    Hi all,

Just wondering whether anyone has any experience with adding terpenes to their herb before vaping?

I'm a flavour chaser, and absolutely love the flavour taste and smell of our beautiful herb. I recently picked up some cbd crumble with added terpenes (85%cbd +terps), some crumble has cannabis-derived terpenes (terps distilled by Origin Extracts in USA), and other crumbles have terpenes not sourced from cannabis added to them.

These crumbles are pretty nice, altho being in the UK and having no access to good concentrates its hard to judge.
However, with Blue River Extracts and Origin Extracts distilling strain-specific terpene profiles, I've been curious about perhaps adding terpenes to herbs for vaping.

I googled, and it seems like there's lots of places selling terps now (at least in USA), such as this website:
    https://www.theterpenestore.com/

However the above website is selling non-cannabis derived terpenes which they mix up to mimic well known strains. I'm a bit dubious about non-cannabis derived terps, even though I know from a molecular stand point I shouldn't be. However does anyone have any info on these new ranges of terms available? Yay or nay?

I quite like the idea of buying terp profiles of legendary strains which I've never even whiffed: green crack, grape ape, GSC.... etc....

    Thanks for reading

    Peace

I've recently come up with the idea of having a terp bucket on the side of a vape that activates once the terps in the herb vape out after a few draws on a session... kind of like fertilizer hook ups work on a garden hose that disperse small amounts of solution to the flow... all plants have some kind of terpenes usually as they are absorbed from the metal oxides in the soils... that is how we can determine cannabis lineage is from the metallic oxides in a strain to find the origins

Thanks for the reply! Yea I actually think it might have been a post of yours that jogged my mind a little- I had a similar idea last year in terms of my Vapcap and creating a 'flavour chamber' in the airpath where you could load fresh herb that wouldn't be roasted at the oven, but add heated terps to the vapestream. I tried to just shove a small piece of unground bud into the mouthpiece end of my OmniVap, but it didn't work too well. I actually didn't really consider using just straight terpenes, but I think you've got a great idea!

I guess what I actually want to know then is: are the non-cannabis terpene mixes to be trusted? I assume cannabis derived ones would be, as we inhale them anyway when we vape the herb.

    Peace

How did you get on with the CBD crumble?

I think @RastaVapa mentioned adding terps, I seem to remember him saying if you added too much it wasn't pleasant.

Nice to hear from you bro, sorry I havnt been in touch much, Dynavap has pretty much cured my vas, so I'm not on here much these days- the Vapcap thread moves so fast that I don't have the patience to read through it much anymore lol. And I'm also trying to make a concerted effort in using the internet/smartphone less and get more productive.

Anyway, it really is good to hear from you mate, gunna check out what's been going down in the phigshed- my notifications got turned off again...

As for the cbd crumbles, they are really nice actually- I find if I vape a Cap, and then vape a small dab of crumble, there is definitely a synergistic effect. I've got three types which have added strain specific, cannabis-derived terpenes (shangri la, black dominos and double purple Doja). They are pricey mind, but seeing as I can't get any real concentrates, I decided to try these instead. They rate at which I'm using them, they'll last a few months for sure.

And I can imagine too much terps would defo be harsh on the throat... I was thinking of loading herb into my Vapcap, then dipping a needle into the terps and then dipping that into the loaded herb... I might try to order some (if they ship from America)... for science!

    Peace

One of those things mate we all have lives outside of FC, I may get some of the orange crumble and give it whirl. I had some orange bud years ago and nothing has ever been as citrusy.
Even the kief hash smelt like a fresh peeled one.

All in the same boat by the sounds of it.

I'll be in touch when I get a chance, take it easy.

I've actually got some of the orange crush crumble, I'm pretty sure the terpenes that are added to it are not derived from cannabis, but I assume they are food grade and safe... the taste is really really nice with the orange crush tho, and it vapes nice, so I'd recommend it pal- it actually has the most noticeable flavour out of all of them for me.

    Speak soon dude,
    Peace

my shoulder is messed up so I loaded some hemp seed oil with a few black pepper EO drops and soaked it on... my shoulder smells like pepper, lol....
a good clean black pepper oil can work or D limonene oil... if they are food grade

I believe terps are created from the soils so they would be similar among plants because they would absorb them in the roots.. the beta Caryophyllene is the same structure in all plants... amounts will differ..

the terpenes are carrier compounds too that deliver heavier phyto- cannabinoids into your tissue more efficiently... they are the guide posts pointing the way

The source of the terpenes makes no difference whatsoever as long as they are pure. Food grade may not be pure enough if you are vaping them. I read somewhere that couch lock weed gets its sedative effect from a relatively high proportion of the terpene myrcene. I have some herbal essential oils and one of them, thyme oil, has a fair bit of myrcene in it. So I put a drop of it in some sativa oil, and it certainly mellowed it out nicely! It also gave it a wonderful taste :). Myrcene is available really cheaply on eBay so that might ge a good terp to add to your cannabis of choice. Also Eucalyptus oil is rich in terps and that might make for a very cool vape session. Haven't tried it yet. Also both of those oils are very thin compared to the viscosity of cannabis oil. So maybe someone should try using them to thin out oil or even shatter.

be careful with some EO oils... some are extracted with harsh chemicals and are for smell only... http://alchemistoils.com/ is a good source I've found

    Check this out:

    http://foggflavors.com/terpsauce.php

Looks like these guys really know what they are doing. Tons of info on terpene profiles of various strains, and detailed references related to the pharmacological properties of each terpene. I've emailed them to find out of their viscosity is low enough to be used for thinning concentrates.
