So I received one of these for review.

It must be an FC thing because the first thing I did was crack it open like the rest of inquisitive mind's.
Seem's to me the air only travels under the load not through.
Like @phattpiggie if u isolate the air path might have a better chance at producing more than wispy vapor then combust.
Let me rephrase I get good flavor wispy vapor while pulsing the button then quckly start to char and combust.
With a little tweaking might be able to be a decent vape just not out of the box.
I also hate the lid weak magnet's lid fell off in a case and my pocket. If the circle part was deeper you would be able to shake load without it getting all over top of white porcelain part.
I like the design simple tech replaceable coil. Beauty of the wood compact pocketable with a better lid.(obviously) some more work needs to be done here.
    Love the spoon. Too

More testing & modifications to come. Also not a fan of the painted on logo maybe something smaller and burned in or engraved I know. Lol
    Edit: sorry for huge pics.

Finally back from vacation and I'm afraid I have to agree with other users. Best thing about it is the scoop.

My lid doesn't fit right like another user posted it came sideways and that's the only way it will fit. Initial impressions were good until I tried to actually use it.

When you first use it the screen will discolor like crazy which I found a little worrisome. After there was no more factory grease being burnt off I put some extremely dry shake in just to give it a shot.

I did get vapor but I feel like I could do just as good with a light bulb and a bic. Hold the button a fraction of a hair too long and your bud is toast.

Its unfortunately basically just a neat looking electric pipe as far as I'm concerned. Might be good for wax if the screen is deemed safe but other than that I'm at a loss.

They contacted me about the Starlight. I was/am a bit ambivalent about it, but I did tell her that I would be happy to see if their products have improved.

I believe she was saying in her e-mail that the highest setting is because it is supposed to be both a dry herb and concentrate device, so my guess is that would be why it exists as a setting...

That being said, the other settings don't seem ideal imo. (Also still rocking their spoon. Haven't found a better tool for collecting up rosin off parchment!)

This, I'm here for spoons. It does look handy.
There seems to be a ton of fake reviews:

There also seem to be some legitimate ones that only mention its merits with concentrates.

They are certainly unique designs, hopefully Atman keeps at it and keeps working with people to improve their products. PRC vapes bring the old saying to mind "a blind hog finds an acorn now and again".

I can't help but think one day they'll bring some acorns to the table.

Received an e-mail about my review unit is already shipped...next week promise to be the China vape week since I will get the Starlight, the Fenix and another one called the Kingston I think...and maybe the Milaana, Guru and the Apollo (but not from China here!).

I hope they improved the t° settings for something more usefull!

First off I must apologize to Atman for being slack.

About 2 months ago I got a tx message from DHL saying I owed them $7 for an item. I wasn't best pleased as all I had coming was a $3 butane torch. I told them to keep it.

Once I got to speak to someone else it turned out it was from Atman. So I paid the money and a new Hatchi arrived the next day. @PPN Atman never emailed me and were apologetic.

All the packaging and contents looked identical to the first.
The new Hatchi I got still didn't have the sealed air path which meant I had to cut the battery cover and seal it down again, like last time. This time it was a bit more difficult and it still doesn't seal as well as the first. The heater has been set to run cooler and I've managed to get a reasonable amount of vapor production but this time the on board electronics are cutting off the power. I can only assume a sensor is getting a signal to switch off and it resets itself once cycled off and on again. This is happening part way thru a bowl so I never actually get to run the Hatchi fully.
The lid fits properly and the body looks nice but it gives off a woody taste when it gets hot. I did suggest some sort of ceramic lining so the heater did not come into contact with the wood.

Whilst the new device I received is an improvement it still needs some work to get it right.

nondarb and all the other 'spoon' fans I found some similar to the Atman one. There are a few variations of them available but as of yet I haven't found the exact same one on it's own. It's similar to the one, RHS, in the first foto but that came with other tools which would be of little use to me.

They are in fact Cuticle pushers and there should be one out there to suit any individual needs.

    My Starlight by Atman review.

Received it yesterday...it's short but I already tested it for some sessions and there is a lot to say...but negatives for the most part, although there is some very interesting positives!

Comes in a box with a brush, the famous Atman scoop and a USB cord. the user guide is well made.

It looks awful with its square plastic mouthpiece but the body is made of metal (not anodized aluminium I think) is heavy (210g) and approximately the Alfa's size but thicker (size is 55x25x130mm). It feels very solid in hand.

    It's a one button activation (5 clics to turn on, 3 clics to set t° and 3s press to start heating) with 4 leds for t° settings/ battery life/charging. temperature settings are 230°F (!!), 320°F(!), 410°Fand 500°F.

