I generally try not to eat until I've been high for at least an hour or two. My buzz goes away much quicker if I eat as soon as I finish puffing.

It's only about 2" and I wouldn't say it's very stable. If you bump the protruding stem it'll definitely tip over. Not really an issue for me...
