Arizer Solo

Sounds like my Da Buddha probably just a sign that you vape alot and have good herbs lol.

WOW!!!! Is all I can say. I just got it in the mail and holy shit Randy at Puffitup hooked it up! Not only did I get what I ordered but I got much more! I got my solo which doesn't smell at all(I mean you shove your nose in the heater area what do you expect), just ran it thru one cycle at 7 and its charging at the moment. But let me tell you about the package. So I got my solo which is extremely smaller than everyone was making it out to be. I mean this thing is tiny from what I thought it was going to be. Alright got the solo but Randy also through in two different grinders. One was a grinder/storage container(like the middle sized one in the Dragon whatever 3 pack he has on the site) and a 4 piece aluminum puff it up grinder. My grinder screen just kinda ripped a little so I needed a new one lol. All I have to say is just like I was saying before that Its well worth it to buy from a reputable place like puffitup even if it is $30 I mean I just got $30 in extras lol. I'll let you guys and gals know once I hit it for the first time.

I hope vapeNStone is not doing anything unnatural with the solo. He was pretty excited. I am starting to worry.:brow::o:

lol everyone. Its still charging. I am waiting till it has a complete full charge before I fire it up. I think I'm going to start at 4 and go from there. I already cut some screen really small so they fit in the bowl piece but don't really take up much space. Because I grind my herbs really fine when I vape so I know it would be going thru those holes. I kinda got the screen to dome a little to so it doesn't restrict air flow.

VapeNStone,
Alright guys and gals the time as come! I tried it just now for the first time and let me tell ya! This thing hits like a champ! And it tastes amazing just like my da buddha. Pretty much hits like it too. I have noticed that the suction sucks and the first few seconds are what really count. But overall it seems to really rip. I think I'm going to crank the hell out of it to see what it can do but I think from playing with it that 4 seems to be my setting. Obviously I'll tweek as I go but that seems like it for now.

I finally bought the Solo. It's perfect. It produces the best tasting, medical grade vapor- 12 minutes at a time. I like it so much, I'm buying it furniture- she needs a stand. The problem is I now need two. My girlfriend and I are fighting over it!

Anyone thinking of purchasing the Solo, do yourself a favor- BUY IT. It's one of the best investments, you could make for yourself. I feel so much better, I breathe easier and it's efficient. I'm using half the meds. Thank you Arizer.

Just a quick heads up on the accessories. Had a look in a local electronics store for car adapters & the unit that allows you to plug the solo in & use it off mains power.

Well a car adapter was $9, I was concerned something so cheap could hurt my solo, so I asked about an inverter. The answer was if I was concerned about the unit getting fried in the car, then I should buy an inverter with a pure sine wave. Starting at $200. no thanks

Regarding the ac mains power unit, I took some of the specs from a pic on one of the sites that sells them.
The store took one look & went nup cant help you. It requires a 8.5v power source (obscure voltage) which they say is most probably semi-unique to the product, forcing you to buy their accessories from them & not go into a electronics store like I did to find a generic one cheaper.

So, based on that, I will be buying my accessories from an authorized dealer. Will just have to take the int shipping charges on the chin.

If i ever need to charge mine on the go I have a AC/DC converter. Used to run the Da Buddha off of it on camping trips.

VapeNStone,
wow this 4 piece he through in as amazing! the holes that let the weed drop and so small so it doesn't allow it to go through until it completely grinded. I still flip it and grind it a second time though lol.

I am really interested in the Solo. My concern is the bowl size? It looks too large for my use. I use an eterra which has a bowl size of around (0.25 in)^3. I usually get 2 or 3 large puffs from each bowl, which is all I typically need. What is the smallest amount of herb you can use in the Solo and still get satisfactory vapor?

bruno13,
Using a screen, that small amount should give you roughly the same return. The Solo is very, very good at stretching out a small amount, and seems able to provide reasonable "clouds" with even a dusting of high quality meds. :2c:

Save your money until the stainless steel bowl is out.

This worked very well for me, as well. We car camped for over a week recently and w/o the ac-dc converter the Solo would have been unusable very soon. I am glad I thought of it, because the Solo definitely made the trip a lot more fun!

Hi Bruno, I use a Woodeez, which is, I guess, some sort of an iteration of the Eterra so I know what you mean regarding bowl size.

My impression is that the Solo is very efficient, more so than a log vape (though, I still love my log vape! log-vapes are like joints, you gotta love 'em) But, yes, one does (or I do, anyway) tend to load more than necessary, simply because the bowl size allows it. Which is fun, but wasteful. I battle with this issue everyday! (trick is to pinch off a few small bits of nug -- perhaps 3-4 -- with a tweezer and just drop those into the bowl and no pack -- works very well, no worse than ground with screens ime but much more convenient!)

