mod note: This thread is the result of topic drift in the TetraLabs California: GoldPen thread, so it doesn't get immediately to the subject. Do not be alarmed. Remain calm at your screen and all will become clear.

I haven't noticed any difference in PG over the past year. And I've also tried a few "e-cig" attys, none of which give the flavor that I get when using one of my DARTs. That said, the "bud" atty (version 4 from GotVapes) has come the closest for me (in taste), and I must admit, is MUCH more convenient. The next closest one I've tried with PG is the GotVapes Nano, which has a nicer mouthpiece and slightly less restricted draw than the bud, but has a slightly burnt taste all the time, and is harder to fill without making a mess. Maybe the burnt taste is due to the Nano's lower resistance (1.8Ω versus 2.2Ω for the bud). The Nano is also much harder on my lungs.

Vaping PG really requires low wattage, and none of my mods go much below 3.3v. I vape PG at that voltage, and wish I could (easily) try 3.0v. Higher power in any of my attys makes for a harsher, more burnt tasting, and more lung busting hit. For me, the "secret" for good PG vaping is low power and short duration (~2 sec) hits. A two second draw gives me a monster hit, with a monster vape cloud on exhale. Also, I've found that PG expands in my lungs more than anything I've ever done, including dozens of different (pressed) hashes; if I keep hitting until I feel I've had enough of a hit, it's always too much. Don't know if that's the case with all purified concentrates, as all I've done is PG.

I just got back from a four day business trip, and one bud cart filled with PG, along with a tiny eGo 450mAh battery (~3.45v), served me and my friends wonderfully the whole time. Really easy to load with no spilling or hassles, instant warm up, zero leaking, including the two times I had it in my pocket on the plane, and both the load (just under a gram of PG) and the battery lasted the whole five days. No burnt taste at all, and I could still taste the hint of d-limonene all the way to the end.

Edit: I want to edit what I said above about a two second hit. What I should have said is two seconds of powering the coil. I only hold the eGo battery power button for two seconds, but the hit itself is longer (maybe 5 or so seconds).

    Welcome to the site!
    I love PURE GOLD.
However FLOWERS and CONCENTRATES will always have their place.
    I use CARTOMISERS for PG
    6 x $35.00 1/2's = $210
    $9.00 cartomizer
$219 / 6 months = $36.50 per month once you have your power source.
    That's only for one medicine.
    FLOWERS?
    CONCENTRATES?

PURE GOLD is a one trick pony.
We need other flavors besides orange!

Medical Tools: FLOWERS, HASH or POLLEN PELLETS, DUAL WAX CARTS, PG setup!

You might want to try some bottom coil carto's for your PG. Much less wasteful, and with a good bottom coil rig you get as much flavor without as "harsh" a throat hit. And there's much less waste with a tiny wick at the bottom versus the multiple hanging octopus that the top coil carto you show uses. I vape 2.2Ω bottom coil cartos at 3.5V to 3.8V using a Vision spinner VV eGo style battery. Works like a champ. 4.0V or higher produces way too much vapor for my lungs.

The best bottom coil carto I've found is the Sapphire v4 "bud" carto. It's perfect for PG. It's known as the "buddy tech" carto in china, where it's made. The version that works the best is sold by GotVapes. They specified a different wick thickness and length, and made a number of other small mods to the standard "buddy" version. Their version does not leak, ever, and a number of mine have survived multiple trips in airplanes, fully loaded, with nary a drop leaking out, and working 100% after I landed. If it sounds like I really, really like them, I do.

GotVapes sells them in two packs for $6. The PG ampules load in perfectly, with zero mess or hassle. Just cut the tip off the ampule and stick it in the loading hole under the mouthpiece. No needles or funnels or anything else. It holds just about a gram of PG (two ampules), though I usually only load one ampule in a fresh carto, and refill with one ampule when the cart is 25% full (taking it to 75% full). I've put many grams through each carto, and they never burn out; I just replace them after a while when the draw starts to get a little restricted (after maybe 3 or 4 grams have been through it). If you run the carto dry, you'll find you only lost .05g worth of PG to the wick, etc. If you get a burnout (I never have), a hypo (15 gauge needle) will easily remove 95% of the PG in the carto, and re-insert it into your next carto.

