When will we be seeing the Ascent go on sale do you think? I'd love to replace mine but have not yet been able to. I tried to price match a week or two back as an authorized reseller was having a sale. But I was told by Davinci customer service on live chat that the price match wasn't applicable during sales.
What would the point of a price match be if we can't match sales? Were you sending a link over for an unauthorized reseller? Go ahead and private message me the link to the sale and we will set up a price match for you.

They are not an authorized reseller of ours. We offer a price match on any website that is not a third party retailer such as ebay, amazon, rakuten or craigslist.

Vapornation is an authorized seller, yes?

Just got mine today!!
Is it just my davinci ascent, or does the bottom and top half dont align perfectly?

Define "perfecty". What level of precision are you expecting? Alignment seems OK on mine by casual visual observation, but perhaps if I were more critical, it might not be perfect. In any case, i have no performance issues with mine, and I'm quite satisfied with the cosmetic "fit and finish" of my Ascent.

Maybe if you could explain the problem you are having, or, if it is purely cosmetic (or even concerned that it might impact performance) you could post a photo or three showing us what you find to be misaligned.

It doesnt look like it will hinder the performance. I will report if i think it does. The imperfection seems very negligible. Also did you guys also charge it for 10 hours like in the instructions?

"For optimal usage, please allow the Ascent Vaporizer to have an initial 10 hour charge and subsequently a 5 hour charge. To charge, plug the wall charger into the port on the lower half of the unit."

Not sure if you can see but the bottom protrudes a little and when i turn it around u can see that it goes inwards a little.

I've had mine for a while now. I vaguely remember that it indicated a full charge rather quickly the first time I plugged it in, but I charged it overnight. Not only because the instructions said to, but because it is "best practices" for first-time use of lithium-based rechargeable batteries. After that, I've recharged as needed - usually waiting until at least half-way discharged (based on the display) to connect it, and then disconnecting after it indicates "full" (battery icon stopped moving and fully lit).

Occasionally (maybe once every few months) I'll let it run down until it shuts off, and then give it a thorough charge (leaving it connected for at least an hour after "full" indication) as this helps keep the battery metering circuit calibrated.

This procedure is not specific to the Ascent - I do the same with laptops, phones, and anything else with lithium-ion/lithium-poly batteries.

Go back a few pages in this thread and someone linked to a "battery university" article on Li battery use and care. Oh, wait... here it is: BU-808: How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries

Mine looks the same. Didn't notice and have had it since March. No problems due to it, AFAIK.

(didn't notice your photo when I replied about battery charging, @slayerx390 - sorry)

Mine is like that too. It's very slight, and I wouldn't be concerned. I never noticed until you mentioned it, so I looked at mine. I've had mine since January and not had a problem with it. Interesting that it is consistent among multiple units. Also, FWIW, I can imagine that as the "stopper" (interlockingt protrusions on side opposite hinge) wears with age, that tiny misalignment may eventually disappear. Perhaps it is even intentional, to allow for wearing/settling in over time?

MrNaturalAZ,
Yeah, I assumed it was negligible.
you said you charged it over night before your initial use?how long do you recommend me charge mine? It's been plugged on for two hours now

What would be the ideal interVal? 10 hours then 5? How long should I wait between the interval?

I'd say give it the full ten hours the manufacturer recommends. It may or may not really need that long, but better safe than sorry. It won't harm it, anyway (while routine overcharging is not recommended, rare and occasional overcharging is unlikely to have a significant impact on overall battery life).

I think MN has it nailed. The 'over charge' on the first charge only is an attempt to match the two cells in the battery a well as possible. After that the stronger one will force the weaker to work a little harder (where have we seen that before?).

I have just purchased a Da Vinci Ascent after using the Arizer Solo for 2 years... it was the best unit for hash/concentrates... Anyone had experience with these? I wanted the Da Vinci as was told it could now handle concentrates plus its far more stealth and portable that an Arizer plus all glass channel...

