Hey guys,
I just got the grinders back from the anodizer yesterday. I assembled a few and took some pictures. See them below.
We've redesigned the grinder, so that it is able to produce fine, medium, and coarse grinds with a single top and 3 middle plates. We'll be sending this new design out...
Yes, that's quite the illusion in the first picture. It's because the lens is closer to the Gr8tr. It's taller and I was angling my phone so the lens got even closer. I removed it and added some dimensions for the diameters of the grinders.
Here are some more size comparison pictures featuring more grinders (Gr8tr V2, Santa Cruz Shredder Medium 4-piece, and the SLX V2):
The Brilliant Cut Grinder: Diameter: 2.2"
Gr8tr V2 Dimensions: Diameter: 2.2"
Santa Cruz Shredder Medium 4- Piece Dimensions: Diameter: 2.125″
SLX V2 Dimensions...
Yeah, usually the top pops off when it takes a huge hit at a certain angle. It usually needs to be thrown though. If the top was lighter, it would be even better at taking falls.
We'll experiment with different grips, but we haven't felt the need for them yet. Since it never jams, it doesn't...
Good to hear it held up. We tested and designed it to make sure it stayed together if it was dropped. My floor has tons of dents in it too. Lol.
I'm curious. Did the top pop off when you threw it or was it the bottom?
We will most likely change the name again. There is simply too much negative feedback for us to move forward with it.
We aren't too attached to the name "Stona" and we don't like the negative connotation that it carries.
We are leaning towards "the Brilliant Cut Grinder". What do you guys...
2.2" wide
1.71" high
Weight is around 5.3 ounces
Any anodized surface is subject to attack from the strong caustic detergents that might be used in a dishwasher. Just like most anodized aluminium cookware, we don't recommend putting the grinder in the dishwasher. The harsh alkaline detergents...
Here's a picture showing where we engraved the branding. It's an old picture and features the old name. We wanted to keep the branding discreet and classy.
The grinders that we gave Lazylathe are kind of outdated. They're still good, but we've improved some things after hearing his feedback...
Just to make this clear, when I say we'll make titanium grinders, I actually mean we'll make grinders out of grade 5 titanium (Ti6Al4V). They won't be "titanium" grinders made out of 6061 aluminium like some other companies offer.
We'll have to perfect the mechanical design first in aluminium...
That's been the plan. Perfect this grinder in aluminium and then make it in Stainless Steel and Titanium. The titanium will be super expensive but some people will absolutely love it.
We'll probably come out with a cheaper version as well. We'll see.
We have tried bevels on the top of the teeth, but they actually negatively affected the quality of the grind. It might be worth another prototype though, because we've made so many changes since we tried this.
With the current spacing between the floor and teeth and with the current bevel on...
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all of the feedback. It's been great to hear and it has been extremely helpful in refining the product to match what you guys actually want. We really appreciate it.
Thanks lazylathe for being our "Frontschwein" on here. You've been super helpful.
We're going to be...
