Magical Butter

So I remember this thread going up in spring, and I followed it a bit. I remembered tweak being the test dummie (thank you), and a decent review to follow.
Anyway fast forward 10 months, I stumbled in here and saw that they are dope shit for helping out a family in need, and immediately went and bought one for the lady of the house(me too).
She just read the directions, and said "we should have one of these 10 years ago".
Now I hope she has the same enthusiasm after we use it.
I need to read the rest of the thread now to get some tips from the pro's.
My only issue so far is that one of the little black retaining tabs was found at the bottom of the box. Should I be worried about it? Or will it work fine without?

These are great machines, check em out on facebook and you'll see more stories of them helping out those in need.

Great company with a heart, so very rare these days. Sadly.

I own one, and it works great. Trying tinctures next. Butter was awesome.

Do you know what is the smallest amount of alcohol tincture one can make? Thanks!

Hi Snappo, I'm looking into it, was told I should use everclear or 200 proof if I was going to use alcohol. Looking into the glycerine type tinctures too.

There are min/max markings inside the chamber, I just filled to the min line and it's 2-1/2 cups or 600ml.

Researching vaporizing and making purchases has taken most of my MB machine research and recipe searching the last couple weeks. ;)

Thanks for the informative reply! How much herb does 2-1/2 cups translate to? Thanks again!

@Snappo it depends what you are making. A few pages back I wrote up what I used to make butter and I used a full ounce, some kief and one pound of butter plus one stick well half stick as they come now. That was all for the min line.

Right, Dreamerr!!! But I'm really trying to narrow it down to just alcohol tincture...no butters or oils as I don't tolerate edibles very well. I have had great success with Green Dragon tincture but would like to standardize the process in one easy to use device such as the MagicalButter. Also, since I'm very limited to a rather small quantity of herb at a time, I am constrained to small 1-2 ounce batches rather than pint size as the MagicButter seems to require at minimum. That's why I ask about the smallest quantity that can be made in the MagicalButter. It seems that it may be too big for my limited purpose.:)

The tincture will last a year but I would say if you need strong still an ounce. That is what I am going to use when I get around to it. Do you get headaches like I do from edibles. I am trying to narrow it down but it seems like I get behind the eye, one eye, horrible headache to add to my daily normal ones. I am doing tincture next and have the herb just haven't been up to it. You know I am slow. I have the butter but don't use it as it was killing me. When the weather steady's I will try the butter again. It is strong as hell:smug:. Even with sativa it was still sleepy though which it not kewl to me.

I make Dragon like you, Snappo. I don't think it is possible to make a "small" amount of it in the MB. You usually have to hit those Minimum lines in the MB & an ounce or two won't work. I'm a little bummed out about this, but still love the machine for butter/oil.

Besides...I think I'd start to squirm a bit too much having 16 ounces of 190 proof Everclear being heated up in an enclosed machine...I'm so extra careful even with the water bath on the stove that I'm always a little wound up until it finishes. :)

Why don't you think an ounce will work shrike? Two cups of ec and an ounce should be fine.
I am going to more then like run an extension cord and do it outside so if it blows it blows.

An ounce seems a little too small with the amount of herb I use with it. Since I usually run a 2 ounce session...guess I could try a 4 ounce run on the MB.

Might give it a try in the next week or two...I'll report back as long as my lazy ass doesn't change its mind. :)

yeah...I think I would have mine outside, too...EverClear and heat does not make me relaxed.

I am fairly sure that I used an ounce with the butter(I am not looking back to see:D)and it was really strong although I didn't measure when I dosed. As I am trying to figure out the headaches one day I made crescent rolls and put a smidge of butter on three and still got medicated. Did I fly thank goodness no but was medicated. It took two hours to come on and lasted for four hours more with the headache coming on at the four hour mark or two hours after it hits. I think the MB extracts really well hence you might not need the two ounces you think. You can also reduce more if you want it stronger so that will be your best bet I would think.

I don't get headaches, but I have gotten nauseous, and that turned me off to edibles. But, the tinctures that I made, GD and ABV tinc came out very potent! The effect from vaping doesn't last as long as dosing with an eyedropper, but the effect is right away and powerful! I love the fact that I can vape them in pinky-nail sized cotton swabs in my Solo or Lotus and get baked big time! No burned popcorn cellulose taste, just fresh herbalicious goodness! Then, just throw away the dry spent cotton, no fuss no muss! Sometimes I even make a cotton/herb sandwich for a fuller spectrum effect!

Not a fan of heating high proof alcohol either, or any alcohol for that matter. I shall not be using that technique to make tinctures.

I used 3 bricks of Kerrygold and a half ounce on my first go round with butter. I'm a man, I don't need no stinking instructions! LOL, I always pay for that attitude. Found out later I should have used double that amount according to the manual.

Next batch will be with a full zone and 4 bricks of Kerrygold.

If you mean heated in the vaporizer itself, there is no alcohol being heated or vaped at all, as I first saturate the cotton swatches and then completely evaporate them under a fan. I do that twice for good GD/cotton concentration. Only the oil is left after the evap. But yes, I do heat the alcohol/herb mixture to about 160F in a double-boiler style pan. This is below boiling temp for alcohol, and I do it in a very well ventilated room, so no problem at all.

Vaping and the double boiler or mb2. My memory is horrible + quit drinking 5 years ago, staying away from all forms alcohol if at all possible.

Did not mean to offend if I did. My apologies if so.

Not stating others should not do it, for safety reasons and my alcohol issues it's better for me to stay clear of all alcohol.

No problem at all...I should have clarified my statement for better understanding. No, not w/MB2, just a 9 inch pan with 1 inch water to heat jar with alcohol/herb mixture until evaporated to desired concentration. EZ/PZ. You can also achieve basically the same tincture with glycerin, the non-alcohol tincture equivalent. Cheers!

:peace: Cool. Glad I did not offend. Gotta get to know ya all a lot better before I start offending on purpose.

Glycerine is the way for me, I have two tinctures of this type and it gets along well with me.

I so wish they made a European version ..... I'm hopeful that they may do so in the not too distant future. I've considered buying one and a step down - but on their site they recommend a 800W converter, which would probably cost as much or perhaps even more than the butter maker itself - booooooo!

It's such an awesome device - I'm green with envy!! ;)

EDIT: It seems my dreams will come true after all - our lovely @smokie just informed me that a European model will go on sale February 1st - I'm soooooo stoked!!! Whoop - whoop!!!!

Great Scott!
What is currently the cheapest place to get this machine? I need to be able to make tincture. I've made some with no success, and all the tinctures from caregivers here do NOTHING for me.

I don't really care about warranty, I'm just curious how cheap I can pick one up for.
