So VG is better for plants?

And are there other unbreakable (no Glass) portable alternatives similar to Eclipse or VaporGenie that do the job better?

can anyone comment from experience how the eclipse vaaapp is for smoking salvia extract?

I realize people have stated that this pipe is far better for concentrates than plant material, but I figure salvia extract is something in between the two. I also realize that the salvinorin A active ingredient has quite a high temperature of vaporization (approx. 220 degrres celcius). Do you think this vape will manage such material?

    cheers :)

VapeorSmoke, but reviews are mixed. I only use it for plant combustion and solid concentrates. The new atomizer sounds cool, but I'd wait till they come out with the ceramic bowls and new flame system. I'll keep thinking...but Id just take my MFLB with 8-pack of 2700mAh batteries. That would get me (personally) through a couple days.

I preferred my glassVG for plants over the VAAAPP, but only slightly. Never been a huge fan of "fuel" powered vapes. Sold all my VGs long ago.

Salvia...shouldn't be a problem. No experience so no data. Let us know how it goes!

i just bought this and have only been able to use kief and buds in it so far. this was ok, but less than ideal as i have other vapes that a better suited for that. with kief you want to let to kief warm up and stick before you try to hit it. if not you will end up with kief on your screen. (you want to keep your material at the bottom of the vial as far as i am concerned.) for the buds i didn't break them up too much becasue i didn't want them to clog my filer either. it works in this method, but like i said other vapes work better.

let me say it's good to be home! haha will report back with opinions on it after i fire it up. paid 95 bucks for it and bought a bunch of extra vials as per the recommendations here.

one thing i did learn so far is this: i exploded a bottle when i overheated it. it just popped and put bits of glass all over the place. something to be aware of. i was using a butane torch too though to be fair. :D

    *edit

OK, i have taken some time to get acquainted with the eclipse.

I put a little drop of oil in the bottom and was much more careful on how i warmed up the pipe, I don't want any more shattering vials as soon as i see the oil bubbling i start haulin. this has worked quite well. :o it also lasts longer than i thought it would too! very efficient.

i think my only gripe is obviously the vial is pretty hot so you gotta be careful when handling it. that and it looks pretty ghetto. like a fancy crack pipe. performance wise i am really enjoying it and can't wait to start doing more qwiso/bho runs this summer! :)

does anyone else have any more tips for me?

How was the harsh was the hit? How does the harshness compare to combusting out of a dry pipe?

less harsh than combusting. for sure. i cough pretty much no matter what im vaping out of, but i didn't find this vape much harsher than the others. and i didn't cough each time i hit it. that's a matter of stopping and not taking too big a hit imo.

i usually vape plant material out of all my other vapes. and i bought this one for concentrate use. so it's not really a fair comparison vapin weed vs vaping oils

but i do think that it was much less harsh than smoking the oil or doing a hot knife even. I really like how i can stop whenever i want and not waste any vapor because it just sits in the vial

if you want to smooth the hits out further, I think you would do better with the GonG version. http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=4003 water filtration smooths out any hit. (i do this on my ssv and i can take even bigger hits when filtered compared to straight)

Ok thanks, Im debating whether i should get the pipe or the gong version. I think i would use it on the go more but im just dont want the hits to be too harsh

yep, i wanted on the go options too!. :)

from looking at he vids of people using the gong version they are taking massive rips compared to what im taking. with the pipe I think we will be taking smaller hits so that would also mean less coughing. also I bet i could rig this to fit my silicone whip from my mflb and get some water filtration action going too. will investigate later on. :)

Dont get the GonG one if you have a large or percolated bong =P

when do you guys stop hitting it btw? once it stops producing vapor/smoke? when there is clearly no liquid left?

after using this more regularly it feels more like smoking than it does vapin. I gotta be really careful, too much heat and i have changed the taste.

i guess like with all vapes the first few hits are delicious and it gets lesser so after that. but with my oils so far after 5 hits or so i'd say it even begins to taste bad. again that smoking feeling i am beginning to suspect.

    why do you say this?

so ive been in the market for an essential or eclipse for a little while now.

i havent made my latest batch of reclaimed oil, but i do have a lot (maybe like 3/4 of an ounce - a lot for me) for my next batch...

but i had a few questions.

i just need something for oils & those glass bowls with the TI swings & stuff are too delicate, hard to hide, and have too much variables for me.
    - for instance, i know that it is very easy to combust on those skillets by overheating the pad a little bit.

i want something that i can be sure to vaporize more often (im sure a little combustion will happen with the eclipse/essential, but im thinking its a little easier to combust on a TI slide...am i right about this?). basically im trying to avoid combustion as much as reasonably possible.

so im open to hearing from people on why i should maybe get the TI slide (& all associated equipment) OVER the essential/eclipse (which is cheaper & smaller).

but my main thing is what people think about getting the eclipse or the essential vape.

i love the idea of being able to filter through water, but i also like the idea of that i DONT need water to use the device.

is there any way i could hook up an essential vape to some sort of bong (if i use a silicone tube to connect them or something)?

and is there any way that i could hook up the eclipse vape to be used WITHOUT a water bong (like if i connect silicone tubing to the GonG connection of the eclipse vape)?

also, i have a cheap glass water bong that does not have any sophisticated downslide or anything like that (the whole bong was about $45). is there a way for me to upgrade my standard-size downstem only (not sure what the actual size is but it is commonly seen in most head shops on their cheaper glass bongs...probably the same diameter as the metal bowl/downstems that are commonly seen)?

so, again, id like a vape that i can use on oils/kif/concentrates (non-dry herb). id like the option to use a water bong, but i dont want to HAVE to bring my water bong around every time i want to use the device. when im around my water bong, id like it to be able to connect it to the bong & filter it with water.

    any suggestions?

