Hey everyone! I am looking to get a decent quality, straight tube for my son. He will eventually break it, so I don't want to spend more than like $150. It needs to be thick, I'd like some diffusion (he smokes), but it can't be impossible to clean (he smokes, hehe). He likes them larger than 1 foot. He had the RX Industries straight tube with an ash-catcher for a long time, but it broke.

So, does anyone have a site or a know of a blower that specializes in this type of glass? I have a bunch of LHSs here, but online is usually better for price.

    Thanks!

Should've kept that HVY tube you had!

Nah, it was way too small for him. But HVY is an option at several of the LHSs around here. Speaking of size, I just tried my new Strato. This thing is a fucking beast! It is way to big for my liking, but it's so impressive I think I have to keep it.

You could grab a 9 mm Straight Shot 12"-24" for $150 or less from glassblowersdirect.com

http://www.kultureva.com - Has some pretty thick straight tubes as well.

Hit up Leviathan. 7mm glass... I believe they're 18" tubes. Maybe 20". Trust me. I've kicked my bubbler across the bathroom floor, slammed it to the floor, with a cabinet door. My 22" tube with the giant showerhead, has been knocked over, more times than I care to remember. Not a single scratch, or crack (knock on wood).

They're built like tanks, no joke. Think they run around $100 - $125. I'll check.

+1. My bubbler has seen a lot of bumps too. Its the only piece I'm willing to take unprotected out of my plushly carpeted office.

I'll also chime in and say a leviathan piece would be a good option.

Since you've mentioned it'll probably be taking a bit of a beating, you'd def want 7-9mm glass thickness. (everything by leviathan is 7mm thickness minimum.)

Also, have you checked out the Steele concept?

I believe they are $300, so it's definitely over your budget, but it's essentially unbreakable.
So if youre limiting it to $150 because you want to get a nice piece that will be acceptable/replaceable if it breaks, the Steele could save you some $$$ in the long run :peace:

Hmm... I like that showerhead. How hard is it to clean something like that after it's been smoked out of?

Iso and salt + shaking has always done it for me. I'm sure any brand of bong cleaner would work too.

I'd just get one of the straight tubes and an ash catcher. I know you're concerned about durability, but I think it's generally agreed that most breaks occur during cleaning. An A/C lets you clean the bong less frequently. Also, maybe you want to get a carbon filter from Oregon Glass blower: http://www.ioffer.com/selling/oregonglassblower

I saw the video on the Lev thread of his ashcatcher. How much are those? Also, how do I buy this stuff? I went to his website but that was no help.

So, I am really considering the straight tube with an ashcatcher, or maybe even the showerhead if his ashcatcher are too expensive for me.

Now, I don't like either label, but my son won't care as long as it's quality. Which label do they have M&M or Lev?
  15. Frederick McGuire Aggressively Loungey

    +1 on the carbon filter.
I got a cheap ($10-15) black leaf one for my EHLE 250ml for letting friends combust through, and it keeps the tube amazingly clean for combustion.

Yea, in fact I originally thought I would buy one. Then I was told that since I live in Rhode Island I would have to pay retail at a LHS that sells them, and they would not let me buy one through the website at the discount price. Needless to say this does not sit right with me. And I don't know, it seems like an awful lot for a poly and steel tube.

I really think I want the Lev in some form. I read that thread for a while, but I'm not sure where to go to buy them...

All you have to do, is hit him up on his Facebook page. He will make the arrangements with you. Its the link in his sig, our just look up Leviathan Pipes.

As for cleaning, my piece its the same setup, except its twice the size, with a giant showerhead. Easiest, but slowest... is fill it with Simple Green, let it sit.

I'm usually swinging mine around in the bathroom, with iso. Never even had to put salt in. Sparkles like the day I got it.

The ac, I think retails for $90, so there might be a break for FC members, which would make it around $77 bucks. But don't quote me on that one.

While you may be disappointed that it's arriving after Christmas, once the tube comes, you'll forget all about that disappointment. ;) Lev does great work and I know your son is going to love it.

Maybe do one of those wrapped box in a box in a box things with a pic inside of the last one?

There's a pretty good review video on YouTube, by two stoner dudes. They've got like 6 different versions of the M&M Tech single and double lattice percs, straight and bent. Though, I think they keep referring to it, as a honeycomb. Lemme see here...

I want one... Bad. But, I have a lattice, so one of these is a distant dream.

Only one I've seen from them. Though they do get one thing wrong. They said 5mm. Look art the bases. Its the same 7mm as all the rest. They are badass tubes. bOObs should note the guys opinion on the single, for concentrates.

bit off topic, but since the OP is interested: this thread details a perfect way to clean glass - one that involves very little agitation, and therefore a lower risk of breaking your glass. I believe the link to the product in the thread is wrong though, so here it is. $19.50 + shipping is a pretty good deal for 4 lbs., which should give you several months of cleanings.

OK, the Lev piece didn't happen, so I decided to go to my LHS and look around. It took a while but I found this Blue Dot Glass tube. It was around $160 and I got a 20% discount. It's very thick and made in the US. THe perc is very unique, to say the least!
