1. What does SSTB mean? See our glossary of acronyms.

Does BHO coat your lungs? Does water in the Bong help? Is that why I see tiny bong / oil rigs?

You ever been doing something for a long time ( like I've been using BHO constantly for the last 1 and 1/2 years ) then you realize omg where is all that oil going?

I swear to gud maybe I'm just high and making up shit to be worried about, but maybe not

My lungs feel good. My old oil rig is a reg bong with water. But looking at my bong I see the weirdest oil globs coming out of it. I have a reclaim catcher and I been cleaning it for the last year, you know those big tar balls that got to be cleaned out.

    anyway

I stopped using water with my Sublimator using it like an e-nail cause the BHO tasted better without water. Hell I've even hit directly off the down stem for some "suicide hits" that were very intense.

Today using the old rig I started wondering. Was the water holding all that wierd tar from entering my lungs? Then I think about these tiny oil rigs? Is that why people have them? Should there be some water filtration between me and the BHO?

the oil is absorbed by your lungs. it does not coat like say combustion residue would. actually I find oil to help with clearing mucus from my airways.

as for your rig... part of that is flat waste. oil condensed by the cooling of water then sticks to the glass.

you see people useing small tiny rigs to prevent what you see before you. I have 2 oil recyclers. 1big 1 little. the big one collects residue much faster due to its volume and cooling capacity.

what my lungs absorb oil? really? cause it takes 90% alcohol just to get the stuff off your skin...... right?

yeah I figured the water was taking away from the hit so I been using this new glass with no water.. Or lately I been just using the downstem on the end of the Sub.... doing it that way you can really feel it and taste the oil in a new way..... I'm just kinda worried cause ya know the light that burn brightest is usually the shortest kinda thing on my mind.....

you should try leaving the oil there, but lick it. see what happens.

the inside of your body is not cool and dry. its warm and moist and full of enzymes doing all kinds of stuff breaking things down.

your lungs are lined with membranes that have the capacity to absorb a number of things. think about it... if your body didnt absobe the vapor or smoke on the case of smokers you couldnt get high from inhaling it. ig would be pure suffocation bh asphyxiation that was making you feel funny.

so if we are to suggest that you get high from absorbing thc, cbd,cbn terpenes ,flavanoids exc. from vapor from vaping or smoking the herb... then inhaling the pure extract would be the same in a highly concentrated dose. thus eliminating all the potential irritants from the plant matter being heated.

the only risk is poorly made or purged exracts being contaminated by solvents.

I hope that doesnt sound like im being condescending. im actually trying to reassure you that if your extract is clean the only thing you have to worry about is your tolerance brother! :ko:

IME, anything in the vapor path will accumulate residue. Running a piece dry just spreads the available surface area for reclaim over a larger area (which isn't good or bad).

    Yes.

Farscaper, can you direct me to something that says the lungs have enzymes to break things down? That's a new one to me.

If the oil is not winterized it contains epicuticular plant waxes. Waxes are not readily absorbed by the skin as the molecule is too large. That means it's either staying in your lungs where you would notice reduced lung capacity over prolonged use (most likely false), or your coughing it up as mucus (most likely true).

What you see in the water is not bad stuff being filtered out, oil is not water soluble. Essential oil and plant wax is sticky, it adheres to glass, nothing strange there.

Small oil rigs are preferred for several reasons, the first is the flavor is much more intense due to the better vapor/air ratio of a smaller volume piece. Another is that you lose less oil to claim, again because of the smaller volume. Also hmk curves are the best for oil because all the claim stays in the stem, where it never comes in contact with water. The reclaim is tasty and not wet. They also have reduced tubing with provides a better vapor/air ratio than a nail setup (unless you use a carb cap).

The purpose of water is to reduce harshness and stop from inhaling ash. The cause of harshness is vaping at temps too high, and wax content in your oil. If you vape winterized oil at appropriate temps the only reason left to use water is to prevent inhaling char.

    you quoted me incorectly.

I said the lungs have membranes that are absorbant. not that they have enzymes. the enzymes would be related to the licking or eating of the oil.

Bad as in.... coats your lungs so bad that death is guaranteed? Bad as in not as much stuck oil that I can lovingly reclaim later? This reminds me of that Scary Movie where they rolled the stony dude up and puffed on his resonated body reclaim.

@farscaper I had to re-read your original post. It wasn't clear to me because of the paragraph break when you switched from talking about lungs to licking oil. I get you now.

Also, good to see you posting again @Detonator