I think its way easier to "combust" with a nail or even a concentrate bowl as opposed to the eclipse-type devices. That said, I prefer the GonG version myself. I like the water/ice filtration. I have a glass Sherlock that I use with my LSV/DBV and other 18mm pieces (VG top, etc.). I can then use the GonG without any H2O. Or you could just use a dry tube or 18mm steamroller (I think Roor makes them for pretty cheap. Basically I find that the GonG is more versatile when compared to the pipe. :2c:

i dont get it...so whats a bigger pain in the ass:

connecting the ECLIPSE vape to something to use WITHOUT a bong?
    or
connecting the ESSENTIAL vape to something to use WITH a bong?

and secondly, how hard are these vapes to clean? im sure that the much longer, curvy airflow pathway of the essential vape is harder to clean than the small eclipse vape, right? cuz i figure that "wand hash" develops with these vapes as well?

EDIT: also does anyone know if the GonG stem piece of the eclipse vape is removable or if it permanently sits in there?

    so, whaddya think?

The Eclipse H20 comes with 2 GonG downstems and 2 conventional downstems, which all connect with a simple O-ring which is housed inside the Eclipse. Once that O-ring and another are popped out, the whole shebang can be placed in Iso for cleaning. The whole thing and all 4 downstems is housed in a quality, hard-case zip-up container for easy portability and for long term protection. A 7th floor poker can be pierced through the foam it uses and stored within.

I rather like my H20, btw. I wish I had the opportunity to use it more often. I do wish it came with a 5-7 inch long straight stem so that it could comfortably be used when a waterpipe isn't available. If you have a glass arsenal, my advice is go H20 for sure.

convinced me, brother...i guess u could just use some silicone tubing if you really need to use it without the water bong...i could definitely deal with that in order to be able to use the water bong connection whenever i get the chance...i didnt know it came with all those gizmos either...

just to be sure, my bong is REALLY CHEAP & pretty much looks like this one but without the ice pinchers (mine is VERY basic). is there anything i can do to a bong like this (hopefully thats cheap) in order to fit the GonG connection of the eclipse H2O to fit this bong? i know that i would have to find another downstem, but have you guys ever seen the conversion of these cheap bongs into ones with the ground glass downstems (with the same diameter) or know if its even possible? my bong is also a straight tube rather than this one with a bend in it (but i dont think that detail matters much):

& it may not help without actual sizes, but this is the bowl size i was talking about (which is pretty common and probably has been seen by anyone who has looked at a cheap glass bong in a head shop):

    thanks for your help!

Yes you can buy a new downstem to convert your bong to gong, but you don't need to because the eclipse comes with 2 different stems to fit the grommeted type of downstems like you have. And as far as using in dry mode I would recommend a sherlock or j hook with a gong joint. You should be able to find one for $10-20.
Pesonally I prefer a dome and nail setup for oils, but the eclipse with water filtration works well.

right im trying to decide between this & an omicron...this is slightly less stealth because you need a flame. but the refill cartridges on the omicron are like $10 each + a small shipping fee...but those last for 400-900 hits...

    i cant decide yet...

I own both. They are different devices with different goals.

the omicron wont need reloading very often or a flame.

its not going to be as much a face melter as the elcipse.

The eclipse is simple, gets good rips off concentrates and can be harsh if you heat it too much. the trick with the eclipse is learning to modulate the heat and not use too much.

I'm gonna load the omicron tonite I hope.

you may have just swayed me with that one term: "face melter". let me know how you like your omicron after you load it up!

i just bought the essential and i love it. i realize though noone knows how to hit it, they torch the hell out of it then hit it and they cough theyre ass off. i found out if you heat for like 4 seconds then slowly inhale it while still torching for a couple more seconds it allows more oxygen to enter the vial and causes a smoother vape hit. i get about 10 milky hits from a tiny drop of oil. i highly reccomend the eclipse vape

did anybody ever try to put a glass screen (those sharp pointy little glass screens) ON TOP of grounded up ganja in a vial? could that possibly weigh down the herb so it doesnt clog the screen & also expose enough surface area to heat in order to be somewhat thorough? would those little things even fit into a glass vial?

Has anyone tried the 1/2 dram vials? Can't decide which to order. The 1/2 dram seem like they'd be easier to load but if they don't work as good I'll just stick with the 1 dram's.
