Where is the other thread? cant find it.
Here my review of the Focus vaporizer (designed in USA and made in China).
First it's a pen shaped vape using conduction as heat technology, replacable battery, vibrating feature, 6 t° settings (160,170,180,190,200,220°C) and adjustable airflow, in France it cost 119 euros.
It comes with a replacement glass mp, a water tool adaptater, usb cord, external charger, replacement screens and tools (the cleaning tool is very nice, the handle is similar to the Atman spoon) and I forgot the user guide (english, french, spanish and german) and the box.
Loading is easier cause the inverted cône shaped upper part (àla T-Vape), bowl size is similar to the X-Max (X-Max capsules and FM pods fits the bowl).
To power it on you need 4 clics, it vibrates and it shows battery status (high, med or low), to start heating you need to press 2s and to change settings 2 clics are ok, it vibrates when t° is reached (as well the led stop to blink). 4 clics to turn it off (vibrate again).
Heating time is fast, count 15smax to the lower setting and +2s for next setting, so 20s to heat at 190!
And the most interesting part, the vapor quality and the clouds production:
The good new is that all the settings produces visible vapor from thin to thick, even at 160 I'm able to get very smooth and satisfying clouds.
Habitually I start at 160 and increase the temp every 2mn-2mn30 (before the 3mn autoshuttoff, everytime you change the t° setting you start again for a 3mn, so if you change settings like I do your unit doesn't turn off after 3mn, nice for sessions!), I finish the session at 190 or 200 (I never tested the 220 setting) for a total time of 8-10mn, I can do 4 sessions like that before the battery is very low (although not totally dead).
About the taste the good new is there is no silicone/plastic taste, only a bit of "new device" taste. The issue is I'm a bit sick actually (not a lot but I get a "clogged" nose...not the better for taste/smell) but i'm pretty convinced this vape taste at least as good as the X-Max/Storm....maybe better, although here it's an personnal opinion and taste is different for everybody....
Airflow can be adjusted from a bit restricted to large (there is 3 little holes just under the heating chamber, air inlets whistle a bit, but nota big issue.
Abv comes out brown and uniform without green species and no dead spot as well.
It will be nice for cloud chasers and sippers (cause the large t° panel), it feel very well built in hands...and solid (I forgot to mention it is the heavier vape pen I own(ed), but everybody knows: "heavier is better, .."). So it's a great new vape, it doesn't promises something special and make the job very well, a good, reliable and solid vape!
Don't hesitate to ask me if you need more infos, it is avalaible here: http://lacentralevapeur.com/vaporis...-focus-vape-vaporisateur-portable-ifocus.html
Anyone else get one of these?
Somebody else posted a review before me.
I was able to use my Storm batteries in the Focus, I'm not sure but the included battery seems a bit weak(but still works very well!) ...it's a LG(2600mah) and the LG's I got with my T-Vape didn't last very long...
It was claimed this vape might to be one of the coldest in the market...I noticed too that's not true and I got some explanations: first model got a smaller heater and was cold but they replaced it with a stronger heater and now I can say it is one of the hotter around the heating chamber, although not enough to burn.
There is some negatives but it's still one of the better vape pen I tried this last year!
Just curious ... anyone on this tread compared this to an Arizer Air (if you own one)? Thanks for any info.
I never tried any Arizer vapes, although I know the consensus is Solo&Air taste very nice!
The Focus taste more like the X-Max/Storm/Haze imo.
Focus definitly get a good place in my arsenal!
It is very similar to the X-max but faster heating time (12s to vapor), 6 t° settings and adjustable airflow make the Focus a step better!
And it comes with an external 18650 charger in the box.
Somebody else get one? It doesn't reach the US market.....it's written "designed in California" in the user guide....
I'm definitely on the fence with this one. I'm looking for a good back up vape and might just take the plunge on this one because I really dig the adjustable airflow design mentioned. For US customers, the link is http://vaped.com/products/focusvape
That heat up time sounds amazing, almost into FF2 territory! And it has a lot more going for it by the sounds of your review.
Is this one of your favorites from the XMAX/Storm/Imag+ genre?
Did you try the Aura?
I would love to know which one would suit me best with regards to high vapor quality, ease of loading/reloading, and inconspicuous looks/small size.
Perhaps I should start a thread for advice!
XMAX/Storm/Imag+ had my interest first, but with the good things being said about both the Aura and this Focus,
it's even harder to decide on a reasonably priced stealth stick for out and about!