For a full description, with pictures and videos, click on this link:

    GotVapes Sapphire 2012 v4 Bud Atomizer 1.5ml 510 2.2-2.4ohm-2PK

Here's a picture, you pull out the blue plug to fill the carto.

Here's another picture so you can see what it looks like on an eGo style battery:

They don't sell the kits anymore, and they're currently out of stock of the carto's, but they expect more in later this week or next, and they may even have some of the special cones/caps you see in the second picture. I really love this carto for PG. (And it works great with e-juice too).

Being as this is my 3rd 'post' on anything ever, it's probably in the wrong place, I have no idea. I have just spent 30 hours trying to find ORGANA Products In Los friggin Angeles. To no avail. Store after store says YES, until I join, suddenly the Honey Oil listing in the pre-membership menu becomes Generic HASH Oil with a cheap paper label. Suspicious! Anybody have an idea where I can get this stuff delivered? 5 hours on weedmaps.com was no help. Every listing was either wrong, not updated or entirely incorrect. Calls to Med-WEST resulted in a snotty "WE DON'T DEAL WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC' calls to Organa (while Very Pleasant...) resulted in confusion and more waiting for call backs (in a 'couple days')

    I use the OMNICROM carts.
The sticky or oily waxes seem to clog so I use mostly BLONDE DRY WAXES (Well Purged)
Back in the 70's we only had HONEY OIL. We did not have the Gizmos like today so we did not care about the texture as long as the effect was there!

It's all good and please I wish no harm on anyone.

I like a lot of medicine types has long as it's Cannabis based: FLOWERS; WAXES; HASHES and PURE GOLD!

Anyone ever weigh their half grams of PUregold? I just bought 2 half grams and the ampules were noticeably bigger than normal so I weighed them and one was .83 and the other .74 , suprised to see almost .1 difference. I'm curious how Much the ampule the PG comes in weighs by itself .

Yes, I did at first. Not easy to completely empty them (DubC advised 'just eat it'....which can be a little dangerous....) but I convinced myself that the weights were honest, the package varies a fair bit. I also questioned the glass vials when I bought several (no ampules available ATT). Selecting the 'most full' and 'most empty' of the group I had I found the vials vary a bit.

I believe it's metered out by 'constant displacement pump' like most drugs are, they control the dose not the package fill.

OTOH 'gram vials' of oils in the Dispensary can vary some in actual content, usually withing say 5%?

I clicked on your link and you sent me on a wild odyssey. ;~O I ordered replacement cartridges for my 'bud' pen (Exactly As Pictured Above) and even told them what the logo looks like in the order comment section.. that it say's 'bud' in lower case, with a Diamond Logo above the 'u' in 'bud'. Pretty clear. So my package arrives, it all looks right, I fill the cartridge with Canna Nectar go to put it on the battery and THE THREAD IS TOO SMALL! It is the wrong thing. It even has the Blue silicone Cork!
Now: The logo on the box has an all capitilized 'BUD' and a little gradients of boxes above the 'u' not a Diamond.

I had to Fill Out an Annoying Trouble Ticket and got this response:

"We do not carry nor will we ever carry anything for the "bud" pens as we do not delve into that part of the market. We are strictly ecigs only, handling the other stuff can kill our industry. I think you probably meant to order from gotvape.com not gotvapes.com. They dropped the s from the name to try and capitalize on our popularity."

EVEN THOUGH THE ITEM THEY SENT IS IN A BOX THAT SAYS BUD!!! Even though I told them what I had and Needed Before Ordering!
AND EVEN THOUGH THIS VIDEO >FOR< 'GOTVAPES.COM' (with an 'S') CLEARLY SHOWS THE 'bud' name With the BLUE DIAMOND LOGO:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=IWSyhE6pX-8#t=8s

This is All Absolutely Crazy... How can an industry operate like this? I'm tearing my hair out, this was supposed to Relax Me!
I should just make ADAPTERS I'd make a friggin fortune.

Someone PLEASE explain and offer clarity. I'M $500 INTO A VAPOR NIGHTMARE AND STILL CAN'T FIND ANYTHING THAT WORKS WITH ANYTHING ELSE! HELP!

