Anyone else still combust?

Figured I'd post another thread with hopes there will be solid answers without a battle as to whether or not "vaping" oils qualifies as combustion. Please try to avoid hijacking this thread for such semantic back and forth discussions, and start a new one if that's what you'd like to carp on about. I'll hold my comments about that for such a thread and hope all can do the same. Thanks!

In the interest of keeping the thread friendly and on point, how about we just add another category?

Me?
I love to vape!
Still combust regularly.
Also enjoy concentrates on a glass nail whenever I have some and my lungs can take it!

Vaping is awesome, and I think most agree somewhat of a different buzz - varying with different strains & vape temps. I do still like to fire things up depending on what is on the agenda and how good my material is. Better meds usually get vaped more, lesser meds more often smoked.

Think I am also one of the few on here that like to do both at the same time on occasion. Not within moments, but within hours. Like, if I'm out fishing in the kayak I'll have a few MFLB trenches. Then maybe a few more. As that buzz wears down, I often kick in with a few smoked bowls. Or, I may start out with a few smoked hits - then pull out the MFLB a while later.

Vaping pretty much keeps me "up" and more cerebral, while combusting the same gives me more of the heavier cannabinoids. With a little practice and knowledge of your stash, you can fine tune your buzz pretty well by going whichever direction you feel like. Just remember to give either a 10 - 15 minute chance to settle in and let you see the effects.

Please don't knock it till you try it!

So... how about you? Only vaping? Still combust? Still doing concentrates?

95% of the time I vape now because I prefer everything about it. The only times that I combust is when I'm with friends who still do.
Vaporizing is much easier than smoking imo and I don't nave the feeling of wanting to smoke a good old fashioned j because I never got a habit of it.
When vaporizing my high lasts longer, the taste is better, SUPER efficient, less of a come-down and not really left feeling burnt out. It's a much more controllable and enjoyable high.

I actually combusted last night and although I do not regret it, I did not particularly enjoy it.
It left me with a phlegmy throat and clouded mind. I only took smaller hits as I did not want to be coughing like crazy. The high didn't last as long and my lungs and throat were irritated. Today I still have an urge to cough because of combusting. I have a little tickling in my throat.

Wow, so I vaped today and I am actually glad I combusted last night as it let me rediscover how awesome the taste of vapes are! Woohoo! So yeah I must have been used to the taste of the particular strain that I have been vaping for a while but combusting made me realize how good the taste actually is when you vape! :)

Personally, if it were me, I would vape 100% of the time also including edibles, but there's just those people that like the ritual of combusting. I could care less for it.

All in all its all personal preference! To each their own. :peace:

I am one of those that like the ritual (through several different means), but I also sometimes like the heavy hitting buzz that only smoking seems to bring on. The irritation of smoking doesn't bother me too much usually, but don't think I've cut out smoke for long enough of a period to notice much different.

I definitely agree that combusting (even regularly), makes the vapor seem that much sweeter. Both in taste and effect!

i will combust with friends on weekends so as not to be an anti-social vaporist, but i hardly ever choose combustion for myself personally. there will be the occasional time where i really fancy rolling a nice joint up, but after that joint is over, it reminds me of why i choose to start vaping in the first place. also an oil head over here, but technically its vaporizing as well.

I tried to go back to combusting. Turns out it is a helluva lot more harsh than I remember, and the taste is terrible. Of course, I used to think that a glass bowl really brought out the flavor of the herb.

Now I do when it's a bong, but other than that I can't get into it unless with friends. And they like spliffs, so I might end up just bringing my mflb and using that instead. I don't get how they can enjoy unfiltered tobacco that often. I used to think that combusting was the only way I could reach a dumbed down, stereotypical stoned feeling, but since I found that DBV can get me there, I don't think I'll ever want to go back to combusting when I finally get a heavy hitter of my own.

I have a true passion for vaporizing, but still enjoy going back to my roots and rocking some combustion on occasion. I do feel that I get much more lifted off of a vape, but there are times when I just want some thick smoke in my lungs. I really like the flavor of vaporized herb and at times my water pipe just feels like a dirtier approach to medicating, but then I see it there on the shelf and it calls to me.

i just got into vaping, and i really dont smoke or vape very often anyways (about once or twice durring the weekends), but when im not vaping i use my friends bong which is fun. i gennerally like the taste of bong hits but what i cant stand is the way my lungs feel for the next couple hours. I'm slowly moving to vaping all the time because i just feel better when im doing it.

When I first started vaporizing, i had no intentions of switching to vaporizing and giving up smoking completely. In the end though that is what I did, after much back and forth smoking and vaporizing.

a couple times a year is the most i would smoke.

Hell I still combust daily, its a habit, I burn more than I vape, just seems to be easier at times when I am on the go, on the move in the shop, or sitting still in my tree stand. I have my dugout in the truck ready to go, have my CRZ in the shop warmed up at a moments notice, when I am on the back forty its just easier to yank out my box and get choked from a quick hit. I dig the feeling I get from vaping, it is different and the high is enjoyable, but hey getting high anyhow is enjoyable! I have an LB but seems to take more work and preperation just to catch a buzz, feel like there is a time and a place for everything, and my dugout seems to come in handy more so than any other device I have.

