Divine Tribe atty's

If you have the lungs to go beyond 10 seconds I suggest you do so. Just repress the button before the 10 seconds is up. In fact the repressing is essential for this technique because by the 2nd or 3rd press, it should be firing around 4.1 volts

I never let time dictate my hits. I hit until I'm out of breath
My mod has shutoff @10sec :(

Just immediately repress fire button before 10 seconds is up. Do this as you continue to draw. No need to stop. If you want to be technical. Do a 9 second pulse until out of breath.

I'm about to pick up my replacement atty. With wax, do you guys like to load it in the center of the donut or on it?

I like to put my shatter balls in the center on the donut. My loads are a bit larger than the donut hole so the hole cradles the load. I find that it's best to not let the load touch the walls at all during loading. So I drop my ball in and use a metal pick tool to move it away from the walls and onto the donut hole. I do this out n about and at home 10-20 times a day with no issues. I pre roll my shatter balls for when I'm not home

Thanks @Steven ...you're a ton of help in this thread! I am finding it pools under the donut, so I will have to figure out how to get at that. I started at 13 amps and got some good hits and finished at off at 16 amps. Before that, and while it was clean, I stuck my thermometer on it to see how it behaved. The temp was set on 320. It got in the 200's within a couple of seconds and quickly shot up to the 300's. finishing in the 400's. I noticed when pulsing that it would jump 20 to 40 degrees in no time, but would cool down slowly, like a vape...maybe 5 degrees at a clip. Sorry I'm not more technical about it...this was my first time using the thermometer.

What mod are you using and how long are your hits. It will pool under the donut if you load too much or if temp or Wattage is too low. That's only if you intend to finish your load per hit. If not, having it pool under the donut isn't bad. It will get vaped there for further hits.

Mini invader.

I'm still figuring out how I want to hit it...I'm new to the concentrate scene. I was pulsing it during a steady draw at first, but then I remembered how you like to hit it with a constant button push. So at the tail end of the session I was hitting it for a good 10 to 12 seconds straight with the button held down. This made sense to me since I was trying to get at the stuff under the donut. I'm not sure if I am ready to hit it like that with a fresh dab on there!

I want two things...tasty, heady hits for daytime and hot, smashy hits for nighttime. I've got a VB2.0 on the way scheduled for a Thursday delivery, and I anticipate using it at 500 (or 550, whatever it is) for my first sessions of the day and at the high setting (I think 800 or 950) for the evening sessions. I would love to be able to get my methodology down with this thing to be able to mimic that as closely as possible.

Wow I'm so envious. The vb2.0!!! I've considered that creme of the crop but have yet to drop bank for that. Looks like you like the dabbing Temps. But your priorities line up with mines. In the daytime I use 300F at 16w on the invader mini. At night I go up to 350 at 16w. My hits are long so it allows the donut to heat up so if you have shorter breaths, I'd suggest raising the Wattage so the donut heats up faster. This may effect flavor because your essentially flashing the load with a high heat initially but is the only way for shorter hits I think. Check out this thread

I have a feeling I'm one of few who likes to finish their load completely in one hit. All I know is I load a smaller amount than what I would if I were to take a hit off a rig. So why should there be anything left in my donut if im loading smaller loads. Idk but that's my thinking behind what to expect after a hit. Seems many here take several hits off a bb sized load so that's going to make our experiences different. 1 load 1 hit

I go through 3-4 grams of shatter in a week, just to give you an idea of my tolerance. A 10 second draw won't tickle my throat at all.

I guess this is where we're different - I do 1 gram over a month (I mainly use oil out & about and flowers at home). So I guess I'm more of a sipper, even though it feels like I'm taking huge hits!

I'm still impressed with your 8 second button push. My device doesn't go below 3.6 Volts, and at that setting 8 seconds seems to give me some not so great tasting hits. I've come to prefer higher watts with 3-4 pulses lasting about 3-4 seconds each. This gets me where I need to be quickly. And each new button press automatically keeps the volts rising as the resistance of the cart rises, thus needing more volts to produce the wattage setting. This makes it such that my last few pulses need less time on the pushes, also due to the fact that the donut is already warm and ready to go.