Loading chamber is a sort of small Herbalaire crucible without holes in the bottom but on the upper sides, you can place it in the heating chamber and close with a sort of magnetic lid with a built in screen , the ugly plastic mp is magnetic also. The heating chamber is different than everything I ever seen but i wasn't able to take a decent pic in order to show you...
Here a pic of the unit dismantled (from the left to the right there is the unit, the loading chamber, the magnetic lid and the magnetic mp):
    And everything together:

Now the test phase can start, it comes fully charged which is pretty nice and I forgot to mention I can't smell any plastic/factory smell and the same about taste while drawing on a empty unit.

I loaded a 1/2 "crucible" with some Kush and powered on, set the T° at 320, the button light was turning green from red pretty fast (10-12s, I didn't count exactly), it is an indication the load is heated so I take a draw after to wait 10s more for a better heating soak, I tried a full 5mn session (autoshutoff) at this temp and wasn't able to get any visible vapor but taste was rather good. I started another session at 410 with the same load and I get definitly visible vapor but nothing crazy although I noticed the amount of vapor increased along the 5mn session. I still not tried any concentrates in ...that's why I can't comment about the 500°F setting.

Pro: building quality, interesting heating chamber, nice taste, charging time, heating time, battery (18500 3000mah), spoon

cons: loading chamber is not well designed ( maybe add holes on the bottom for better vapor production), mouthpiece is ugly but cool the vapor rather well (I would like to see another one!), t° settings are wrong (maybe 320-365-410 & concentrate setting...?), it's heavy

But I noticed some potential, even maybe some convection in the heating process cause I noticed the more I draw the more vapor I get, it's difficult to clear the chamber of vapor...and I didn't want to suck on this plastic mouthpiece...that's why I tried some mods with some interesting results.
As you can see on the pic here I use a sort of stem from Pipes or a dabstorm glass mp as a stem (with a screen stuck inside), like that I needn't the plastic mp, loading chamber and magnetic lid...but it's a bit woobly and not make a tight seal on the heating chamber although results are impressive at 410°F (but vapor is very hot!):
....I will add the pic later.....

Can't wait to heard what other reviewers are thinking about this one too, but for me I like how Atman is working on very original design!

Ok testing in progress.....and sorry for the back to back post.

    here the promised pic:

And more user feedback, I used it with a flower load in a MiniVap basket (and the ugly mp), it fits very tight, I didn't get vapor on 410 but was able to get some nice and smooth clouds at 500, but the minivap basket is not close enough to the bottom of the heating chamber, it helps for "convection" style hits but you loose some efficiency and the load comes out not totally vaped (after a 5mn session).

I want to add the unit is hot on 410 (but still ca take it without issues), on 500 unit is very hot, you can take it on the bottom but some part are so hot it is difficult to handle.

I'm thinking to dismantle the magnetic lid to try to mod it in a stem and to drill some holes in the loading chamber bottom, if possible it could convert this vape in a portable vape for vape bonging only since the very high usable setting (410).

I hope Atman will work on another version with better heat settings, different mouthpiece and improved loading chamber....wait and see.

More to come and thanks for looking!

Well a little over a mos. ago I got an email from atman asking if I'd be interested in reviewing the Starlight as @PPN has already shown pics of. After communicating back and forth with their customer rep I was sent the starlight. As previously mentioned this little vape came fully charged and ready to put in work. I did 2 burn offs at highest temp and didn't notice any visible off gassing after the very first initial start up(I'm thinking a good ISO wipe to the herb chamber might have cured this) Don't know.

1 thing I want to say from the start is they have been very easy to work with and really seem to be a growing company. Their product line has really grown and they want to put products out that people want. IMO. At least this has my experience through the many emails and such.

Now I can say this vaporizer will do exactly what your wanting it to do. It will vaporize the flower on the 2 highest settings.
I personally like the highest temp because it will produce the most and to be honest it keeps the good flavor of my herb for longer then I was expecting. The session was fast and produced good thick vapor. It did get that scorched flavor closer to the end and I popped the chamber out after about 4 min. or so. It was starting to scorch and if I left it in longer I might of combusted. Not sure. I don't see that as a negative because in my experience you'll need that higher heat for wax.

Another positive is this battery is one long lasting battery. I'm not sure what the actual mileage you can get out of it but I haven't worried about charging it but once and I've ran double digit bowls.
The heat up time is real quick. From cold to full heat is right around 20-25 seconds. And that's on a battery that has multiple sessions.

Now by no means is this a perfect vaporizer. The bottom temps don't have any true purpose. They should give the starting temp around 350 and go up from there. IMO. I'm not sure how spot on the temps are.
The mouthpiece has a plastic flavor at first. I soaked in coconut milk over night and it did help the dissipate flavor.
The heat of the unit does get warm and if you were to go back to back sessions it might get uncomfortable. I haven't had any issues but I usually run single sessions with it.