UPDATE: THIS CRAZY GOTVAPES COMPANY IS LOONY! THIS POST NEXT IN MY 'TROUBLE TICKET' WHERE I REFER BACKK YO THIS SITE WHERE I FOUND THE VERY LINK TO THEIR PRODUCT. THIS IS CRAXY!!!!!

Other people (many people) show the 'BUD' pen and Blue Diamond Logo associated with your site, THEY ARE ALL WRONG?

I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with this. You have discovered (the hard way) that many people in the e-cig world want to have nothing to do with mmj users. My advice to those who shop in the e-cig world is to NEVER EVER mention that you're a mmj user. Same advice holds true if you're participating in an e-cig only forum. Yes it sucks, and there are many here (on the FC forums) that won't buy from a company that doesn't support mmj users. There have also been reports here that in the past GotVapes has claimed to have stuff in stock when they don't, and that they didn't fulfill previous (paid for) orders before filling new orders when the stuff did come in stock. My experience with GotVapes has been just fine though, for all the dozen or so orders I've placed. The packaging that all my Sapphire orders have come in has the generic "Bud" logo, not the special "GotVapes Sapphire" logo seen in the pictures on their web site, but other than that, they have been exactly as represented, including the two little adapters in the box for your e-juice bottle to aid in filling the Sapphire clearo.

That all said, I'm not sure what the problem you're having with the Sapphire clearo's is. I just received an order of a dozen of the Sapphire clearo's from GotVapes a few days ago, and they're all fine, and all fit my 510 thread batteries perfectly. Is your battery not a 510 thread battery? Where did you order your original Bud "pen" stuff from? (Maybe I can look at that site for you and figure out what the problem is). It sounds like your battery may be a different thread from the standard 510 thread, and if that's the case, you can buy an adapter for under $10, or just buy a battery with a 510 thread. The last time I looked at the BuddyTech web site in China, all their stuff was 510 thread based, including their kits that come with batteries and sleeve cones. Maybe I missed something there though.

I also don't follow where you say you have $500 into a vapor nightmare. The Sapphire clearo's are $3 each and the batteries designed for them are in the $10 to $20 range. If you're talking about the oil itself, that can be easily be recovered from the clearo with a syringe. So I guess I'm a little confused, and more info about what "Bud pen" you have might help me figure out what to suggest to help you. As you point out, the whole purpose of this is to relax you, not to aggravate you.

    Thanks Haywood,

(I put the last sentence in my letter first so yuou dion't have tio red any more than you want to...)

I just want to find a place to buy (I assume what is called an 'oil pen' but the names seem to change every day) a oil pen that works well with PureGOld (my night-time solution) and takes cartridges that work with 'Canna Nectar' my daytime solution. A year in (and more like $1000 see below) I have no simple solution.

Well, I bought a G-pen at my dispensary for $150. It stopped doing anything after about a week. No Return policy No Exchange Policy. (PLEASE PEOPLE DON'T TELL ME I GOT RIPPED I KNOW. I ALWAYS KNOW.... I'm JUST TOO BUSY TO HAVE REAL TIME TO DO ANYTHING ELSE, IF I CAN't FIND IT QUICKLY, , I BUY WHAT I CAN FIND AND THAT'S IT. BACK TO WORK. HOLLYWOOD WORKERS IN THIS ECONOMY HAVE NO TIME FOR SLEEP OR FOOD MUCH LESS RESEARCH INTO OIL PENs). Then bought a $99 'OG'-Pen , That lasted about month. Onto my $150 Gold-Pen Lasted awhile but done now./ Now this Bud Pen debacle..
(heck $500 was the lowest estimate I could come up with that looked realistic. It's more like $1000 when you count the $250-$500 Chinese upright 'Vaporizers' that are little more than miniature Blow Dryers that I bought (suprisingly I thought they would do what they Said it would do, Vaporize things,.. NOt so much as heat them up slightly...)

A year in and I still can find no solid info, places that agree with other places, or things that work with other things, it's all crazy, When there is info, it changes overnight or is totally wrong.... I told that jerk at the Gotvapes site he should have simply said 'that is what we have, here is a link to the accompanying battery'. done. no talking abouty 'other sides of roads, or 'cultures' WTF.
My Culture is Working 18-20 hours a day, 7 days a week on projects that BURY my name and pay me Little. Not whatever he was envisioning is his paranoid insane world view. Rarely have I been this pissed.

