I just noticed you can easily damage the glass when inserting these baskets and noticed people prefer the ability of the adjustable stem. If I still had the e-nano I'd just use the fixed glass stem because I like microdosing.

And here ^^ is the truth and the beauty of the Enano.

I am a fairly recent purchaser of the Enano and I'm still finding my way about with it. I have found that I do like the adjustable baskets a bit more then glass gauze just because of the larger holes in the glass and you can see some of the particulants that can get through (particularly if stirred) stuck to the side of the stem (and side of my lungs I would suppose). But the answer for that is just large hand torn or even just small nugs....or, I'm going to try hemp filter between some small screens at the mouth end of the stem.

Still loving it, still finding that there are different ways to use it in the particulars of load size, load grind, temp, etc and that each gives a slightly different experience in terms of taste, speed of extraction, etc.

How so? I found the baskets pretty easy to insert or remove and the glass of the stems and GonGs are quite thick.

    Cheers

since there's no grommet/oring/or something around the edges, the wires poking out can scrape the inner tube. the basket relies on those little pegs/end of the wires sticking out to hold it in place. I don't know. I question the integrity of the glass after there's any sort of chipping or poking. Maybe it was just the stem I received.

I'm still wondering why these log vape people don't just combine the funds to create a good ceramic/quartz screen that is tapered on the ends, and just have glass tubes in different lengths slightly flared on one end all using the same inner diameter (similar to glass joints). Due to the length of the screen, you could even spiral the paths and taper the side to the mouthpiece smaller for better filtration due to build up of oils. They could even add a spiral path on the outside of the screen and maybe add a peg/hook/rim on the glass to wrap/tie hemp twine/wick holding it all together and protecting you from the heat or the other alternative would be a silicone sleeve which epicvape and some others already have. Or they could form/bend a wood spring that threads the pieces together somehow and tie the ends in place or something else. Maybe a two piece wood kekt like shelving sleeves and tie hemp to hold it all in place... the ceramic screen could be like that too. maybe three pieces , two sleeves and a rod with pegs or something so you can place in the middle to set air flow/filtering (like a sandwich). But easy to clean too because it just comes apart exposing all the paths/inside. Someone should really use one of these ideas.

Your right glass chipping is not usually a concern so you might have gotten a bad stem. Have you notified EpicVape so they can take care of the situation for you?

I returned the unit... but still want one. I was just asking if it could work because I might buy one again some day, and probably would like to have the option of an adjustable stem without worrying about damaging the glass.

Also, http://www.oregonglassblower.com/14mm-Reclaimer-14M-14F-14m-14freclaim.htm having a heating element housing like this almost eliminates the need for a stainless steel screen, and prevents tiny sizes material bits going into the cover, and maybe even touching the heating element. Also allows better user maintenance. Kinda making the shape like a 8. Probably would use more power because of the distance though. You can even secure a glass stopper on the bottom of the unit to empty any debris, or have it a collecting bowl. I'd buy that I think.

I've got stems and GonGs that have been in use for almost 4 years now, and have read every page of this thread (and written on a good many). I just took a look at some of my older ones (with frosted GonGs) and newer ones (all at least 1 year old) under bright light with naked eye, 10x magnifying glass and 30x scope. Nothing at all was visible with naked eye, 2.0 reading glasses, or 10X magnifying glass.

I saw a few micro scratches at 30x that went lengthwise that were probably caused by screen insertion/removal. Even this was much less than expected as each of the 4 pieces I looked at (3 GonG, 1 stem) are in the regular rotation and I swap screens weekly (if that long). Of the 4 pieces checked, 2 of my favorite GonGs were the only ones with any scratches at all. I'd estimate the older one has at least 500 loads thought it, so probably 100 screen swaps and even more adjustments.

A few scratches = 3 of varying lengths on the oldest GonG (not all the way top to bottom but random streaks), and one on a GonG about 1 1/2 years old. All scratches seemed to be a one time thing, not from repeated digging by metal. After reading your posts and never really thinking about this I was very surprised to not see fine scratches everywhere up and down all of them. I stretch screens so they stay tight and am pretty rough on things as far as screen on glass goes. I like those puppies to stay in place unless I want them moved. And, can take a little force to get them going. Plus, I take advantage of the GonGs I have that let me slide the screen in from the GonG end. Much easier to get them in that way!

So while possibly a legitimate concern, it doesn't seem to be warranted. And, it kind of makes sense. The soft metal of the screens isn't hard enough to do much damage to the glass. I don't even know if the scratches seen are from screens, aggressive cleaning or scraping wand hash (I suspect from scraping, but who knows for sure?).

Might have been that the particular glass you had was faulty. But, did you see any damage? I can't recall anyone else having an issue with this nor doing much damage with screens. The most reported problem with stems/GonGs is that they break when dropped onto a hard surface (ceramic floors being the biggest problem).

As far as the rest, it seems like you're engineering a custom vape of some sort, or looking for competitors to merge and make you the perfect vape. Perhaps you would be more comfortable with a glass screen or could have OGB (or another blower) make something custom that would fit on a nano. As an alternative, degummed hemp fiber could be used as a screen instead of the normal metal baskets.