With Arizer Solo I was guaranteed plooms of vapour and long lasting bowls. I used a volcano wire pad cut down to hold the hash in place inside the stem, this worked very well and kept the bowl clear of hash gunk. But with the Ascent I only see vapour if I breath it into cold air or across a beam of light, don't get me wrong I get sweet hits, even more so with the water tool, its just my brain needs to see vapour and there is little to be seen without the two methods above. I use the glass jar to pack it into, well crumbled, its very sticky pollen, dont use their silcon lid but just fold a gauze into top of jar to act as a lid and to create better air flow.

as I'm using sticky hash pollen so i'm running from 207c and working up to 218c, I find 220 causes it to blacken which meands its too hot. Only had it 48 hours so still sussing it out but its a cool looking efficiewnt bit of kit if it can continue to handle concentrates. The jar means no mess in ceramic bowl but does mean regular cleaning. I rarely cleaned my Arizer, stem one every couple of months, thje Ascent I feel will be weekly...

Okay so I gave this ascent its 10 hour charge before use, battery life definitely seems stronger than my last one which I used straight out the box so happy with that :).

Also used the water tool namaste vapes sent out for free wity my replacement ascent (amazing service) anyway I love it! You can wack it straight up to a high temp and get some massive hits without coughing. Will use that quite often I imagine, very happy with my replacement and water tool :).

Hey all, first time, long time as they say on call radio. I've had the DaVinci Ascent now for 3 weeks. I'm very pleased with it- vaporizes very thoroughly and the ABV is more uniformly brown than when using my Extreme Q. I agree with others who say vapor clouds aren't as impressive as, say, the Pax or a home setup like Extreme Q. But what comes out of the oven sure looks fully spent, so I'm ok with it. I actually find myself reaching for the Ascent often bc it less of a hassle than dealing with loading up vape bags.

I really like the 3 stage heating. I timed a session beforehand and set up the temp timers to correspond with when I would normally bump up the temp. When I first got the Ascent, I said bah I just want to set it to 410 and go at it, but I found starting at a lower temp really does taste interesting. My preference is 385, 399, then 410.

I'm a little surprised that with all the talk about using flowers, glass screens etc that no one has mentioned what the ideal sizes would be. At least some comments about with mm size worked best or something. Anyway, I ordered some 5x6mm ones and I throw 3 in the oven with room to spare.

All of this talk on this forum about quality control issues must have jinxed me, my Ascent won't heat up today and displays "000" despite every attempt to get it going, making sure I had the oven on, etc. DaVinci's response was to drain the unit fully and fully charge then try again. No luck. Luckily the place of purchase is doing a return exchange.

Hey fellas,

I'm on a vaporizer spree this winter and want to try out a lot of devices and do a big comprehensive comparison. Can anyone comment on how the Davinci Ascent compares to the FlowerMate V5.0s? The price tag is huge in comparison but is the Ascent's design features worth the price? Thanks!

With the Ascent you can dial in your precise temp for the herb that you are using. I have several portables, the Ascent adds a very good flavor to your vapor. Have fun and enjoy this vape. The battery seems to be holding up well. My Ascent is a year old and my battery is just under an hour between charges. I use my unit about 4 times a week. It's not my daily driver. You cannot compare a portable unit with a desktop, unless you are talking about the Solo and depending on what you are comparing it to.

Its worth your while to get the pipe stem flowers from Amazon online. Several of us use them as a spacer and to help with the heat distribution. They are reasonably priced and will add to the enjoyment of your vaporizer.

There is a bit of a learning curve, but some homework you will get there. Takes some time to get to know this vaporizer. I think you will enjoy this unit. Slow and steady draws will get you where you need to be.

Whether you vape for medical or recreational the Ascent is one of the top portable vaporizers IMO.

Interesting post Carol... I had the Arizer which I used daily and gave up my Da Buddha for it as was so good. But it lacked portability and stealth one requires when on the move.

