Success story with the Carta!

My parents are in their 60s. My dad has no issues with vaping, he used to smoke cigarettes and weed when he was younger so inhaling wasn't an issue with him. My mom on the other hand has never smoked anything in her life until I started to bring around my vaporizers a couple years ago.

At first we tried the Extreme Q, but she would always cough and say she didn't feel anything. Then eventually I got a Davinci IQ, my dad had no issue, my mom still didn't feel anything. Eventually I started to get into cartridges and still my mom never felt anything.

Me and my dad believed she just wasn't inhaling properly, no matter how much we tried to explain or little tricks to try to inhale.

Tonight, I finally brought over the Carta and figured this has got to do something. It is dabbing + water, if this didn't work I give up. Well, I filled up a nice amount and started the hit to get a nice milky vape in the glass and passed it to her. She took her hit and within 5 seconds, her eyes popped open and she said "Wow, I felt that"

Then we proceeded to do 3 more dabs, had some dinner and watched the movie "Us"

Looks like I'm going to be having to take the Carta with me now every time I go over there.

I just got my first replacement unit...moved on from replacement atomizers. Is the glass unit supposed to be crooked at all? It’s been a while since I had my carta so maybe i’m confused but the glass isn’t completely flush and there’s a little give between the glass and the base. Anyone else encounter this?

The two stock glass pieces I have fit tight/snug on the base. The Helix glass piece I have is loose on the base. They all appear to be straight on the base.

Yeah I figured that was the case. I’m over focus and their paperweight, the carta.

I felt that way about another company when my unit was like the 2nd to Brick and I didn't give them a chance and they turned out to be a pretty decent vape.

That is a bummer man, but does it effect preformance on yours? I love my Carta and not only is the glass a little tilted but I have to resync my base every time I use it with the app along with a few other minor issues.

But to me those are not issues worth turning my unit over and not having use of it for a week or so cause the Carta has changed my entire apartments routine and has saved me more money than Vaping herb ever did...by a long shot. Not to mention sharing one unit between 3 people who actively dab is a PIA. We don't even keep the Enail constantly powered on anymore.

Hope you give it another chance man, they are powerhouses when up and running. But either way I get ya and I'm not criticizing.

I can take a picture of my base and it might not be as tilted as yours maybe?

Have you tried your first glass on your second base? It's too bad you continue to get bad units. Maybe it's some user error? Just too bad because it's rocking for me still. Same original base, original atomizer hitting hard all day, back to back to back.

Same here. The Carta has been a workhorse for me. Still rocking the first atty on V2 Carta. I average 30-35 dabs a day and have over 800 dabs on the 1st atty. I haven’t used it in awhile but, OG V1 Carta was still going strong with the original V1 atomizer. I’m still waiting for the dry herb atty but, so far the Carta has been a reliable beast for me. I don’t even use a rig anymore.

It sucks that some people have had multiple issues with units they have received but, from my own experiences with the Carta I think it is just bad luck.

Guys Guys Guys, The Carta is a Terrible paperweight. But it is a great dab rig lol! We will be providing updates on the status of a few new beta team items that will be coming next. Thanks again to all who have supported us we have seen insane growth and its crazy to thing not but 5 months ago it was like 10 of us on here and IG live lol. ( Make sure to checkout the livestreams! )

Wanted to drop in and mention we finally have our staff trained out and up and running fully now. So unfortunately with that being said I will no longer be answering the customer service calls myself :D good but like a bitter sweet lol. If you guys want to chat directly with me here or IG is always a good place. but make sure to checkout my account directly randall_focusv

Moving on to the Black and or White Carta's. We need to get a list going for what you would want the serial or the engraving to be. We can start with just simple messages here in the PM or we can get a form up either way. Id like to hear your thoughts on what to do next with that.

I wanted to take some time to thank you guys for always sticking up for us on here, IG, Reddit etc... I know my team and I do our best to service every customer and there needs. sometimes no matter what you do for a customer they take things very personally and fill slighted by the company personally. This is when we end up with things like people going spam comment crazy on IG or forms etc.. (some people just want others to feel as bad/mad as they do i think) but nonetheless we will continue to support everyone!

(oh man one guy called in very drunk and cursed me out, then emailed in and said I cursed him out and that i was drunk!) just a good example of the daily dwellings of customer service haha

Anyways, I think it's about time for a quick morning wake and bake on IG. be there or be haze square.

Hey guys, Im interested in this device and Im wondering what do you mean by paperweight?
Does anyone tested the carta for dry stuff only?
how long the batteries last?
Does every carta comes with 2 glass adapters? that helix one and that other one?
how does it compares to the mighty in signature with dry herbs? I know this is a water rig, I saw the spare boro part priced quite expensive.
Is it us or european made device or china? what is the life expectancy of it ?

Carta comes with 1 glass piece. Spare stock glass is something like $30 usd. This is the best portable dab rig, and as a nice extra,it is capable of dry herb vaporization. Not designed to compare to the mighty. US design, China manufactured. 3 year warranty on the unit, so they expect it to last a fair bit.

Damn I just saw the spare glass for like 120-150 here in europe :D Im wondering if anybody got chance to test the dry herb vaporization with it and can compare it to other vapes.

Here to report back on the repair kit and the dry herb atty.