So all and all I do feel it's a better offering than the last vaporizer that was reviewed on here from Atman and I haven't seen any other vapes just like these. I hope they continue to forge ahead and keep bringing new products to the public.

You dark horse @HD Springer lol.
If the Starlight is looking like it will be fine for herbs then perhaps the Hachi should be used for concentrates I know my first one was good for the reclaim I put thru it. It needed the base sorting to seal the electronics and to create a better draw. No problems with the power, the second one runs colder but has a problem with the electronics and it switches off mid bowl.
Great review HD nice to get your input.

I understand your concern but I tested it with the stem in the pic before and the vapor production was a lot better and the abv less dark...this is my experience!

I tested the 500°F setting with flowers in the provided loading chamber...yes there was more vapor (smoke?) but abv comes out blackened/charred and taste was bad. I bet the T) settings are not accurate cause the thin vapor production at 410 (in comparison with others vapes).

One good point is there was not any plastic/factory taste, with some tweaks I bet this unit could be a very good one!

(You guys really hit all the strong/weak points I found myself seeing, but here is my initial review nonetheless.)

I have been messing with the Starlight for a few days. Mostly just two or three experiments a night. I would estimate 9-10 or so loads for the one full battery charge, which is maybe 40-45 minutes of continuous battery usage. However, when you consider how quickly it heats up, you can take that quite far.

    Pros:
    LONG battery life.
~10 second heat up time to max temp, which is wicked.
Thin enough to be relatively pocket-able, (still a bit too heavy to feel comfortable though.)
Promising crucible design, just needs tweaking as @PPN mentioned.
Vapor path appears isolated this time around, with a little inlet on the side, right beneath the heating chamber.
Interesting mouthpiece idea, cools vapor pretty well. (has major issues though as well.)
Spoon is still cool. Little smaller in this iteration, which is also interesting.

    Cons:
As folks have already been mentioning, the highest flower setting of 410 setting produces almost 0 vapor, making all settings below this even less than useless, and the 500 setting is just a hair below combustion (thankfully it is below) so I am able to use this setting to get an extremely dark abv with average vapor as it heats up, quickly degrading to heavily roasted flavors within the first few pulls. The vapor will keep going, but I can't do the taste after a bit. I tried a little bit of concentrate with ok results at the 500 setting as well, but haven't experimented further in that area yet.

The plastic mouthpiece does not create an air-tight seal, so plasticy tasting air is sucked in through the sides as you inhale. You can hold your hands around the lid to get a better seal/flavor.

Battery, while long lasting, is not removable, so you have to charge before using again.

    Overall:
This honestly is a potentially very good product that is unfortunately not great with its current temperature profiles and loose mouthpiece.

I would recommend tweaking the heater temps, widening the inlet air-hole, creating a mouthpiece that fully seals (hi temp grommet perhaps?) adding holes to the bottom of the crucible as @PPN mentioned and then offer concentrate pads instead of incorporating the current cup design.

It is a device that surprisingly has a lot of potential, and the fixes actually seem fairly implementable. I wish Atman the best in future iterations of the Starlight.

The dabstorm glass mp mod is very nice!

I added some lenght with a piece of tubing to help to cool the vapor, on 410 I get some nice sessions.

    Taste is nice and after a 5mn session the abv is very light in color when using my mod (abv is darker with the provided loading chamber, but with less vapor!) and it stays nice all around the session, I'm convinced there is a good amount of convection here (at least using my mod), more than the Fenix does;

Airflow is totally free and doesn't seems to affect the heater.

In regards to the taste, clouds, efficiency, building quality (except the mp) this vape is better than most in the market, it's a shame there is only 1 setting usefull with flowers and a so bad vaporpath design cause it might be one of the better portable!

I've had the starlight for a couple weeks now. The first one was defective.
I got to work the + wire fell off board.
Rigged in the hole. Tomuch robo smell.
I figured i messed up by opening
Received second unit it works but still robo fart.
Even visable smoke/vapor when unit is on high.
    Burns my nose to smell.

With it off mp leaks alot I say off because i didn't inhale while it was on.
Seems air path is pretty isolated.
With mp off lipping on unit.
Gee that sounds great lipping on unit you can control flow by covering hole on side
    Nice looking vape shitty mp
Ill keep doing burn offs see if it goes away.
    Not looking good though.

    Love the spoon...

Strange, one positive I noticed on mine unit was the pretty nice taste without any plastic or factory smell (although I don't use the provided plastic mp).

Personnaly i'm still amazed by the unit and use it everyday with my mod (Dabstorm glass mp as a bowl with some tubing to cool the vapor), taste is very good and last all around the session, i'm still convinced there is some convection using my mod.