After some research and after speaking to Namaste vapes when considering this or a pinnacle pro I was advised that the Da Vinci had surpased both the pinnacle and the solo. Pinnacle runs too hot with what I vape. They were aware I exclusively use sticky solid fresh concentrates and said this unit would deal with it.

I have had it 3 days and it has been a learning curve. I'm using the glass jars with the concentrate finely crumbled and a shaped piece of gauze I fashioned as a lid instead of the silicon one as it allows better air flow. It has the desired effect BUT my Solo gave slightly longer sessions on a similar dose AND the main thing my brain needs, visual recognition - with the solo very visible vapour, with the Ascent no visible vapour unless I blow out through my iPhone torch or in cold air ;0)

I'm about to sell my Solo to get back some of the cost of the Ascent back but see you don't see it as a daily driver like the solo. I probably medicate between 2 - 6 times/sessions a day.

I never use herbs only the finest medical pollen. I started off many years ago with the iOlite which like the Ascent rarely gave visible vapour but it melted the fins because of elongated sessions and heat because the pollen takes so long to vape (plus was not very robust and did not handle Knicks and bumps when on the move) - this does not happen with the Ascent, I would say it's more efficient but holds less product because I'm using the jar. I then moved to the Thermovape which was terrible with concentrates plus I felt a bit conned as after dealing directly with the company they sold me an 'old' unit and a week later they brought out their new range, rude! I sold it and got the Solo which was by far the best I had up until then and was reason I got rid of my Da Buddha as it went unused. But I'm in the move a lot, I had to carry separate storage tube for the glass stem plus stash the bulky unit... The Ascent was I felt, as did Namaste the perfect replacement... as said hits are subtle, very flavoured just no visible vapour and use of glass jar means less bowl space for concentrate and shorter sessions plus my brain is adjusting to no visible vapour and the visual recognition units like the solo very clearly give you...oh can see it needs cleaning every few days, I never had to clean the solo unit just the glass stem every month or so....

you sound like you work in the vaporiser industry Carol ;0) any input?

Regards

P.s couple of interesting things waiting on Namaste to get back on, a few times the unit had started counting backwards and cool down, it responded to no buttons being pushed or temp being reset just kept going backwards until I switched off and restarted (it goes down to 67c and stops). The other thing is it won't hear to 205c when set, it stays at 204, seems to be a dead spot for this temp.

Glenda, if concentrates are your thing you may want to consider looking at a vape with a better performance record than the Ascent, as the Ascent is not really considered to be all that great with oils or concentrates, and most owners tend to just stick with flower.

Have you looked into the Haze vaporizer at all? It is a nifty little portable that is getting pretty rave reviews, and alot of people are really digging its ability to handle waxes and concentrates.

Whether you vape for medical or recreational the Ascent is one of the top portable vaporizers IMO.

In my case, the Ascent is my daily driver. Well, split between the Ascent and a cheap MFLB knock-off (soon to be genuine MFLB; awaiting USPS delivery on that piece :p). I like that it holds enough that I can fill it up once and get several sessions out of it. It does take some mental adjustment, compared with smoking or even a desktop vape, to the milder taste and thinner vapor, but once you realize that you still get the desired effect it's pretty cool. Many people, including myself, subscribe to the theory that if you are exhaling much visible vapor, it is either wasted medicine (being exhaled instead of having been absorbed) or else, especially if you're flirting with high temps on a vape with less precise temperature control, some of that "vapor" might actually be smoke if you've managed to get the load up to threshold-of-combustion temps.

I've tried (whip-style) desktop vapes but have found I prefer the convenience of compact portables. Beyond the obvious advantage of portability, there's the convenience of, once loaded, of being able to whip it out and medicate as needed, and just as quickly put it away. And a single filling, if just me, can last several sessions. I can load up the ascent and it'll last me all day.