However, if you are careful, you can definitely use the Solo w/ as little herb as your Eterra (assuming the bowl size is similar to the modern log-vape). In fact, if you use your Eterra/log-vape stem to load the Solo bowl (by filling your Eterra bowl as normal and then blowing that much herb from there to the Solo bowl) that would ensure you don't at least begin to use any more herb than you already do.

bruno13,
Hey everyone for my first post here I would like to say how happy I am with the Solo. I purchased it from KJ Rockwise and was extremely happy with their customer service. They were very quick to answer my emails and answer any questions I had about The Solo. He also threw in the travel bag for free. The travel bag is very nicely padded on the inside and has two nice pockets for the stems.

I was very nervous at first about getting the solo after hearing about the smell problem and the ceramic chipping. I haven't noticed any smell in my unit just a little bit coming from the heater but nothing electrical which is good. And now onto how the Solo performs. I have found that the heat setting 4 is the best for me. The hits from this thing are very tasty. I had it on level 7 for a bit and was getting some pretty big clouds but the vapor was a bit too hot for me. I really like how there really isn't much of a learning curve. The overall construction is amazing and it looks like it can take a beating.

The only other vape that I have is the MFLB. I always found it hard too switch my friends over to vaporizing because of the learning curve on the MFLB. Hopefully with the solo I will be able to change their minds. I find it much easier to get nice clouds with the solo over the MFLB. But when I am on the go I still tend to take the MFLB just because its so stealthy and I love hitting it native. I also purchased the power adapter so if anyone has any questions about that or the solo ill try and answer them as soon as I can.

Just received another Solo from PuffItUp and this one is perfect. Most importantly, the smell myself and others have experienced is not present in this unit. PuffItUp also included some nice extras that complimented my purchase well.

Seems both GreatVape and PuffItUp sell Solo's that don't have the smell issue. Those of you who already ordered from PuffItUp are in for a treat.

Thanks for the info on the chargers dorkus, I've actually ordered 2 of those eBay power adapters I mentioned.
I got a 9v and a 12v 1000mA.
Under $5 each with free shipping, I'm willing to waste that on an experiment.
I guess the 9v isn't going to work, but if the 8.5v is 5000mA, then it wasn't going to work anyway.
that doesn't really bother me though, as I have no real need to use the solo while it's being powered directly.
I just mainly want a charger cord that doesn't require an adapter...

I have also tried walking the solo up from 2 to 4 as I vape, instead of starting at 4.
It was a lot nicer on my throat, and I didn't really notice any major difference in vapor density.

Anyone who is comfortable doing their own soldering should be able to use the PS2 Slim power supply with the appropriate plug to fit the Solo spliced or soldered on. This is what I am intending to try as it's not difficult. I'll report back.

Hi all

After all the great advice, I managed to talk my wife into letting me burn the solo in before my birthday so i charged it and ran it on 4 x 12 mins cyles on heat 7. No real smell just the ceramic but thats nothing so im feeling very positive, its all charged up and ready to go now so can wait for saturday morning . So just to check with you guys on the correct way to vape - once i have preheated this thing tomorrow on i think around heat setting 4, i put the bud in the stem and connect the stem to the solo, how long should i wait before i pull and will the bud burn if i dont remove it straight away. Apologies for the dumb questions , as i have said before , never vaped right in the past and wanna get it right this time.

Thanks.

It a convection vape, it makes vapor only when you inhale. You have to wait only for heat up of the unit itself. You don't have to remove it after pulling, also solo should be incapable of burning.

IDK how slow draw Solo requires, but (almost) all vapes work well with a good grid and slow draw.

Not at all true, respectfully and only in my experience. Put your finger in the chamber while it's only at setting 2 - it's F'ing hot. Really hot. The Solo is a partial-conduction, primarly convection vaporizer, very much like the Herbalaire in my opinion. It might be 60-80% convection, but not entirely.

I'm still waiting for a good, hard hitting, battery-powered 100% convection portable. The Solo is an almost-ran, a serious step in the right direction but not quite the vape-revolution I'd hoped for, completely irrelavant of its battery life or "organic ceramic" flaking issues.

Don't believe me? Pack your stem, put it in, put your Solo on it's normal operating setting and walk away. Let the 12 minute cycle end, and then pull your stem and inspect it. Does that look or taste anywhere near as well as it would have originally? No. The Solo should have its bowls "powered through" for maximum efficiency, as its design is inherently wasteful when left idling at a operating temperature. This is all my opinion, but if you examine how the unit really works I think you'll agree. Also, a high-tolerance user would sooner notice these differences than a low-tolerance one.

I don't have a Solo, but have read on vaporpedia it's convection. But Solo owners must know better.
Anyway if it really gets hot when not pulling, it will still be better to not pull it out in a session after each hit. The glass will remain hot for few secs until next inhlae and some vapor could leak more easily imho.

Seek,
It should list it as a partial conduction, primarily convection. Even Rockwise at the beginning of this thread, in reply to my question about this very topic, said this:

Rockwise said:
Heat rises so if you're not vaping you will loose a small amount of vapor out the top of the bat. Save your herbs and your battery life - only turn it on if you want to vape.