I informed him I would be writing a letter to the better business bureau, he had no right to assume what I put in any pipe or device. Frankly the truth is my best friend has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer but can't stop smoking, I am certainly in the market for a good nicotine delivery system but the MORON at that site was so paranoid it was HOPELESS,.
I never mentioned 'pot' I said CO2 Extract. I have co2 extracts of Bulgarian Rose, Blue Egyptian Lotus, many many things and I know for a fact if someone wanted to CO2 Extract Tobacco, it would be a perfectly legit practice (NOT THE 'DOW CHEMICAL' 'JUICE' they currently sell) so he had no cause to flip out like that, I wasn't even rude to him at any point. I have rarely been so offended. I sure wasn't surprised to find out they are in TexASS,

    Sorry. Overnight Baggage...

Yeah I'm just going to have to buy yet another battery and then try to find yet another place that carries the 'sapphire cartridges' assuming that is even what I need, I'm sao confused now I want to quit.... This is truly one way to get people to quit. Make the info so dispersed and non-localized a person that doesn't already know all about these things would have to commit WAY more time than any animator or techie in hollywood has these days, (our beloved movie industry is almost dead, taking it's last gasps of breath.. heck the Guys who did the effects for 'Life of Pi' were let go without final pay, and the studio closed and boarded up...),

More baggage. Having a very bad week. I DO APPRECIATE THIS Forum as the Only PLace to get Any info and all that I HAVE learned was from here... I'm not dissing F Combust by any means.. That owner really P'd me off bringing his politics into it and making assumptions that were not his pervue ... Thanks for the support !

Hey dude sorry your having problems but dont give up on the sapphire carts, they do work really well with PG once you have the right battery. I have been using them with a variable voltage Vision spinner E-cig battery(25$) recommended by Haywood with great results. I dont have much experience with cannanector but if its similar in thickness/purity to PG it should work.

This is the battery i got but any E-cig battery with 510 threading should work.

Thanks! Do you know another place to get the sapphire carts? (Maybe they will have them there.). I'd be happy with an adapter for now as my battery seems very long lasting.. (while bigger apparently than the '510' threading for some reason) Any idea what the '510' stands for? I can see mine is about 6-8mm and the carts I got from gotvapes were like 5-7mm (too small), works when I hold it really hard against the battery, I duct taped it on for a while but it was too sad looking... lol
I haven't seen any adapters out there though, maybe it is a young industry or something....

Variable voltage, that sounds good, like you could tune it literally 'to taste',

    Thank You!

(I bet once I really understand it will all seem really simple and obvious to me -like things in my work- it can just seem like a bit of a wall of info at first, especially with mis-starts at the wrong place a couple times (like me getting 'robbed' at the dispensary, and bizarre unnecessary problem with gotvapes)

BAE: I think you'll find that FC is a wonderful source of usually excellent information and advice. If you can give us more info about exactly what battery or batteries you have, we can probably point you to a source for an adapter. Brand names and/or a picture or two may help as well as to what you currently have that attaches to the batteries you have. Failing that, a 510/eGo thread battery is almost universally available, and can be had from every e-cig and mmj dispensary. I recommend the variable voltage versions, as tuning the voltage to your particular atty/carto/clearo and what you're putting in it is very useful. I personally like the Vision Spinner line of variable voltage (VV) batteries, but there are other brands that also work well and are reasonably priced. A 650mAh battery will power your clearo for many days without needing to be recharged. I personally went for the hard to find 450mAh Vision Spinner for its shorter length, and it still lasts days and days. btw, I don't know what "510" stands for, but someone here probably will.

