I ordered a black one a week ago. Wish I would have the Northern lights. Didn’t think I would like this vape as much as I do. Helps me with my Mighty withdrawals to a degree. Best 100 dollars spent on a vape.

Hey guys, about ready to buy a solo after i sold my solo 2, is there a big difference between these 2 vapes?
I know it takes longer to heat up and its a bit more draw restrictive? Will i still be able to get the same clouds/high with the original solo ?

I tested a Solo 2 for a week when trying to decide if I'd buy another Solo or the Solo 2....I preferred the Solo over the Solo 2 based on vapor production. There were others who felt the same.

Actually neither of those is true IMO. They heat in the same time really (since they use the same basic power to heat the same stem/load) and the current production Solo Is have the same ports therefore the same basic draw resistance as Solo II (unlike the first Solo Is).

If you liked Solo I before you'll like it again, only for less money this time. Solo II has a fancier display and longer battery life (between recharges) and is a bit more compact.......not much to justify the big price jump IMO.

    Enjoy your new Solo I.

I only have a Solo1. I heard about them updating the newer Solo1 draw restriction to match, but the Solo2 is marketed as like 15-45 second heat up time, in which case if that's true it is definitely much faster to heat up than my Solo1. Though if you wait until it reaches operating temp to stick the stem in, I would suspect it's an identical time to get the same amounts of vapor.

What's the consensus on the PVHES? Does it seem to overload the heater? Does it up the % of vapor that is convection? For 30$ and to get it from Canada seems like a hassle if its not.

Yes, and if you did a 'cold start' with Solo I in one hand and Solo II in the other I think you'd find the same thing it true....... While not exactly "an identical time to get the same amounts of vapor" it's sure 'close enough for jazz'. That's what I found anyway. High numbers on the display don't mean those temperatures are really happening in the load.

There is no magic, the same basic power is used to heat the exact same stem and load using basically the same oven in both cases. To be four times as fast Solo II would have to use four times the power or heat one forth the total 'heat load' (oven, stem and load). That's just not happening.

Believe what you want, but I've reported finding this on the Solo II thread and didn't get any 'kickback'. Lots of vapes advertise very fast heat up times based on the display (and who can blame them, they want your money, right?), but IMO what really counts is how long to solid vapor.

    Your call.

"It depends", doesn't it always? New ones aren't much more than that these days if you 'shop around'. For sure it should be 'as new' and with all the bits and pieces with it.

A new one would come with a full warranty in your name as well of course. Arizer tends to be pretty good in this area, but as a second hand purchase they have no obligation to you for service. It's a very reliable product, of course, but perhaps another thing to consider?

Good luck with it, whether you go with this one or a new one you're sure to like it?

Oh I see, so the solo2 device itself benefits from a minute or so heat soak before using it? Hadnt considered that. So really it is a very similar amount of time to reach similar vapor.

    Thanks for the explanation

I'd personally choose the warranty and pay 33$ more for a brand new device.

I have ordered 3. One was returned. The other two are still in use. I kept one Solo. That one has a similar run time to my Solo II now.

I have a solo 2 and agree the OG is very similar although I do like precise temperature control.
Arizer is awesome in ther response to warranty issues and super prompt at resolving the issue.

Does anyone know why the Arizer Solo is so harsh on the throat? It's weird.
I've got 14 different vapes and the Solo is by far the harshest. I wonder why that is.

Is it harsh for you from the start of a new bowl or later when the bowl is caching out?

I typically start a bowl at level 4 and the Solo doesn't get harsh for me till I get past level 5 in the temp stepping. Eliminating the possibility that it's your herb I would say the harshness is related to using the upper temps and how much harder you have to pull to get past the increasing draw resistance.

I keep the area of the bowl where the stem holes are very clean and pack it very lightly with a mid level grind. I don't have to do more than a very easy air intake for the first 4 or so draws on a new bowl. As the number of draws on that bowl rise the contents of the bowl starts to darken, shrink and condense around the holes to the point where the holes are more restricted and I have to draw way more intensely. At the same time the herb itself degrades to something musky and harsher.

Inhaling harder with those higher temps and herb that is no longer fresh could be the culprit.

We are all different. I don’t get any harshness with the Solo or the Solo 2 unless the heat is too high. Also at the end of a load, when the ABV gets darker, I will get some harshness. I look for strains that have good vapor flavor. If your weed is really dry it will taste harsh.

My brother likes a skunky weed and still prefers his little pipe he makes. I’ve been trying to get him to stop the combustion.

I've used many vapes and don't find the Solo range any more harsh than the others. I vape on high temps and can run through a stem at the highest temp until it's dark and don't find it harsh.

But then a friend tried to tell me the J he was sucking on was smoother than my Solo. What ever mate if you like licking an ash tray you go right ahead

I find my Solo II has way less draw resistance than my Solo I but I can pull bigger clouds with the Solo I.

Lots of us wrap the wax or oil in a bit of cotton and load it into the regular stem when the urge strikes. Works great. Some use only organically grown Japanese cotton (considered the most pure), some are less demanding. I use the cotton batting in vitamin and pill bottles (hey, it's 'medical grade', right?). @Vitolo, who first proposed it rips the heads off handy q-tips......

Cotton is not effected by normal vaping temperatures.