For me? I'm good with the adjustable screen system as it is, and love the ability to adjust - even if I put my screens in at the exact same depth every time. My only gripes are having to stretch them to keep them tight (could also replace for cheap), what a bitch it can be to get them into the glass, how they will poke your fingers while futzing with them if not careful and how quickly they get dirty enough to affect performance. But, don't think much can be done about any of these issues. And, none are really that big of a deal.

A perfect vape would be nice... but I was just thinking of all the options for an adjustable stem if I were to purchase another unit one day.

Not really trying to get competitors to merge as none of them actually make the glass as far as I know. Just thought it'd be easier for them to use the same size tubing and invest in a ceramic screen system, and have interchangeable tubes for different loads and length, and gong fittings... making it universal. Besides, I personally think they all collaborate or atleast help each other from time to time. A few small companies can make the funds to produce this while one might not. Their internals and device all differ in design and materials somewhat... maybe it could be as easy as them just adding threading to their heater cover to adopt this stem or any other someone or they could think of... I don't know, Just thought it'd be better when it's all set up to cut glass to size, polish and assemble the pieces rather than infusing a glass screen in a fixed location. The end result would also be more consistent but there's probably no reason to change the system if it works for everyone.

Either way... it's not like I'll ever create a unit, or spend the money on a custom stem... but If any maker does want to utilize any of the ideas, I'd most likely buy it. I thought companies like user feedback?

And it was probably just that stem... and they offered to send a new one, but the reason for returning the unit was being informed I was not able to use it indoors right after receiving it. I actually think the enano is one of the best options for a vaporizer right now. It's exactly what I look for in a vaporizer.

Anyways It's a bad idea putting those smaller screens wrapped in hemp as it could loose its placement without hemp fiber at the top. I'm gonna delete that. i'm an idiot.

I have put baskets in and out of stems and GonGs and never got even close to damaging the glass with the basket wires.

I don't know, I would say you got a bum stem as there is no way that a screen basket should be chipping or scoring a boro stem (or so I believe until corrected).

    Cheers

in four years of production, I've never heard of anybody damaging the stem from moving/removing the screen.
@dontmindme returned the unit unused and with no stem damage.

Whoa... that's a great sale considering if you were to buy a unit it'd add up to 200 almost for a standard. Are these gift cards digital or an actual physical card? And with the free shipping code...

SWEET!!! Just added another item to flotntoke's Christmas list for Santa. Still don't know how he does it, but somehow he gets me things and has the money deducted from my account. :hmm:

He waits until I get way stoned and orders shit online all the time. Even when it's not Christmas. I like the stuff, but he's always screwing up my budget - Bastard! No "special" butter cookies for him this year.

Oh yeah... here he is "working". Fat-assed old stoner! He's always digging into my stash, too.

I guess for me having a universal mouthpiece would be nice but not an important factor. Definitely not a deal breaker IMO. Taste and great flavor wins the race.

The thick strong stems are the nano's strong suit compared to something like the thin Solo stems. Each stem that's made for that particular log vape - fits like a hand in a glove for the most part, each glass piece can be a bit different. If a stem is off in size Epic will give you an exchange. The Nano stem will sometimes withstand a fall. That doesn't happen very often with the thinner stems made for other vaporizers.

I prefer the adjustable stems verses the permanent screen glass stems. If usining a glass screen you can always use a metal screen they are easy enough to cut if you wanted to add that on top. The holes are pretty large so using nuggets works best.

When buying a vaporizer think long term. Will this last you 6 months or a year or much longer?
I'm confidant the nano will last me for many years to come. You want to get your money's worth. Speaking of $ the Enano uses less cannabis than all my other units. You will save on the cannabis budget from the get go.:2c::peace::leaf:

Here is the first and only stabilized maple E-Nano. It is infused with resin and dye so it is not 100% natural like the rest of our E-Nanos but I had to try one. There is no wood in our air path so the resin doesn't affect the flavor, but it does make it run a little hotter. The blank alone cost me $100. She sure is pretty in person. I'll post a high res pic later today as well as put it on the website for sale for $325.

I received my D020-d today. I popped my warm cherry Nano up on top and experienced one of the smoothest sessions in recent memory. Or distant memory for that matter. Of course, I can’t even remember what I had for dinner tonight, but that might also have something to do with that smooooth experience I’m talkin’ bout. Woo. Thanks to the vast Nano nation, an interconnected web across the planet spreading warmth, love, and good vibes to all mankind, for helping me find the right bubbler. Special shout out to @flotntoke.

May your days be merry and bright, and may all your water tools be white.

At this point I’ve been using the D020-d exclusively. It hasn’t left the Nano’s side since it arrived. It really does add a new dimension. I was also surprised at how quickly it arrived considering the season. 13 days from ordering it to receiving it, with Christmas and a postal holiday in between. Well played Sunshinestore, well played.

I recently ordered some glass that also came within 2 weeks from the sunshine store. Nice thick glass too.

One a side note, I'd like to add that the nano is very efficient at extracting my herb goodies. It takes me 3-4 hits to get most of the medicine out of a bowl while using the nano. With my recent portable, the same size load requires like 8-10 hits to get the same level of extraction. While the ritual of vaping is enjoyable, sometimes I want to just hit it and quit it a bit faster. The nano doesn't fuck around.

I can't wait to have more access to concentrates.