First the repair kit—

After seeing the IG previews, I was thinking that the tweezers, case, and wire cutter was overkill. I have rebuilt a fair bit of atomizers over the years, so I have proper tools. Given that I was presently surprised at the quality of the overall package and usefulness of the kit.

Started by deconstructing an atomizer that had kicked after about 300 dabs. Found the kit tweezers to be especially helpful removing a piece of wire coating that keeps the leads from shorting against the atomizer body. Dunked the metal parts in some iso for a bit and scrubbed with a couple of qtips. A quick dry of the housing and I made quick work of installing the new heater. All in all, a 5 min job, with the bulk of that being the iso cleanse. Rebuilt Atomizer works flawlessly. A+++

Dry Herb atomizer—-

Not a big herb vaper these days, so my material is more than a bit dry. Went with a fine grind and a light pack at 480* produced a light vapor with first 25-30 rip. Failed to produce on a second drag, so stirred a bit and had another nice tasting and cloud producing hit. Stirred a coupe of more times with similar results. ABV was a color consistent with my Vapcap M, from a similar size load. Probably won’t use the herb atomizer a whole lot, but certainly could rationalize getting rid of a couple of my older herb vapes because this can serve that purpose when need-be.

Not sure I've heard this one before, my dry herb atty fires up but then flashes all led's green and stops. Takes all of maybe 2 seconds for it all.

Bad atty? I think it read it fine when I checked the app.

Is your unit fully charged? I think Randal has shown on IG that it will do something like that when it calculates it won’t have enough battery to due the length/temp combo on the current battery level...

Try making atty more loose or tighter..Sometimes you just have to do that for the atty to connect right to the base..Happens to me sometimes too..Good luck..

I think I had just changed the set, but I will try it again tonight and verify that first. It would make sense with how it reacted.

This I did try. I tried a number of "settings" with tightness and until it was loose enough to stop making a connection, it acted the same.

Guessing the new unit will connect immediately just like mine did. Inconsistent early batch of radios or assembly of early units I'm guessing as the culprit. FV has been great with this unit launch and CS!

I'm really excited to see this take off and get some custom stuff going. Glass, buckets, usage styles, let's see it people!

**Edit - So, it wasn't battery level either. Tried again with fully charged batteries and it did the same thing. So I took the temp way down and set it to 2 min on the timer thinking maybe they weren't great (although new) and no matter how low the temp or time, same result.

CS has been great, I'm sure we'll work this out.

As somebody who is mainly concerned with concentrates these days, I didn't think much of the dry herb atomizer beyond it being a cool novelty the Carta features over the competition.

However, having used the atomizer for about a week, I find myself to really be enjoying it.

The key to success is definitely stirring. Similar to @Hoosier's experience I found vapor production to be lacking without (after the initial hit).

The standard runtime gives you plenty opportunity to get a few stirs in & still take breathes between.

I also concur with @Hoosier that the AVB looks good in color, similar to other devices I've used; can't wait to make some edibles with it later on!

That being said, anybody that is looking for a base/travel station for the Carta, I've created a modular one I have up for sale at portablerigaccessories.com. The stock (modular) configuration comes with dual battery, dab tool, & q-tip holders. The top part also separates from the base, if you just want to use it as a stabilizer at any time.

Would love to hear feedback on what other people would want included in future modular tops!

(Sorry mods if this is the wrong place, please remove if so.)

Anyone know a site selling carb cap tethers that work with the Carta?
Slickvapes has the peak tether and carb cap both for 20$ they work with the carta though not specifically for it.

Will the repair kit be on their website soon? Thanks

Nice! You've done everything the right way as far as I can tell, always gonna get some crazies no matter what. Glad you will now have a larger team to support you in supporting others! Keep up the good work, looking forward to more continued growth for FocusV and trying out the finalized Carta myself of course!

I got to test the “everlast” atomizers yesterday and I think they’re going to make a lot of people happy. The ceramic heating plate is encased in a layer of stainless steel to protect against wear and tear. The cups are fitted to the stainless steel shell, and the fit is more snug than the current atties, so the cup doesn’t wobble around before you twist the cap on. There are ti, quartz and ceramic cups, though idk if all 3 will ultimately be available. I believe Randall said he would be sending some out to the beta squad for testing first, which would obviously be awesome.

One thing I immediately noticed was how much better the ceramic cup felt in the everlast, where there wasn’t that grating ceramic against ceramic feeling. The first ceramic dab I took was wispy but tasty, and it snuck up on me hard in a couple minutes. I think the ceramic + stainless combo is gonna be killer. Everlast quartz was also great - I took a rosin dab at 644 that milked up immediately and knocked me flat on my ass.

The tradeoff is the everlasts take a few extra seconds to heat up, which is ok since it’s so quick to begin with. I need much more testing to confirm, but you may also need to go a notch higher on temp to get comparable hits to the current atties. Some people will be perfectly fine with the current ones, and others will definitely prefer the new ones. Not sure yet if there would be any reason to switch between both. But the point is the company listened to customer feedback and created this really nice durable atomizer for people who wanted it. How awesome is that?! There are companies whose entire business model is trapping you to constantly replace parts; @FocusV continues to demonstrate all they care about is making the best rig on the market.

fwiw I haven’t had any atomizer issues whatsoever since I swapped my base 2 weeks ago. Dab counter is currently at 311 (amber is the color of my...concentrate?), mostly on a single atomizer that I fixed with my rebuild kit.