As far as other sources for the Sapphire clearo's, a couple of things. First, the "Sapphire" brand name is specific to GotVapes. The clearo's are made by a company in China called "Buddy Technology" (sometimes also called BuddyTech). Link to their site in english. The clearo's themselves are referred to with the name "Bud". So you need to be looking for Bud clearo's, not Sapphire. Second, and I'm sorry to have to say this, but I've tried the Bud clearo's from two other places, and they were both less than satisfactory. One places had no visible wicks in the little tube at the bottom, and leaked as fast as I could fill them. The other places needed to have the little fill plug removed and reinserted every dozen hits, or they wouldn't allow the PG to flow and you wouldn't get any vapor. The GotVapes Sapphire version seems to have been custom made for GotVapes, with a certain type and length of wick, and maybe something else different inside where the coil lives, that I can't see. GotVapes claims they have worked with BuddyTech to modify their standard Bud clearo to work better with all thicknesses of liquids and to never leak. True or not, I must say that they work better than the other ones I got from other suppliers. Perhaps all current Bud clearo's are now made the same way as the Sapphire versions I get from GotVapes; I got the other ones a long time ago. The new ones should at least come with a blue fill plug rather than a clear plug.

GotVapes Update... (last word on the subject, put here just because it's mentioned above, Closure ;~))

He had been getting abuse, name-calling and such from other customers (specifically because he would not discuss things they did not deal with). I came along and think the camels back broke.. But he apologized and explained gave me a link to what I need..
I've had enough bad days and dealt with enough irate people to understand he was just having one of those nights...

So,.. cool it worked out, I now know about the thread sizes and have better feel for both what I need and what will work for my friend and convince him he will get his nicotine but without the 100+ extra toxins and carbonized cancerous burned plant matter!! (that sentence should convince Anyone to give up cigarettes)..

    They have Chrome batteries!... ;~)

    HEY HAYWOOD, you were right!

Thanks for the help everybody. It was nice to have a place to go to vent and get some camaraderie!..

I'm delighted to hear you're making progress, and understanding what you need, where to get it, and have un-burned the bridge to GotVapes. So let me say again, "welcome to FC".

Only little tricks I have to pass on at this point about the Sapphire clearo is (1) Don't fill it all the way to the very top; leave about 10% or so empty. The Sapphires work on air pressure and vacuum, and filling them to the very top makes for poor wicking and wispy hits. I generally don't fill them past 75% or so. One PG Ampule (0.5g) will fill the Sapphire half way. (2) Barring trick #1, if you find that all of a sudden you're not getting great hits anymore, pop off the mouthpiece, pull out the blue fill plug, and then put it back in (and put the mouthpiece back on). Every now and then I have to do this. The fill plug seal is so good that sometimes a vacuum in the carto prevents the wick from flowing. Doesn't happen often, but if it does, you'll know what to do.

I'm more into black batteries, but I do have a really tiny 400mAh fixed voltage battery in chrome. Enjoy.

Edit: Oh, and if you look carefully when you get your Sapphires, in the bottom of the little cardboard box the two cartos come in, you'll find two tiny, translucent, easy to miss and throw away with the box, little silicon adapter "funnels" that go onto the nipple of e-juice bottles and reduce the size so it fits into the fill hole in the Sapphire. You won't need them for Pure Gold ampules, but they might come in handy for the other concentrate liquids you were talking about earlier, which don't come in ampules, but come in needle-less syringes.

You are very dedicated and knowledgeable I sure appreciate the 'guide' to e-cigs, vaporizers and accessories.. I was coming at a wall of info, I have this page as a bookmark bar bookmark while I shop next few weeks!

Adapterwise- I have a black battery, silver round tab on bottom clear button, in a silver ring. Looks like most that i've seen online, no markings or logo at all on the battery ,,. The thread is about 1 or 2mm bigger than 501,
I'd just buy a handful of approximate sizes if you tell me where to get 'em ;) appreciate it!

wow, tip#2 just came in very handy! thanks!

First pen had a heater issue, caused the cart to leak. Both were replaced promptly. Dealt with two people, a guy and a gal, both were nice, concerned, admitted to some email difficulties on their end. Email contact continues to be difficult.
Regarding using Gold in the pen:
It is an easier, more efficient way to deliver Gold than the original Omicron cart or the Revolution Dart. Two or four seconds on the button is all it takes for a lungful. If you press much longer it gets harsh. It's very easy to use the pen, stealth factor is probably incomparable. I haven't yet, but the carts are refillable and seem a bit easier to load the the Omi cart or the Dart.
But taste is not equal to Gold in a properly working Omicron cart. It's a bit harsher and there's a hint of plastic, but your sensitivity may vary.
Just received a prototype 1701 cart from Delta9Vapes and will compare it to the three I've mentioned and report back.