The Focus looks like a better building quality unit but in term of vapor quality it is very similar to the Storm (same than X-max) but better than the Imag , imho....
To be honnest I am under the impression the Storm is a bit better in term of taste and the Focus a bit cloudier maybe. Both work nice with small loads.
Loading is easier with the Focus, the cône inverted shapped top of the bowl, mp is threaded and stay in place unlike the Storm mp, glass mp is not an option (there is a replacement also) as the water pipe adaptater. The bowl fits the Flowermate/storm/x-Max pods or capsules, it will be less cloudy.
They are similar in size and about the look they are both great but I think the Focus wins comparing while using the X-max with a glass mp.
Happy to help!
Thanks very much that helps narrow it down!
Very interesting, it seems like the Focus has it advantages, but also the Storm, and the Aura, are still good value by comparison.
That quick heat up time will really have me watching this thread though, because when you only have a few seconds it's a pain waiting for a vape to heat up!
And sorry, when I said Xmax V2 Pro, I actually meant a V2 Pro series 3,
or Quickdraw 300dlx as it's sold to me. But I read that it's hard work.
How about the Cloud Diamond or Phantom Mini, have you seen those?
I think if I had one of those and a Storm, or an Aura or this Focus, I'd have the stealth conduction herb pen niche covered!
(unless the vapor quality from a Crafty/FF2 would negate the compactness and low price of all the above!)
So here is my review for the Focusvape after a week of heavy use.
First of all, I had some impression that this vape is just another cheap Chinese mass produced vaporizer with few popular functions such as haptic feed back or replaceable battery.
Also, it only had a few reviews from Youtube channels that, it seems, had no real depth usage review; but they looked like rather unboxing videos to me. Anyway, I had very small hope for this one at first…
To start with a few negatives, the front screen is not an actual one, but rather a replaceable sticker instead, which is kind of disappointing. And it's was kind of heavy side for the portable.
Also the temperature control is not very precise and little fiddly to use; for example, to change the temp you need to double click each time.
And the auto shut-off timer is kind of short (I think it's about 5 mins), however it can be easily turned back on or the temp can be easily stepped up or down to re-set the timer.
Despite this, after my 1st session I was really impressed with it's good taste. For me this was much better xmaxv2Pro(Storm/Astra) or the legendary Flowermate series or even recently acquired Elo(Convection).
On the positive sides, there was no draw resistance at all with this vape.
Believe me even when I closed 2 holes out of 3 holes it was pretty airy and it was free flow; which is different from some other portables (Solo, Air, and Alfa).
Secondly, the air-path seems well isolated, when I blow back the vapor only exhaled from the air inlets which is a very good sign.
Third, although I mentioned this in negative points, but more I use it the more I like it's hefty and sturdy feel.
Fourth, it definetely shines when it comes to taste. As I have never had expected this kind of good taste from a conduction vaporizer. It's even comparable to the Cera LL.
Fifth, it has the fastest heat-up time (10sec to highest heat setting) out of all my vaporizers. I'm aware of GH's fast heat-up time, but for a conduction, it's very impressive.
Finally, there are already 14mm and 18mm glass adapters available to purchase and also a steel universal adapter which can be hooked up with almost any water pieces.
I personally thought that the Alfa tastes really good for a conduction vape at low temp and also VS3 had best taste and flavor out of all the Chinese vapes that I tried. However, seriously the Focusvape tastes much better than the V2pro3, Pax, VS3, Alfa, and even Elo. I can see that it would easily compete with Arizer Air as it's only half the price.
For me I had most of my sessions set at highest setting without obvious taste fade issues with Focusvape, whereas Alfa started to diminish it's taste at mid or high heat setting and for the Air, only after few draws at highest heat setting the taste was already gone by then.
I just hope that if there is a next version released that they have a LCD screen with easy one click full precise temperature and with a minimum 10 min auto shut off timer; this would be game changer with a real competitive edge for the lower priced vapes.
I'm truly enjoying the Focusvape and this clearly proving that there are also good quality vaporizers from Asia, and you don't need pay a fortune to get good vaporizer at all.
Focusvape is well designed, built with quality, and reasonably priced vaporizer for sure!
Happy you get rather the same feedback than me, taste is always subjective but I'm impressed you compare it to the Cera LL (never tested the Cera but I heard how it taste good!).
Did you use it a higher temp (220°C)....not me I think I only use it one time cause at 200°C my abv comes out so dark...