The heat-up time is fairly quick with the Ascent - under two minutes from turn-on to first hit. When done, it can immediately be pocketed or stashed - no waiting for cool-down. MFLB is even more convenient in that regard, tho - if it is loaded and ready, I can literally pick it up, hit it, and put it back down (or pocket or hide as appropriate) all in under 30 seconds.

So for me the convenience of the portables is where it's at. I've got a couple of desktops that I literally have not used in over a year.

I love my Ascent even more now

Nice looking rig there!

I don't work in the vaporizer industry I assure you. I'm just an enthusiastic vaporizer owner. I have several portables.

I enjoy using the Ascent because of the portability factor. It's small and easy to put in a pocket or purse. The taste and the choosing of the exact temperature you wish to vape at are a very good feature. It's alway a plus to be able to charge and use at the same time. I don't use that very often. I would assume that would be hard on the battery over time. I bought my Ascent over a year ago. I haven't had any issues with this unit.

I did get one of the early Ascents a year ago Sept and had to send that one back due to a cracked bowl and air leaks within the unit. I have been very happy with this vaporizer and enjoy using it.

I ended up buying 3 Pinnacle Pros (long story) The Pro does get extremely hot. I don't use mine any longer. Heat level one was the only temp I could use unless I used a Water Tool. I ended up making my own mouthpiece that had an extended air path. I had problems with brittle plastic and 2 of the units cracked. The company said they would not cover the cracking plastic. I moved on. I just don't recommend that particular vape to my friends. There is talk a new one will be coming out in the spring using different materials. This is my experience. There are many happy Pinnacle Pro owners that love their vaporizers.

What one person likes and what someone else likes could be two different stories. We all have different needs and tolerances. You will have to make your own decision, sometimes it's really tuff to decide. You don't know that you will like it until you try it?

At this point I just have portables. I like something small and powerful and the Ascent is that. This January will be 2 years since I've been combustion free. I'm spreading the good word one friend at a time.

Thanks for that Virtual Purple, I have just looked at the Haze and looks very interesting and in a way I wish heard of it before but I have purchased the Ascent and there is no going back. Namaste are actually replacing it this week due to electronic temp problem.

I actually had a thought regarding concentrates and this after using my Arizer again because of the air that directly passes through the concentrate, when in the Ascent glass jar this did not happen - so i thought of drilling a couple of small hole in the bottom of the jar, something Da Vinici should do. Funny thing was 5 minutes later when cleaning the jar a put my cleaning tool through bottom corner of it and into my thumb! so I filed sharp bits off, cleaned and loaded... and I got visible vapour and a great more tangible hot... So I feel this may give me what I desire...

Although would be interesting to try the Haze with my concentrates

Many Thanks

Thanks for that Carol...

VirtualPurple suggested the Haze for concentrates but as I said to them I have the Ascent now so no going back but...its actually being replaced this week as problem with the temperature counter electronics, Namaste have been great on the customer service front, its there go to portable vaporiser...

I actually had a thought regarding concentrates and this after using my Arizer again because of the air that directly passes through the concentrate, when in the Ascent glass jar this did not happen - so i thought of drilling a couple of small hole in the bottom of the jar, something Da Vinici should do. I have heard about the Pinnacle and the hot temperatures and was put off as felt and was told it would not handle concentrate...

I think if DaVinci offer another glass jar with small holes it would be the best portable Vaporiser for all substances...So I am sticking with it... I dont need massive clouds of vape as think that sometimes too much and getting very close to combustion, so happy with the wispy vapour I now have with the modification

While we are talking about concentrates now i have a question. i've seen a few different methods discussed (just putting it in the glass jar, surrounding it with flowers, etc). Is there an established "better" or at least most popular way of using concentrates with the Ascent or is it really just trial and error to see what works. My connect for wax is a bit pricy, so I would rather not have to waste much on trial and error. Also, how much concentrate is needed for big results i think i had seen .05g somewhere but that sounds unrealistically small.
