We're all high lol, told my mum about this and...now she has my Fury 2 with a set of loaded capsules to see if it helps her. 76 years old and vaping her first weed tonight :p
That's a nice and refreshing story. I do strongly believe that using cannabis is a strong protection against age related mental disease. I think there is evidence of it being anti- Alzheimer's.
And I also feel vaporizing cannabis in particular can be very good for keeping the imagination healthy and flowing. So it is great that your mum is so open to this and taking it on board so willingly, wishing all the best for her and you as you try to help her along this path.

My mum also vapes she has an Omnivap which I built her from parts. I also gave her my Flowerpot Showerhead set up which I can't use myself because I wanted her to benefit from a superior medical device.
She doesn't ever use the Flowerpot I think it may be a little bit too much for her and it doesn't fit with the way she likes to medicate the vapcap is about her limit, but what she really prefers to do is use edibles instead she usually just eats a tiny dose of cannabis infused coconut oil each afternoon and that does her along with some glasses of red wine later in the evening.

But I am going to get her to try some dabs soon make sure you let your mum know about the Dabpress models lol! Amazing customer service with the highest quality products for the best price it would seem also with free worldwide Shipping and only a tiny Customs fee to expect at most.

Best of luck to you helping your mum learn how to use the healing plant.

Just a dude
EDIT: Not disputing @Skunkport but I found the article that got me worried and confused the other day. I’m linking it so that more clever members would chime in on their interpretations of it. :peace:

This article in the Independent is stating what I was talking about the other day as far as my concern for prescribing medicinal cannabis products in the UK, which is it’s not going to be cannabis flowers or concentrates but rather cannabis derived medications.

The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD), which conducted part of the Home Office’s review, has asked the Department of Health and Social Care and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency to promptly agree on a clear definition of what constitutes a cannabis-derived medicinal product.

Anything falling outside this as yet unspecified criteria will effectively remain a schedule 1 drug which is not considered to have any medicinal benefit.

“At present, cannabis-derived products can vary greatly in their composition, effectiveness and level of impurity,” said ACMD chair Dr Owen Bowden-Jones.

“It is important that clinicians, patients and their families are confident that any prescribed medication is both safe and effective.”

In its report, the ACMD said that raw cannabis of unknown composition should not be given the status of medication.

This means that pharmaceutical grade products such as Sativex and Epidiolex - which are manufactured in the UK - could be the first to be prescribed under the new licensing regime.

I’m not loving being so pessimistic but I just don’t have faith that the home office is not going to fuck this up. Intentionally. As recently as this summer when the WHO said cannabis was effective medicine, the home office was still holding to the same old lies and flat out said they didn’t agree with the findings and considered cannabis to be a harmful drug with no medicinal value and the NHS boss said the same!

But I do find at least some hope for common sense in the next section talking about recreational:

This will help patients with an exceptional clinical need, but is in no way a first step to the legalisation of cannabis for recreational use.”

Police forces have, however, declared they would be in favour of such a move with many turning a blind eye to minor offences provoking suggestions cannabis is being decriminalised by stealth.

I hope that I’m wrong but I simply don’t believe that the UK will follow the same path as countries like Canada, Portugal and some US states. It’s looking like it might be Big Pharma All the Way, to me anyway.

Fuckers.

As a UK resident but a US citizen, I wonder if there’s any possible wiggle room for me in the future? If you live abroad, then your official state of residence is the state you file taxes in. For me that’s Texas. So if a patient’s medical prescription has to be issued in the patient’s state of residence, then I’m screwed because Texas ain’t civilised at all, there’s no tentative plan for a future with medicinal cannabis AFAIK.

@dannydroid I think they will because the .gov statement says, 'The new law will not limit the types of conditions that can be considered for treatment'

It wont be that easy.

"They must make decisions on prescribing cannabis-based products for medicinal use on a case-by-case basis, and only when the patient has an unmet special clinical need that cannot be met by licensed products."

And even then, you won't be getting sweet nugs or anything (think more Sativex, and tbh, it will most likely just be some other shit from GW). It just means specialists are able to prescribe cannabis-based products without having to get to panel / run the risk of getting their medical licence revoked.

Like I said, this is good news for the people who are really sick (and I know there's some here) who won't have to suffer as much anymore, and will hopefully get some relief, but we are still a loooooong way off.

