No, the AC base will not run the herc. But it's a simple modification to make it work.

I've been using my herc with 601/510 adapter for almost 2 years now. It's just an aesthetic thing with the adapter increasing the overall length and also doesn't sit flush with the mod. Using the AC base is much prettier, that's all.

I found the right sized o-ring in a bag of spares I've accumulated over the years, so I have no idea on sizes. For reference it's about as thick as a nickel and just a bit smaller in diameter. On the AC, I took off the airflow cover and the included o-ring. Used the slot for a thicker one.
