30% of the THC is exhaled

Hi y'all! New FC user here...longtime lurker and vaporist. Back when I purchased my first vape, the Vapolution, I was doing the research and found this: 30% - 40% of the THC is exhaled in a clinical study using the Volcano. :o

It states:
"The Leiden University study found that as much as 30%40% of inhaled THC was not absorbed by the lungs but simply exhaled. However, they did not find large individual differences in the amounts exhaled.[10] Users may therefore improve efficiency by breathing several times in and out of a bag after a serving."

So, I've tried (when feeling like I need to conserve) exhaling into a bag (or balloon for a punch!) to then take a second sip/rip and I imagine that I am receiving more of the THC and perhaps CBD's, CBN's by utilizing this method?

If youre fiending. Visibile vapor is wasted vapor, it terms of your health however Im sure it is more beneficial to cycle the hit only once.

i have tried exhaling vapor into a bag then re-breathing with much success. its just too much work when I'm just trying to relax and chill out.

This is what I have been talking about for a while now when people mention or complain about a vaporizer leaking vapor, that was a topic about Zephyr Ions a while back, or worry about vapor condensation. I always thought it was funny that people would worry about a tiny puff of vapor when they exhale so much.

I think it is just a fact we have to accept, we will always loose a portion of anything we ingest whether is be food or vapor in this case, you wont catch me at a restaurant licking the plate clean no matter how much I like the dish.

It's already pretty efficient, but yes not all the vapor you inhale are you going to absorb obviously. I'm surprised that we have as much efficiency to obtain over half of the THC from an inhale. That is actually pretty good if you ask me. If you had 100% efficiency, almost nothing would come out when you exhaled.

As for breathing it back into the bags, I wouldn't suggest it. The bag should be sterile and only have vapor going in from the device and coming out into your lungs. It just doesn't seem sanitary breathing into the bag.

This is why you should strengthen your lungs and respiratory system using the powerlung or powerbreathe(google search. They are worth the money) and doing wind sprints which is running than doing a fast 30-40 second sprint and than returning to normal running speed.

Eating a lot of nuts and seeds which are high in fat helps also.

These methods will train your lungs to utilize oxygen which in turn will increase your thc absorption but the thing is you will be able to hold in the vapor long without any feel of unease and because this is not smoke but clean vapor you will get blasted and utilize all of the vapor which means your vapor will go a long way.

BTW, the difference between powerlung and powerbreathe is that the powerbreathe only works out your inhale strength while powerlung works both your inhale and exhale strength. These two are considered the best, at least in their price range, for strengthen the respiratory system.

If you are really serious about getting high having a strong immune system(eating whole foods nuts, seeds, leafy vegetables(juicing for high affect), fruit, beans, grains), nervous system(resistance training) and cardiovascular system(aerobics) will get you BLASTED especially when vaporizing or eating herb off of very little.

How Do I Do Wind Sprints?

During the middle of your aerobic exercise, add several short bursts of intensity by going faster or increasing the resistance. Don't try to go as fast or as hard as you can. Just go fast enough so that after 20-40 seconds you are breathing harder.

The real secret to increasing fitness with wind sprints is what you do AFTER the sprint.

To get the maximum benefit from your sprint, you've got to return to the speed you were going prior to the sprint. Do not stop or go slower than pre-sprint speed. After you have recovered from the sprint, repeat this sprint/recover cycle. You can eventually add up to 5-10 sprints per workout. Here's a bonus: when you add sprints to your workout you can shorten the total exercise time.

I also have done the exhaling vapor into the bag, it does work and is far from being nasty.
altho much of the time I don't do it, especially that you don't really feel the taste when doing that.

@ Carbon, there is not such things as sterile balloon anyway :D.

This is why I take small quarter to half tokes - quarter to half of my lung capacity and the rest is fresh air. Maximise the amount of vapor your lungs absorb, everyone's capacity will be different so find your own sweet spot where you're no longer exhaling highly visible vapor.

I find i get more blasted by taking lung saturating hits and wasting some, than taking small hits and "ghost hitting" them IME. I do both from time to time because the smaller tokes are tastier. Kinda do a first quarter toke to absorb it all (and nurse the taste), then just rip the rest to get huge clouds.

@Luchiano - you're crazy man lol. I dont think most people on here are gunna go out and run circuit sprints to improve their vapour absorption efficiency. Funny enough, i do these and hill sprints all the time when training for a kickboxing fight. Next time ill just be thinking "just think of the vapour efficiency...." Might make them a bit easier.

Big hits are nice but you do need to limit them if you want to avoid wasting vapor. One way to limit waste is to do partial exhales. When you're holding a big hit and need some air, exhale a little and then suck in some more air. Repeat as necessary or as you like.

No harm in trying :cool:

Doing what I posted isn't just for vapor absorption but it also makes sex wonderful and if you do a few other things regarding the big man and his team down under you can have a lot of strong good orgasms.

Alcohol is also better too and you only need a little to get nice.

When everything thing on the body is working at it's best and you take a little alcohol and a little herb, the dinner parties would be hot. The sausage will be plump and heat the buns up NICE. Don't make me get started on the clam chowder :p. The dinner guest would love you and want to have your babies cause you fed her good.

No, that is the lovely creamy juices she makes when she lands on the moon.


I don't think you get it. I'm talking about her clam juices if you know what I mean.

Being that this is a PG site I can't show you a video of what I'm talking about but a lady who knows herself very well and has hit the bottom of the ocean or has had her sea walls rubbed knows what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the squirting that is white and creamy and mostly oozes from deep
inside not the squirting that is clear and comes out like urine.

So, to recap what I've learned here...we will not achieve 100% efficiency no matter how hard I try... relax and chill-out and windsprint, powerbreathe, eat seeds and nuts, take small hits er...wait, take huge rips...er um, take medium sized vapor hits, use sanitary bags for the clam chowder...er, exhaling and 2nd hitter bag and cats are free-loafers universally speaking. My cat included.

The answer to 1984...is 1776 btw :D