I keep seeing the same thing repeated over and over, so I'm going to Indulge in a little internet shouting to settle this .

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SATIVEX OR EPIDIOLEX.
THEY ARE ALREADY LEGAL.

The Independent clearly needs reporters who can actually fucking read.

The CMO’s report states that “using other forms, such as grown or street Cannabis, as a medicine for therapeutic benefit is potentially dangerous”.8 The ACMD agrees that raw Cannabis (including Cannabis-based preparations) of unknown composition should not be given the status of medication.

The actual report (from July) linked below is very clear, unlike the cherry-picked quote the Independent used. It's stating that it needs to be labelled with THC/CBD ect content.

Britain's first totally legal cannabis farm set to open in £10million warehouse at secret location
London-based firm Sativa Investments plans to splash out building a giant glasshouse

The mention of glasshouses is interesting as I wondered what route some would choose given the climate.
And they're going to ask Canada about strains!

Former Met police chief urges rethink on cannabis

Bernard Hogan-Howe says there is clear evidence to warrant review of prohibition
21 Oct 2018

The former Metropolitan police chief Bernard Hogan-Howe has urged the government to review the evidence that justifies the ongoing criminalisation of cannabis use after a host of leading clinical bodies called for changes.

Lord Hogan-Howe, who has always supported tough laws on cannabis, said that if he was home secretary he would hold an “urgent commission of experts to look at the evidence about what’s happening about cannabis in North America”.

  • 13% of UK adults - around 6.7 million people - plan to ask their doctor or healthcare provider about accessing cannabis medicines when these products become legal to prescribe on the NHS. (76% of the public would use a cannabis-based medicine if was prescribed by their doctor)
  • Public support for cannabis legalisation is at an all time high. The general public is almost twice as likely to support the legalisation of cannabis in the UK than they are to oppose it. 59% strongly support or tend to support the legalisation of cannabis, compared to 31% who strongly oppose or tend to oppose. (There has been a 37% increase in support since the May 2018 YouGov survey was conducted (from 43% to 59%), and accordingly opposition has fallen by 32% (from 41% to 31%).

    • Support for the legalisation of cannabis in the UK is strongest amongst younger age groups (68% SUM: support amongst 18-24 year olds) and falls with age (49% SUM: support amongst 65+ year olds).
65% of the British public think that our cannabis laws should be reformed. 40% support legalisation and a quarter (25%) call for the decriminalisation- where the sale and possession of cannabis should remain illegal but be regarded as a minor offence, such as parking in the wrong place, rather than a criminal offence

    • Only one third of the British population (34%) think the sale and possession of cannabis should remain a criminal offence. Older age groups are most likely to rank the continuation of currently policy as their preferred option (39% of 55-64 year olds and 43% of 65+s).

I’ll definitely qualify no problem, I’ve been through the NHS pain program at Addenbrookes and have 3 diagnoses for chronic chronic conditions. I’m having a big spinal surgery next month and after that’s over I’ll begin in earnest to see what is available or how to get a licence. I have no interest in synthetic medicinal compounds or isolated cannabinols though, and hope that this isn’t what they’re prescribing.

I’m trying not to get too excited or be too optimistic about this situation because the UK governmental bodies seems so strangely afraid and reluctant to even consider the benefits of medical cannabis. It’s like they cannot admit that they were either somehow wrong before or just slinging bullshit. Even now, like @dannydroid says they’re still trying to demonise “skunk” which is basically anything besides larfy dirt weed. These fuckers do my head in! I don’t want them telling me that low grade shit is medicine.

Gonna cross my fingers for you man! Can't see myself fooling anyone this early in the game, but i'll be thrilled to hear if you can drop your criminal status

Fascinated to see how this plays out, and very happy to see any movement at all.

House of Commons Health and Social Care Committee is asking for the public's views on medicinal cannabis

Accepting written submissions; the deadline is Friday 8 February 2019.

ImageVaultHandler.aspx.jpg

Scope of the inquiry
As the first part of a wider inquiry into the impact of drugs policy on public health, the Committee is seeking evidence on the usage of medicinal cannabis products. The Committee invites written submissions answering the following:

  • What does the current evidence base tell us about the efficacy of medicinal cannabis?
  • What plans are there for research into the medicinal use of cannabis, and what challenges are faced by that research?
  • How suitable are the current procedures for enabling the use of medicinal cannabis in appropriate cases?
  • Do practitioners have the knowledge and products available to them to confidently prescribe medicinal cannabis?
  • Is the current guidance around prescribing CDMPs fit for purpose?
  • What can we learn from the legalisation of medicinal cannabis and its practical implementation in other countries?
  • Have recent changes in the scheduling and availability of CDMP, and media attention around this, affected public opinion and behaviours in the UK?