Did go by a long time friends the other day and smoked a blunt, it was smooth and mellow but had that harshness if you really drew a charger out!

Thanks for the comments all! Hopefully will be some more soon.

Seems like a pretty even mix of some who still combust quite a bit (as do I), some who only do it when in social smoking situations and some who stick with the vapor. Of course there are some who would rather dab! Wish I still had the lungs myself to do that more. Getting really tough now that I'm getting batter at making oil. :brow: As it is now (cigarette smoker for 25+ yrs and many tokes for even longer), I can't do more than a few dabs a week. Well I can.... but can't hardly talk for a day if I do. Gotta get off these damned coffin nails!

I greatly enjoy the ritual of smoking with buddies, however that being said...

I'm a practicing martial artist, and I do some of my heaviest training when I'm home on breaks. I got a cough soon after coming home from sunny Cali, which I realize now I exacerbated and lengthened by smoking. Partly it was my own stupidity in not taking a break from smoking as soon as I started coughing, which I acknowledge.

I've now made a commitment to limit my combusting to once a week, allowing myself as much (reasonable) vaporization as I want. I'm also not going to ingest any sort of vapor when I'm sickI'm kind of bad at judging what my body is telling me, though, so I need to be careful about this. While I do a lot of social smoking at school, and this is going to be hard for me to stick with, I'm done fucking with my body.

Long story short, I've been limited in my activities (I haven't been able to do as much hapkido because I needed to get over this cough) because of my combustion habits. That's the point at which I'm DONE with smoking. Furthermore, I feel 'slow' the day after smoking, and working out and doing productive activities in general is harder for me than if I'd vaped the day before.

That's my own experience, and it took me a long while to realize. Your own may differ. FUCK combustion.

I still combust much much more.. Gravity bong hits or bong bowls or fat blunts after school to the dome! Which means at least a 5-person smoke sesh everyday!

I never do anymore. I was fortunate enough to only smoke for a very short time before I was turned on to vaporizing. The choice was easy for me after that, and now I am 100% smoke free. Smoking is shit for your health and a complete waste of precious THC. And seriously... since when does not smoking make you "rude"? If you guys don't want to harm your health just to get high then you have that right, and it's not rude to exercise it. I would say it is rude to just expect someone to inhale smoke from something you passed them, not for you to turn it down.

I am a complete vapor snob, and not one bit ashamed.

Haha, well put aesthyrian. I do understand where weedemon comes from though, at least where social smoking is concerned.

I'm just going to have to explain to my buds that if they want to sesh I'd gladly join em, but will just load up my vapo with 'em. I'm often 'ambushed' coming into my room"hey, want a hit" but I'll just have to decline. At least once everyone knows they'll hopefully be cool with it.

Slightly nervous, but no longer willing to risk my health.

What is a "Glass nail"?

I do not combust at all anymore. I'm not saying I wouldn't or never will again, but I rarely vape as it is.

here for the chicks
To my own surprise I haven't smoked for several weeks now, not counting a little combustion mishap with a to hot a vape last night. It started more or less spontaneous, I simply decided not to buy a new pack of cigs when I was out at one point and stuck with it. I've even quit the e-cigs cold turkey because I didn't want to feed my nicotine addiction any longer, lmao.

Cigarettes alone didn't have much grip on me for years now already. It took me a good year to get rid of my joint addiction though, but I think I finally shook it off. Before this time vapor just couldn't really satisfy me, not like smoking a joint could. But it feels like I've adjusted over time somehow, like I had to develop a sensitivity to the more subtle high of vapor vs smoking. High temp vaping can even put me to sleep now, no way that that would happen a year ago. I hope this will be forgood. I don't mind if I light up again occasionally when I'm out with friends & drinking heavily, but I don't ever want it in my house or as a daily habit again.

I came from a joint smoking habit that was only a smoking habit when the times were tough.

I have been vaping regularly for more than a month while still combusting, but in the last 2 weeks the tides have turned.

I got the flu and didn't vape or smoke for three days, after that i extended the break for a few days and decided that i would only vape.

So far i have been successfull apart from two ocasions, with friends where i did two small tokes that left me with a bad taste and the reminder that my decision was correct.

Another change i realized since i stopped combusting is that i no longer need to get high, in fact i don't get hedgy and in a bad mood, and can go for hours without feeling uneasy for not being able to vape.

I can only speak for myself but now i see the difference between using tobacco w/ herbs or just herbs and i encourage everyone who still hasn't give it a try to exclusively vape to do it for a while.

You will be surprised on how fast you will kick the physical addiction of tobbaco, and how much you will enjoy the vapors!

I bought my VB about a month ago and it's been a life-saver for me. I was quite a heavy smoker, and in UK for whatever reason we almost always use tobacco in our joints. It took me a while to realise that I was smoking so much because of the tight grip that nicotine had on my life. As soon as my VB arrived I haven't smoked anything since, and I haven't had a dose of nicotine either! TBH I haven't even considered vaping tobacco...

IMHO the vaping high is so much cleaner and in general more pleasant than a combustion experience. (no horrible aftertaste, no nasty smell on your person & surroundings, and most importantly - no carcinogens!!)

Most of the time I vape. I get the bong out for an occasional change.

When we're in Negril, we don't have choice any choice but to combust.