Where did you buy it (for infos)?
The only thing I would like at some point, would be an english EU site for us non-french speakers..
Other than that, focusvape looks like a very "value for money" buy from what I read so far.
Main site is (English) here : http://www.ifocusvaporizer.com/
My Indica vaporizer is down, so i have ordered one Focus...... i will post my review ......
Thnx @GoGlass I can get the main idea.. And I can order from the French one in case I'm tempted to do so...
Bit the bullet, 1 is on its way to me... :/ placed the order a day after my pinnacle pro clone arrived.. I swore that would appease my (increasing) vas at least till my preorder ti gh arrives. Dammit its more serious than I thought. :/
This vape is in way to replace my Storm for a solid and reliable on the go unit, I enjoy it at home as well with my D020 or with a minibubbler on the top (my favourite way to use it!).
Start at 160 and turn it up every 2mn is the best for taste and even at low temp cloud are rather thick!
I'm trying to refrain my VAS cause tight funds, but yes it's a serious thing!
Enjoy your Focus and told us what you think about it....
Damn I just scross this http://www.red-eye.co.uk/review/product/list/id/303/ £75 with free worldwide shipping! :@ should have waited
I've just bought the focus 10 days ago because my Indica is dead. I am thinking that the price is fair but this vape is the worst that i have tried for the preservation of the taste .... After 3 tokes, even at the lowest temp, the taste is already at the popcorn level...but you can continue to vape of course !!!! It actually do the job very well, but in term of general taste this thing is not a serious vape ( For reference i will put a note of 4/10 for the Focus vape, 5/10 for my Indica, 7/10 for my Solo, and 10/10 for the Mighty).
I'am using the Focus vape at 160°C (lowest temp) most of the time, and ending my sessions at 170 or 180°C.
In a few days, a bullet for oil is supposed to be sell. I have hope for this one because the Focus can produce a lot of heat (220° but i suspect that it's more) and i also want to try to put some pollen....
Taste is really subjective, you think it taste bad, I think a bit better and another member claimed it taste better than Alfa or Arizer Air...although I'm more agree with you, it not shines on the taste department!
This sounds very odd to me since I like this vape because of the taste.
If it's true that your ABV was totally spent with 3 pulls at lowest temps this is really wrong...
I just had another session and even with +5 minutes usage at the top temp with 2 holes closed I couldn't even get the ABV real dark seriously...
Probably your unit is over-heating or my unit is under-heating, I don't know but it seems we have very different results I 'm afraid...
Try contacting them, I bet they would replace it with the new unit if you explain your situation.
I agree with you about Mighty taste much better but for the Solo, I don't know... My gifted 2 yrs old Solo tasted real great and helped me to really give up combustion completely, but my later purchased Solo and 2 Air's tasted real bad and it always burnt my top layer of ABV at the top temp. But the taste of Air/Solo at lower temps really shines for sure.
Sorry @PPN but I never said it taste better than the Arizer Air, however I said it's very much comparable at much lower price. Instead I said that it taste better than the Alfa or rest of the other conduction vapes that I mentioned.
@mods: I think this one should go over to the portable section?? It's released!
Received and had 2 days to play with after missing the orginal delivery. So far I am reasonably impressed. Quick warm up time, plenty of low temp settings for differing levels of flavour, nice slim form-factor. Maybe a little too tall for my liking. Not a huge fan of the screen on the metal waterpipe attachment as well as the little screen in the normal mourhpiece. (I personally prefer a finer screen as possible even if it means I have to clean it more often due to resin clogging it up.) The flavour is actually quite good IMHO with 2 of my combusting friends remarking on the nice flavour remaining to the higher temps (we used clockwork orange and then blueberry). These 2 friends of mine have tried most of my other vaporizers so they know and understand that vaping tastes infinitely better than combustion methods. The vapor itself is nice and relatively cool/smooth. (Alot better than 1 of my personal favourites the stock pinnacle pro.) The look of this device can easily be passed off as an average e-cig mod due to the form factor of the standardised 18650 batteries. I like the look and feel of the focus vape. Imo the arizer air/solo does beat this device for flavour however I feel the overall form factor of the focus is better. The only problem for me and my ocd ways is the device does not allow the loading of different "capsules" such as the pinnacles bullet system. I have read that the flowermate capsules fit however I am struggling to find these to try out. If my pinnacle pro bullets would have fit then this device would be my number 1 go to (until my ti grasshopper finally arrives). Peace.
