contest page. If you are a winner and really don’t want the item you are allowed to PLAY-IT-FORWARD to another member. You simply work it out with whoever and PM me. However, the member still must meet the minimum trophy value as defined below and in each auction.

Each contest will start at Midnight PST on the start date, and it will end on Midnight PST on the end date plus 1 for full 7 days. The contests date ranges are:

    1. December 2st through December 8th.

    2. December 10th through December 16th

    3. December 17th through December 24st

    4. December 25th through December 31th

Each FC member is allowed only one entry per contest; if you rebid aka change your mind because of someone else’s post (and repost) you are disqualified from the contest. Please be fair to everyone.

There is a minimum trophy points for each member to quality to enter the contest. This is to play it forward to members that provide benefit to these forums and are actual participants in them. It is the simplest metric to measure this value.

The minimum trophy points to enter for week 4 is 65 trophy points.

The rules to determine who is first or second or third are as follows.

    1. If the contest item is to bid a number of some type i.e. weight, quantity etc.

    a. First is the closest bid without going over the actual value

    b. Second is the next closest bid without going over.

    c. Third is the next closest bid (excluding first and second) to the actual value. It can be above for below the actual value.

    Example:

Contest 1: guess the weight, which the actual value is 29 OZ.
    Person A: guess 30
    Person B: guess 28
    Person C: guess 26
    Person D: guess 27
    Person E: guess 25

    1st: person B, second person D, 3rd: person A (closer that C and E, but since it was over can’t win 1 or 2).

    2. If the contest is a text response (only the last auction is like this) – I determine the winners because I only know the answer and it is not black or white. Also there will be criteria stated in Contest 4 on how each winner is determined by different questions of the item on display. In other words, its three questions about the item.

OK Contest for the first week of December….

    CONTEST #4

First place has been taken and the contest has changed. See post #23 for information.

This one is a bit different.
You must answer THREE Question (or whatever number you want). I select the answers based on how close you are to the questions. Somewhat subjective, but no favorites here. I would ask past winner allow others to win :)

    Question 1:

    What is this?
    Question 2:
What country did it come from?
    Question 3:
What is the main taste of the item.
    The Item:

Whoa!!! My cousin's husband has a bottle of this. A) It's called Snake Wine. B) Comes from Vietnam. C) Tastes like ass, but he says it's supposed to taste like whiskey. I thought it tasted like fishy rubbing alcohol. My question was if they make it with whiskey, why do they call it Snake Wine?

Another awesome giveaway from @PhotoRider. Your capacity to give is second to none.

I can't believe I knew this! This stuff is like the guy's pride and joy. He takes it to parties and get togethers to hand out sips and show off the bottle. Thinking about it is making my stomach turn.

A:That is a glass bottle, probably a 300ml bottle, it is filled with Asian Cobra and Scorpion whiskey and some spices.
B:That bottle probably came from a south east asian country, narrowing it down further i would guess Vietnam, possibly Thailand.
C:The taste is fishy and fiery, there is probably subtle notes of ginseng, not for the faint of heart, and slightly gross.

    That is:

Something you won't find in my cupboard

    "Made in Taiwan"

Tastes like glass. That's right, only the outside of that bottle would ever be tasted by me....

I have no idea how I would perceive this in terms of taste, that must be surprising, I wonder what comes first, but I guess it's not the main point of the preparation to be yummy :)

The snake was in my shoe this morning.

The scorpion was also under the toilet seat.

Considering I filled the bottle with my pee, I would say it tastes like............

an ultra concentrated urine with the complexity, elegance and manueverability to handle virtually any palate with strength of varietal character and definitive structure.

Furthermore, You can expect an off-dry, highly aromatic urine with pronounced snake flavors, ripe scorpion laced with lively citrus fruit and a distinct minerality of urine. The careful attention to the balance of snake and residual scorpion shit is apparent and serves to make this bottle of piss an extremely versatile urine for a variety of foods. This is the perfect picnic beverage, it warms the palate and scares the shit outta unwanted guests. Give it a go with chicken salad, sandwiches, Thai food, shellfish and most seafood finds.

    Just another day in OZ.

    I really like prize B thankyou:tup:

Ok I finally can see them. It's cobra and scorpion whiskey from SE Asia(Thailand?) called Lao-Lao. I guess it is an acquired taste. I have never had it but I have heard it described as fishy, hot taste, almost like drinking peanut oil and alcohol with notes of ginseng.

    Did I win :-)

deadshort480 got all three right on da first guess post, crap easy I guess. Bought this myself in person in Vietnam. Thought it would be unusual...
Tastes like shit aka dirt. This one is unopened, simple age and travel in cargo leakage. I tasted one in Vietnam while there. Liked the coffee and beer much better, 333 is on the list, believe its bha, bha, bha :) or close to that. Those are real creatures in that wine to.

Ok you get your pick, but I'm going to add something for the other two... lol too easy - good to be king even for a moment :)

OK, of my pipes, which is my favorite? I have never really said that... It may not be a great functional piece either, but a picture was posted on a post in the glass forum. That is all I will say. good luck.

Why is it my favorite? that is the second question. Once the first is made known, that one begins since you must know which piece to answer that question. I have told no one really...

ok, time to finish contest 3 and weight the glass gravel...

Wow, I'm glad I got the first one right because I can't even begin to imagine which one of the so many pieces of glass you have could possibly be your favorite. With so many to choose from, it's like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack.

I am really really digging prize B, so I believe I will choose that one, kind sir. Thank you again, @PhotoRider! I am still in awe of your kind and giving nature. All these contests and auctions are unlike anything I've ever witnessed. The FC community is truly lucky to have members like you as a part of it.

Good luck to everyone on part II of this final contest. I am extremely curious to find out the answer to this next question.

yes, I changed the difficulty level, one out of two hundred chance, I guess if people will get it if enough posts happen, but you probably will not get the second one...
