That lighter I got :/ its cool having both flames but it doesnt hold very much fuel at all . I could see it being better to get 2 different lighters rather then both in one . The jet flame is probly nice for wind but at home I'm just using the candle style flame .

I have let 3 people try the VG and no one burned it ( the load or the wood ) . :D

Raf007, some websites sell the VG for less than the official website, but also charge shipping and handling which makes it more expensive, unless you buy them in bulk to get free shipping.

Quick VG review....

Ordered my VG late on Sat. (2/13). Monday was holiday, and I received the pkg today (2/18). From Virginia to SoCal in 3 days of USPS handling: speedy delivery! The VG was enclosed in bubble wrap, with easy-to-understand instructions. I ordered the "wax only" ash wood model (I don't like a shiny, slick finish to woodgrain - the feel of natural, smooth wood can't be beat, IMO). The bowl easily unscrewed with a minimum of revolutions; just enough to keep it secured to the pipe bowl.

Used a bowl of some OLD, weak stash. After reading tips on this & other forums about handling the flame, not packing too much into the bowl, and "monitoring" the feel in the mouth as the bowl heats up, I'm happy to say I had 6-7 good hits, with no burning! Just gradual darkening from green to brown. I strongly suggest using a mirror to see the shape and position of your lighter flame when you're getting acquainted with your VG: the flame should just dip toward the filter, without going into the bowl more than an eighth inch. I tried both "jet" and Bic-style lighters. Indoors, I decided to stick with Bic: easier to keep an eye on the flame (harder to see the flame tip on most jet types). Outdoors, I'll probably lean toward a jet. Even with the weak sh*t I started out with, I had a nice, mellow glow, with no coughing or clinging weed smell. Hang on....just checked my eyes in mirror: no bloodshot eyes, either! I guess you can tell, the whole VG experience has been very positive! I'm new to vaping, but this has worked out great. Just be patient, go slow, and watch the flame!:peace:

Cheers!

Great review and advice. The VG was my very first vape. Haven't used it in awhile, but after reading this, I may just fire her up for old times sake.

Also got my VG last week.
Not disapointed, but not stoked neither.... I guess it's because I have better vapes thow.
But I bought it, for one purpice only, which is being able to vape when caving partying in Paris once a week.
And for that purpice, it did the trick !
First time in my life I don't combust when I'm down there. Surprisingly I also got 2 friends to use it and enjoy it all night long without combusting. One was he's first time vaping, the other had a little xp with the VC. So learning curve was ok. I did combust myself a few times thow, wanted to take the most out of it, and it's kind of hard to know when you're done when you start with a natural brown weed.
One of my friend is now considering buying one, he tried the VC but it's way too xpensive for him, so he sees it as a good start.

I've had my genie a year (and have since bought 3 more for friends/family) and after watching your video, I am only now learning how to light it properly. I thought I had it, boy was I wrong.

Yes for the first time in almost a year, I actually tasted the woody taste of the pipe itself!

Thanks man!

well i havent used my vapor genie since the start of the summer. i ended up letting a friend borrow it only to come to find he had been combusting the bowl when he thought it was done to make sure he got everything. i didnt say much just took it back and have just now got to cleaning it out. i got nearly all the resin out of it, cant taste any more of it anyways. and finally put it all back together. i lost the spring that goes into the bowl, so i just shoved a screen all the way down, and found it worked alot better then i remembered. i was getting big thick clouds right away. now i just got to figure out if i want to order a new base or order some pipecleaners and pipetips. i dont think i will need the spring as i like it better without. all i can say is i need to use this thing a little more. its kind of nice to use a lighter from time to time. feels more "natural"

i think i'm going to have to get a vg for backpacking purposes. the lb, although extremely light is too fragile. it would probably get trashed by me in the woods. if anyone thinks there might be a better option feel free to let me know.

High guyz - I'm looking for some advice on my VG,

Its actually a regretful accident I had with it -

I was actually using my VG like I have been doing since i've received it 2 weeks ago - and i must say absolutely great product. (its so great because there is no pre heating phase !!!)

Well n'e way I tend to screw off the top part with the filter after every hit to check up on the goodies.
I was kinda distracted :) and forgot to screw the top back on - hit the thing with my jet lighter and shortly after blew out the icky combustion.

Now my problem is - I have ruined my VG forever by making it taste like icky yucky combustion.
The website - I believe - sais there is no way to get that taste out again.

I have a traditional maple wood VG - has this ever happened to n'e one - and if so ---- is there a way to get rid of that burnt taste?

I once used a lighter to clean the screen by hitting the pipe while burning it off. At that point, I'd forgotten how bad the taste was!

I don't remember it ruining the pipe, as I still use it. You can clean it with hot water and it may help some.

I was thinking about rinsing it through - but then again i am afraid it might ruin the wood from the inside?

How about just vaping it sooooo long - that the taste is covered would that work?
At the moment I am not willing to hit is if it taste yucki - but if it'll help I'll risk it.... h:cool:

When I used to clean mine, I would use a long wire to collect any build up within the pipe. I then save what I pull out. what I do next is the fun part. I put the top back on and hit it alot. You can cause some of that build up to vaporize. You can get pretty vaked cleaning out the condensate within the pipe this way.
After I cannot produce any more vapor, I use a pipe cleaner and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. Tiny amount of alcohol so the wood does not get ruined.

water is not going to hurt wood.

have you hit it since to taste it?
just a thought, but wouldn't using water be futile? On any of the wood that is... THC is not water soluble and would in fact protect the wood. And the water would not do much to move any build up effectively.

It's been awhile but I think I used soap and water with a pipe cleaner to get the gunk out.

I've used ISO to clean out an accidentally combusted bowl in an exotic VG once with good result. The trick i guess is to do it quick and dry it out immediately afterwards.

The damage to the wood would most likely be caused if you let it soak or did something stupid like that. A quick ISO rinse should get rid of the taste quickly without causing trouble. Best might be to use a grain alcohol and do some bowls to dry it out afterwards. Not sure if inhaling ISO fumes is good for you. I dried mine out with pipe cleaners and a blow dryer.

That being said I've been much more absent minded with my Glass VG. I think I combusted 3 times in the first month already by forgetting to put the top back on before cranking out the torch.

:) Nice Tips!

Hmm well I didn't have n'e ISO or High% Alc lying around.
What I did which works OKAY - but doesn't get the nasty taste out 100%

*I was doing some testing*

I took one day - enough herb, and vaporized the whole day!
After the 5th bowl - you just taste that after more frequent use the taste will be more sweet and herbalicious. Sadly it will keep some of the earth taste that you get when vaping a pipe that was used once *accidently* lol to combust. After 10 bowl's the taste pretty much is a vaporizer taste.

So just vape the whole day using the VG - and it'll get some of the nice taste back.
It worked for me - nevertheless i think i'll go order a 2nd one just because they make me happy :)

If n'e one knows a method that works 100% :) I'm glad to hear that

I just cleaned the screen with 70% alcool and a Qtip, flamed it slightly after that, and then a soft touch of paper.
First few puffs, not so good, then back to ok, and then as stated above you get the taste back by vaping, IMHO.