I like to put my shatter balls in the center on the donut. My loads are a bit larger than the donut hole so the hole cradles the load. ^^^^This! I've been doing this for a while now with great results. It's so much easier dropping in a pre-rolled shatter ball that perfectly fits the hole of the donut. The only difference is I'm letting mine last for about 2-3 sessions. I don't worry about product getting below the donut as that gets vaped too. I also prefer it a bit since it helps reduce the splatter onto the mouthpiece.

Last night was great with this thing (mini Invader and donut atty)! I started at 10 just for kicks and got some nice taste with no visible vapor. On up to 11 and started getting hits. I camped out there and stepped up until I was at 14 getting lots of good hits. I can't attest to its durability, but its function is exactly what I wanted...something to hit bigger than the VB11/Ophos stuff that can hold more at once for more time away from reloading. Once it gets some pooling in the bottom it seems to hit forever, and the power in the battery is obnoxious. I've used it with my e-cig tank and it hits hard, but gets warm at around setting 16, so I keep it below that.

I am not using the temp setting for now. When I first got it I had it set like in Matt's video at 40-something with temp set to 220. I got one session in before it failed, and it may have been due to the high power setting. Either way, I'm staying below 20 for a long time. The unit is a bit heavier than I would like (I've been losing weight and my pants are already falling off without a vape in the pocket to help), but that's the price of power, I guess!

Has anyone cracked a v2.5 open to see what is in the air passages? If anyone has a broken one that they wouldn't mind doing that to it's be appreciated.

@Skored. It seems what we are looking for out of a hit is totally different my friend. My setting will definitely not work for you. Nor your settings for me. Hope you find your sweet spot

No doubt! But I think we both found what works for each of us, and hopefully others find it all helpful. Just goes to show that everybody's different and there isn't just one way to use these things. I was mainly starting all this discussion for the people who kept asking, "what's the best wattage to get this thing to hit well". As we clearly discovered, there are many ways to to tweak for performance. And sometimes, I'll hit it different in the day (looking for lower temp head highs) than in the afternoon (looking for higher temp body highs or more of a full spectrum hit).

Ultimately, I had to learn to control my temp since I don't have a TC device. That's where I hope my knowledge helps people, because the one thing I found was a button push for too long will raise the temp to an undesired level. Seems like my info is useless to anyone using a TC device, which seems like the way to go to prevent that bad burn hit, no matter how long the button is pressed.

Is there an actual hole in the middle of the donut or just a depression? If there's a hole, wouldn't putting the ball of shatter into the hole cause a bunch of material to leak underneath the donut?

That's exactly right. There's a small ceramic cup below the donut that holds what drips through the hole. But, the ceramic heats up on both sides, so it vaporizers product below the donut as well. Sometimes the layer of oil is a bit too far below the donut. You can always fire it upside down and get it to drip back to the underside of the donut for better vaping.

Any reason not to get Joyetech Evic-VT for use with this atomizer? I like that it can handle "standard" resistance atomizers rather than just sub-ohm stuff. I also like the aesthetics better than the Mini Invader. Someone mentioned the Evic-VT would jump out of temperature control mode, but someone else said that was just when the leads were loose.

Any other opinions on this mod?

Thanks!

Ayyee... I have an Evic-VT. It's pretty awesome, but, yeah, it does jump out of temperature control. It isn't just when the leads are loose, it happens on perfectly sound tanks (at least the 3 I tested). And it happens enough to be an inconvenience. Other then that, I have nothing to complain about. Battery lasts forever and it looks great.

I'm not sure if the Evic will give you temp. control on the donut... It won't with my w9tech donut.

First off thanks to Steven and Skored for the thoughtful input , It's nice to see two worlds collide and see a mutual respect for vaping styles ... for me here is my two cents.

