Maybe you could try taking long pulls without butane to see if you still get a headache? edit: I might have confused you with someone else.

Maybe the problem is that you're asking them to do something shady. They don't know who you are, and emails aren't really private these days. I've had only good experiences with customer service.

    What's your flame length like?

Also, sometimes word of mouth just takes a while to build, especially when there's no aggressive advertising.

^^^ I assume you already checked your pipe stem (if that's what you use) for any clogging?

Personally I like how the black cap matches the stem. I think the proportions of the 5.5 inch stem are more pleasing. I only have the plain torch, but it's easy. It'll overheat long before your thumb gets tired.

Could be the butane, what brand are you using?

    The Lotus Vaporizer

Yeah, I've had great success showing newcomers how to use the Lotus. They almost all get it on the first try. The ones who seem to have the most difficulty are regular smokers -- they're used to the harshness of smoke, so they don't realize they're getting vapor until they have too much to handle.

Mine also does this. It's apparently normal for the plate to flex a little, especially when using high heat.

I got the black vapor cap in May, and the paint is basically unblemished.

I've never used the Gnome, but judging from pictures, I can't imagine passing it around as easily as the Lotus, which is exactly like passing around a bowl + lighter.

Ground small but not powdery. Basically as small as you can get it without it falling through the screen. You shouldn't "pack" it in the sense of compacting the weed. I generally fill the bowl to about 2/3. Lighter flame at 1/2" to 5/8" may get you better results.

If you're ordering from the manufacturer, just use the contact form. If it hasn't already shipped, maybe they can cancel it and you can redo it. Vector butane from Amazon and head shops.

I purchased my pipe kit directly from the manufacturer and got excellent customer service. There would have to be a very steep discount for me to buy from anywhere else. Not sure if Vaporstore et al. offer a warranty?

Using a flame length of 2-2.5 cm, which seems really excessive, may be giving you different results.

I think he means radiant vs. convective heating of the herb. The vapor cap has two plates separated by an air gap, which blocks most radiant heat (added in Lotus v2, I think). In my experience, convection is the only mode of heating that has a noticeable effect on the herb. I guess you could...

You can top it off, and contrary to the instructions on Vector butane, you don't need to reduce the flame size before refilling.

I have the standard lighter too, and I've had zero problems with Vector butane. I also discovered that, contrary to the directions on the Vector can, it doesn't seem necessary to turn down the flame length all the way before refilling. The process takes all of 5 seconds. Much better than...
