Marijuana Legalization Bills Already Filed In Half A Dozen Red States For 2019 Sessions

On Wednesday, lawmakers in Kentucky and West Virginia put forward pieces of legalization legislation, the latest in a growing list of states where the thought of lawmakers even considering full legalization would have been implausible just a couple years ago.

Legislatures in Indiana, Missouri, Texas and Virginia could also vote on legalization bills that have already been introduced this year.

Some of us just may be under the last domino. We just have to try and not let the police baton fall on us before that last obelisk falls and we win our freedom. Lest we end up as this guy (I doubt my state would ever let go of anyone already in the system):

Marijuana industry boosts DC lobbying team
The Cannabis Trade Federation (CTF), a nonprofit to educate and advocate for cannabis in public policy, has hired 15 lobbyists to push the Strengthening the Tenth Amendment Through Entrusting States (STATES) Act, the group first told The Hill.

The bill would protect state laws regulating marijuana use from the federal government.

Congressman introduces federal bill to regulate marijuana like alcohol
A bill introduced by U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, a Democrat from Oregon, seeks to regulate marijuana like alcohol.

The bill introduced Wednesday would take marijuana off the federal controlled substances list and establish a nationally regulated industry overseen by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

Nice bills, too bad you are probably going to have to wait until 2021 for a vote on them.
That partisan hack Senate majority leader McConnell is not going to let the Senate vote on anything Democratic congress passes just to spite them.
Including the end of government shutdown (unless the donors start calling in angry that their businesses needs a working infrastructure).
That man has even fillibustered his own bill the mmoment Demorats admitted they actually liked it.

I got annoyed by the commenters' lack of peripheral vision. I posted "The mention of financial drain distracts from the solution: liberate it enough so it can be had for free. De-commodify it.

The technology behind the world's largest cannabis dispensary

Las Vegas is not a town for half measures. So it's of little surprise that when the state of Nevada legalized recreational cannabis in July of 2017, Sin City took the cannabis dispensary model and added a bit of Vegas' over-the-top magic. The result: Planet 13, a 40,000 square foot dispensary -- the largest of its kind anywhere on Earth.

Planet 13/Medizin was my favorite dispensary in Vegas when I lived there. Million Dollar Baby and Mango Kush were both really awesome.

...once again, this will only be the case IF YOU PLANT THE SEEDS, yes? And use the offspring as your next crop? Then do it again?

I would think that an open-pollinated standing crop, being pollinated by a different variety (ie fiber/medicine/hurds) season after season would definitely affect the crop in short order, because the ‘foreign’ polllen’s DNA is rapidly diluting the DNA of the original stand, which is not being replenished at the same rate. In other words, I agree with what you say, and I maintain that this only matters if you’re using the out-fertilized (?) seeds instead of known seeds from known sources.

The worst you could really say is that you only have seeded bud now.

yeah, it matters if the person wants to reuse the seeds next year( the way we used to do IT) . selective breeding, culling out bad stcok and keeping the healthiest examples to grow next year... if hemp seeded your crop Fuhget aboub it

It is pretty early for measurable results but I can't see this trend continuing. Lot of folks consume both together but I suspect there are many like me that have mostly given up alcohol for cannabis. My change was mostly one of preference rather than legal availability, but the trend seems clear. I think there are gobs of people who have only eschewed cannabis use because it is illegal, and legalizing will be the last veil...

The last couple of years I've asked here about parties people go to. Do you go to any general parties of larger groups where cannabis is freely available to all? Perhaps a big dab rig next to the keg?

I haven't. Absent a party that is pot-centric for some reason, you just don't see open private use around acquaintances you don't know that well--even though I'm in a recreational-legal state. It might be less true with younger folks who have grown-up in the regulatory state, but not so much in my circle of friends.

One issue is employment and the proliferation of pictures on social media. My employer does not give a shit if it is legal in your state, they are zero tolerance. Until it’s off Schedule I, it’s a problem.

I suspect the other issue is the ‘stigma’ and stereotype (stoner/burnout). Cannabis has always been associated with many things main stream wants nothing to do with. It will take time for those images to wain and the stigma to go away, it’s a cultural change. I do not think you will see the VRod next to the keg regularly until about 10 years after Cannabis is removed from draconian Schedule I.

I live in Canada and even though its legal the stigma remains. It will take some time till the reffer madness/devils lettuce mindset disappears.

To be honest I haven't really gone to those kind of parties in many years, and I am not in a legal (rec) state so I can't really answer your question. In most of the gatherings of my homies (if you will) for many years there has always been consumption of cannabis, fully accepted even by non users, but they were normally in someones home rather than any public venue (other than maybe in a park). Even in most places where cannabis is legal, public consumption is still not so it is really hard to say.
I think it will take some time even if/when schedule 1 falls and states open up for cannabis to get the public and social permission that alcohol enjoys, but it will come eventually I'm quite confident.

Governor Signs Bill Legalizing Medical Marijuana In The U.S. Virgin Islands

Medical cannabis was legalized in another U.S. territory on Thursday after the governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands signed a long-awaited bill into law, the legislation’s sponsor told Marijuana Moment.

The Virgin Islands Medical Cannabis Patient Care Act allows qualified patients to obtain, possess and consume marijuana for therapeutic purposes. It also establishes legal dispensaries and facilities to cultivate, test and manufacture cannabis products.

Do any of the islands practice reciprocity?
Do the Virgin Islands, Jamaica or any others, accept out of state medical licenses?
