Cannabis Sativa: The Unconventional "Weed" Allergen

I found this recent (Nov 2014) journal article that reviews the existing medical literature regarding cannabis/hemp allergy. I found it to be an interesting read and thought I'd share:

if cannabis were growing wild everywhere like all other plants then allergies would be the norm but cannabis is bred indoors mostly so no one really breathes in much cannabis sex like we breathe in other plant sex in spring. once legal and everyone grows it expect allergy response to go way up.

I've met exactly one person who said she was allergic. She didn't even want to touch it, she said the first and last time she smoked she thought her throat was swelling, then she was in the hospital being told she was allergic to it because she was allergic to it. Hell, people are allergic to everything, we're not perfect. While not an actual histamine-releasing allergy, people can be "allergic" to water!