Cannabis kits including bongs and grinders are sold openly in petrol stations, corner shops and supermarkets as police increasingly turn a blind eye to the illegal drug

PUBLISHED: 01:33, 30 December 2018

Cannabis paraphernalia is on open sale in high street shops across Britain, a shocking Mail on Sunday investigation has found.

Our reporters bought items used to consume the illegal drug such as pipes and bongs, along with grinders that break down herbal cannabis to make it easier to smoke. The accessories were often on display next to crisps and sweets.

Major retailers such as Londis and Esso were among those selling cannabis paraphernalia at some of their outlets.

Anti-drugs campaigners say the findings are evidence of the worrying normalisation of cannabis as a ‘tide that can’t be stopped’, with the police increasingly taking a ‘softly-softly’ approach and growing pressure for the class B drug to be legalised.

Dont let blair and brown stop u from viting for jezza! He consistently voted against everyone of their policies. Really a vote for jc is a vote against the neoliberal ideologys of blair, brown and cameron.

The LibDems were in coalition and couldn't legalise de weed. JC will ruin the country and he is a traitor.

There has always been a strong UK movement to legalise cannabis going back to at least the 1960s but like the USA there is strong religious opposition to it dressed up as concerns for people's health and the cohesion of society.

What is happening right now is you have a Tory leader election with several of the main candidates saying publicly they have smoked weed and healthy population of people my age and younger that have been on recreationals for years.

We know most of the scare stories are bullshit and we are willing to vote and stand up and minimise the damaging bigotry you get from the arsehole fascists that can ruin careers by pointing out recreational drug use.

You have to be an idiot if you think the police etc don't know that all these grow shops that have sprung up are people growing herb. There is one on a lot of high streets now.

We will follow the USA soon enough but we also need to be minded that we haven't followed the Dutch with coffee shops in what nearly 30 years.

People need to learn the scientific evidence around cannabis use so they can counter arguments against it. It is a no go for recommending it to anyone under 18 (save medical use under Dr supervision) and we cant dismiss some of the ways it effects some people.

UK advised to recruit former drug dealers if marijuana is legalised

Former drug dealers should be recruited and trained to produce safe, legal cannabis if the UK decides to legalise marijuana, the head of an American programme overseeing the sale of the narcotic has urged.

The Commissioner in charge of legal cannabis sales in Massachusetts has said Britain should follow her state’s example of recruiting ex-drug dealers and people from communities involved in what was once the underground market for marijuana.

They should all look into opportunities for those who were unfairly marginalized or outcast through years of punitive policies.
Reversing the decades of propaganda that you are unfit to work, socialize, drive or travel if you dabbled with satan's medicine in any form in your past! :o:nod:

And it makes all the more sense as we move forward in increments, how the government were understandably concerned about holding face and credibility in light of such hypocrisy, to change their tune so much.

Legalisation is a bit of a non-subject in the UK at the moment. Overshadowed by the all embracing farce that is Brexit and demonised relentlessly by most media outlets, the BBC being one of the worst for it.
Medical users can only get access to cannabis as a medicine in very rare circumstances or if enough media is antagonised and guilt the government in to prescribing very small amounts of oil or heavily processed medicines that contain cannabinoids. And even then, the licenses are revoked without warning, even in the most severe of cases.
I'm a medical user and I am self sufficient and it's the only way to access a medicine that actually helps my various and chronically impairing medical conditions. It's the only way I can guarantee the plant is not contaminated with heavy nutrient salts and is constantly the same and gives me the better relief to conditions that "traditional" controlled substances and dangerous synthetic opioids just don't help and alot of the time make worse.
I've been self sufficient for a long time and will carry on being so as cannabis will not be legalised hear for a very very long time. Not with a conservative government and certainly not with a communist traitor heading the opposing party. America isn't the only country with a 2 party system lol.
Fuck the government and legal access. Cops don't give two shits anymore in most counties so i take my chances :D
Grow in peace :leaf::D
