Honestly at first glance, I hate that clip idea.

I wouldn't use the "hate" verb, but yes I'm absolutely not interested in that kind of system (same for Haze Square and other vapes with multiple slots etc)

The FW5 is not for me, I'll have to wait for the FW6! But keep the reviews coming guys, it's interesting nonetheless.

I tend to hyperbolize, but I just want a vape to be easy to load, unload, and clean. Stuff like this typically isn't in my opinion. No that it's difficult, but it's just something extra that's there that you have to deal with.

I'm saying this as someone who isn't using their MV1 right now because I need to clean the crucibles.

The dosing tray is definitely a more specific choice than previous FWs, but in typical Marc fashion it’s a very integrated feature (didn’t even grow in size from the FW4) to the point where you could just forget it’s there if you want and never pull it out more than one click. I think I will miss loading by the straw method, tho, and maybe miss the option of a larger mouthpiece.

I’m getting close to receiving my FW5, and mostly want to evaluate the draw speed w the new heater & materials. But I loved being able to preload my FW4 (can sorta do it w my Splinter but it’s delicate) and I will definitely load up the full tray and have at it, for science.

Guys, just saying - you should try it, or get more feedback before you declare it is hard to load.

I typically don't even remove the whole tray, instead I just stick the tray out about an inch, blow the abv out, then stick the protruding tray down into my ground up stash and load it. I really can't imagine anything much quicker and easier. And if you load the entire tray then there is no other vape quicker to load 5 chambers and be ready to go.

Maybe we need to have a contest where we time how long it takes to load one chamber on various devices. I won't promise that fw5 wins, but it will def be near the top.

I just ran a couple tests and it took around 15-20 seconds to evacuate the abv and reload 1 chamber (bud was already ground of course)

Like I said, “at first glance” and “in my opinion”. I don’t think anyone is claiming to definitively declare anything about this.

Well for me it's more about never needing nor wanting more than a single load/bowl... the feature is just not appealing at all to me. Didn't say anything about ease of use or anything else.

Yep....it may in fact be the ultimate session vape for those "out and about" jaunts but truthfully, I'm pretty much the "one and done" vaporist myself.

I imagine the clip is no different than the capsule holder of the 4. I pack my capsule holder every few days and I'm set for travel. I'd guess that's how people would use the clip as well rather than one big session. I personally like to pre-grind and pack for the week rather than per individual session.

To me it seems like the clip system is great for group situations. Especially with a second clip, it makes passing the device around perfect since everyone can get a fresh hit and then swap clips when your done.

I do agree that for personal use I'd rarely use 5 pods. 2 at the most.

I'm much more concerned about the glass mouthpiece not being adjustible or hideable.

It's been the multi-cart style system from the get go. Not my style necessarily but I've kept my eye on things nonetheless 'cause it's an innovative design, no? I like the form factor. Fits comfortably and almost invisibly into the palm of your hand. I could see it. I'd just fill the first pod thingy and not use the others…

unless I needed or wanted to.

Personally I really like the idea of the 5 bowl clip. Load it up and take it out for the day, everything contained. No dealing with glass stems etc. Looking forward to seeing some reviews.

in my personal opinion i think the "On the go" feature was more in teh previus version , that look a pain in the ass do a refill (edit: do a refill while you are walking or standing already high ! ), but then again you have 5 chamber, but in anycase i dont see this as stoner friendly i can image myself droping all the load changing the slot

    tlr: i prefer capsule system.

I'm probably just going to take the middle screens out after my review footage I normally only need one bowl but load the opposite end since I can.

If you only need one bowl I think you'll be fine with this. It's not like extra space was added.

My only concern with the clip style system is when we inhale is the oven screened off... Is this going to have to be cleaned constantly @firewood ?

Is it feasible to have some type of lid over the holes?

There is a screen covering the heater so stuff can't get in

Do we have a timeframe for when this will be available? I think I'm going to pick it up, it's too unique to not try.

I like that if the screens clogged you can place it in another bowl I dnt have one but it's a good idea less fidgeting

It's here! Looks beautiful. Can't wait for the battery to charge and give it a go. The instructions are very nice and easy to figure out. @firewood thank you again

It's so small! And the clip seems very convenient I didn't understand the screens are just standard flat screen. The ledge keeps them in and replacing is as simple as putting a pen thru to dislodge and replace.

Just finished my first tray (loaded Monday night) and I’m still forming impressions.

    - Faster than FW4? Definitely, faster to heat up and faster draw, and faster extractor. Not a wide open draw and the long vapor path means you have to feel it out (similar to Milaana/Splinter w a long stem, you start slower to verify you’re making vapor, then speed up to extract).

    - Good interface? YES, always a strong suit of Firewoods. Thought I’d miss draw sense for “on”, but the simplified version is easier/clearer, the shape of the unit and the button feel are dialed in.

Extraction/effects are excellent, as you’d expect. I need another tray or two to completely get it down - the long/skinny stem and the changing power curve as you go through a battery need to be adjusted for w preheats and draw speed.

As hoped, this really is an all-in-one, load-and-go, fresh-hits-for-days vape, very well suited to my use. Very happy to leave my 3-4 piece Splinter setup at home to be my heavy hitter/party vape, the FW5 will be my EDC.

EDIT: Draw speed & heater power is clearer now. I'm mostly a low-temp vaper and Temp 1 is faster extracting than the FW4, but needs a slow draw to sense heat - similar to FW4 technique, but several times faster. On the other side Temp 3 is super fast, three draws till beginning of toasted flavor, draw is fast and the new heater keeps up, takes a lot to get the warning buzz, probably great for water.

Does anyone know if the crafty dosing capsules will fit into the tray? That would be fuckin awesome if they did.

This vape looks quite small. How small is it in RL. The design is kinda weird. How does it fit in the hand?

    Is the glass mouthpeice retractable?

Try to resist pressing the button on this one