I keep playing with the temps from 200f to 240f on the mini invader, small sessions and keeping the piece clean give me results and making me feel this is the best atomizer for wax and shatter available.

some People are talking about leaking,, i HIGHly suggest cold clearing. meaning at the end of your hit let off the button and keep hitting it so that it clears all the intake holes as your concentrates are hardening. keep the intake holes clean for the next hit and avoid hot oil from running down the intake holes. for best results get your wax right on the center of the donut hole and melt it to it by pressing the button for a second . this will keep the wax from flying upward as your drawing your hit.. I LIKE THE SHALLOW BOWL MORE THAN THE DEEP BOWL, less stress with getting and keeping the wax right on the donut. but some are saying they are getting fatter clouds with the deep bowl. This is why i offer both.
does anyone have the IPV3Li i hear it is good?

This doesn't actually work, that's why I mentioned it. Stopping power to the ceramic heater, even briefly, before it is hot enough to properly pulse does not work well. (I'm using 13-16w, as ~20w was the kiss of death for my previous unit) I end up never getting hot enough, even through several cycles. And if the timer expires, I am forced to stop for several seconds while my mod performs it's little light show. I'll keep experimenting. I tried it with one of my ceramic donut wicks and I didn't feel it was better or worse with the wick.
As far as loading: do these shatter balls people are using have a weight associated with them? Like 0.1g? 0.2?

I'm kind of at a loss at what you are talking about. Press and hold button for 8 seconds. Then within half a second, let go of button, then immediately hold button and continue until out of breath. It's basically to reset the 10 second off switch mods have. How is doing that not letting the donut get hot enough. It actually only continues to get hotter??? I don't mean 8 seconds on and 8 seconds off

As for the shatter balls I do not weigh them but it's a bit larger than a bb gun bb and smaller than a pea. Slightly bigger than the donut hole

I dunno how much more clearly I can say that your directions don't work with my device. Maybe my Mod thinks it's supplying more power than it is, I'll test it with a multimeter. Currently, to get clouds using your method would take more time than I have breath for.

Edit: I forgot my mod has a history of button issues; I will do a tear down and rebuild tonight, see if the button is the source of my consternation.

Thanks for wax ball size comparison.

Got my 2.5 today. Paired it with a istick 40w tc. Really digging this atty. 340f seems to be sweet spot for me right now.

So my button failure was causing a large portion of my failure to reach temp -- sometimes the button would be released mid-hit without me knowing. Apparently that's a known issue with the iStick 50w, especially the early release ones like mine. I repositioned it, and I'm able to get the donut up to temp easier.

I still am underwhelmed by performance, but I actually got a few hits.

Should I be loading enough to submerge the donut (like some coils are meant to be used) or just one ball at a time? I've been doing it 1 hit at a time, but the efficiency (at least with the deep bowl) seems lacking.

I have a bit of splatter (probably need to work on my button use, now that it's working right), but more importantly, much of what I load ends up on the walls of the skillet and that's that. Again, this may be a button technique issue, but maybe the deep skillet is worse due to the extra few mm of depth?

In my experience it is a layg at ty. I actually get really good efficiency too. Your load should be small enough where it does not touch the side walls.

Even when loaded correctly, splatter onto the cap and side walls can be easily done if you have a hard inhaling hit. I really suggest milking it slow and gentle. This is the very reason why my hits are so long. I milk it SLOW. As gentle as I can as a matter of fact. Also keep the piece leveled when hitting if you aren't.

This is just my preference for milking anything. I don't like to put any strain on my lungs at all during vaping. But I am aware that everyone's natural hit is different but I also must say I had to hone my slow draw. I will always get mad splatter when having group sessions but very little alone. I have a bubbler attachment and it helps cuz I hit it gentle enough to where I feel every bubble pop.

Try the shallow atty maybe but I don't have any problems with the deep bowl. It's probably true that it's easier to load the shallow bowl but I think it's easier to clean the deep bowl. Also I always hear bad things about the isticks. Maybe look into a more reputable mod if possible
