Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
Thanks for the help @ZC @WakeAndVape & @AJS

I only had 3 sessions and have been getting better results. Though I'm using a wooden stem from ed that fits both sizes of ddaves eq basket screens. This puts the herb closer to the heater. The abv was the right kind of dark and it was a tasty ride to get it there!

I really like this vape so far it is growing on me more and more!

I plan to get a set of 2 more batteries and the recommended 4 port digital charger.
When the zion arrives I have 4 more batteries so I don't think I need more than seven total... I hope..:mental:

@lazylathe Outstanding job that looks perfect!! I can't wait to see more of this custom milaana art!!

The return of @RastaBuddhaTao was like Gandalf in the shire a visit from an old familiar friend!

:peace:

Remember though, Zion batteries are just for Zion, paired set, Milaana uses singles, I have five Mi batts and like 5 Zion pairs now I think...
Also be careful with the EQ screens too, if its not a planetvape stem, could be risky as discussed here. But I'd love to see a shot of that Kingswood stem buddy. Also lot of great tips here but best to get most is practice

@lazylathe incredible, such a beautiful blue Milaana, gorgeous man, if I could do that I'd definitely feel better getting rid of my blue GH :p

If this was my first vape after first trying the Thermovape T1 to start (maybe even after Solo), when I was a total newbie to it all, I honestly probably wouldn't have bought all the crazy amount I have now. I think this vape can absolutely be recommended to inexperienced novices, if fucking combustion is the goal then it is one of the best options around imo for a personal portable vape :2c::peace:

@bounce5 : I'm afraid your screw+washer idea would ruin the aesthetics... or say, it will not look very good.

By the way, question to those having the GonG getting unglued: did some of you use your Mi exclusively dry and still had the issue? Or do you all use water tools of some kind?

My two Zi and now my Mi are being used daily for many months now, and my GonGs are not moving a iota. I use them exclusively dry and don't put any pressure on my stems. I really have the intuition it's related to the amount of pressure they see. Even the inverted device weight might be too much, who knows?

I like it but that's the greenest amber stem I've ever seen

Im a little color blind (found out painting!) but I too am pretty sure thats definitely green..

We do have evaluated some mechanical solutions but to cost and complexity it adds as well as the investment in tooling is not supported by estimated market gains.

Several proposed options would require little to no tooling, I think fixing something before it becomes a bigger problem (with more warranty RMA's) may be cheaper in the long run since the adhesive hasnt proven to be very consistent thus far. 2 part epoxy isnt cheap either, you would be cutting that cost altogether.

Getting rid of the glue would undoubtedly make your vaporizers more attractive to the more (possibly overly so?) health conscious in the crowd, which makes up more of the market than you may think! :2c:

I'm not the most handy person, but I hope someone will try and find a solution. Who knows maybe someone could design a decorative steampunk style washer that looks really cool @Ratchett , or make a wooden one that would look cool. There might be a solution that looks extremely minimal (like adding some small metal tabs that hold it in place and are screwed in). Just some ideas of course. But beyond aesthetics, it would just be awesome to see someone come up with a solution. I dislike having to worry about the female glass coming loose and falling out, and of course the glue. I probably won't be the one to do it, but hoping that someone else will try. I would like to know if it voids the warranty though.

This is one of the best vapes because it solved many of the problems from other vapes - if it resolved it's build quality issues there would literally be no reason not to recommend this vape. I think it would have a chance at becoming a hit, otherwise I really don't think it will. Just my opinion. I'll shut up now. :horse:

Wooden washer may be the way to go on glass. But, doesn't really matter for me. Mine is one of the early ones that didn't seem to have much glue at all. Not enough I guess, because my F-GonG popped out about the same time I saw first reports here - within a few sessions. I just pushed it into the wood. It came out a couple days later, so I found what I think is the best position for my GonG on my wood and gave it a good squeeze into place. That was months ago, and it has only come out once since (when mouthpiece was stuck in it). I pushed it back in at same position and haven't had an issue since. Hope my new one (Zi pre-order deal) works the same or glue isn't really an issue since updates.

The learning curve is very important with this vape....I claim some vaporizer experience and I was very close to sell it before to explore more all the possibilities cause the burning taste I got and the not replicable hits....

But I was able to improve the taste using very small load and with better drawing technique, i understood better how it drains the battery to get the hits I want too.

I still get some issues:
- uneven abv (even with stirs)
- How do you place the provided screen (by the GonG or by the mp, it seems too small to fit the GonG side)?

My screens was pretty clogged and I decided to clean them taking hits with a fresh battery...endless free big hits (even if it's already free!)!!!

I keep my screen basket style with the edge just inside the edge of the GonG. Occasionally push it back for larger loads, but am used to it being out near the end. Works great for me! On the non-RBT stems I use I usually spread the screen a bit so it stays nice and tight. I use a piece of 3/8" dowel to spread it about half way down the basket and it works nicely. Takes a little push to get it in. Use something almost as wide so the bottom of the basket stays flat. Pen cap works for me.

I prefer closer to heater with not quite as much heat as many probably use. This is what I've been doing with nano for years, so I know it well and like it fine. Figure I'm cutting back on battery use just a bit, too. Maybe another load per charge?

Took Millie to another garden party last nite, actually just 4 of us and the dogs. Sigh...Both of the "combusters" reverted to form and managed to char the biomass. The other FCer and I didn't. Oh well everyone had fun and a double boil of two stems and the smell is gone; well, mostly, had to run a few bowls this morning to be sure. ;) Thinking I may have to get a session vape for foolproof celebration; folks keep forgetting to clear the heat after a few pulls, but it's still all good, just a little more work for the vapemeister. As testament to her power we managed to get Millie about as hot as a well used log. I need to work on my "reloading in the dark" technique...

Have had a few drunken combuters harsh my stem/screen up too. Dip the whole end in ISO for 15 minutes or so, pop screen out and give it a quick toothbrush scrub, run a small bottle brush through stem, rinse both in hot water, dry and good to go.

When I see another mi for sale I instantly want to buy it. I already own one, why am I so obsessed with this thing.
Oh, I don't know. Because it is a fine vape that checks all the boxes? Because you never want to be without one? Am I close?

I use both my Zion and my Milaana with water tools 80 or 90% of the time and I have never had an issue with a glass joint coming loose. Venus for over a year and Bam Bam for just short of 3 months. I AM careful with them and never twist the joints and any drops have been to carpet so far. At least once with a stem in, but it didn't fall on the stem.

And I have ZERO concern about a small amount of medical grade epoxy in the cold air path. I don't believe the risk is measurable, and I'm quite sure I consume much more dangerous pollutants the moment I step outside my door. Probably before.

If you look at the current production model from above, you can see that there are only two spots were we could put screws/fasteners: the two corners on the trigger side. On the opposite side of the GonG we have the air intake and the battery screw. There's some spare room next to the battery screw but it's crowded.

Now even if we could secure the GonG from the top on two diametrically opposed locations, it would prevent lifting but not side to side wobbling / jiggling and worse, rotation. I don't know how tight the fit in the wood is but I know there's some variation with glass parts, some units would be affected more than others... imagine users complaining because their GonG rattles! :p

If someone wants to try a simple DIY fix, I think it would be possible to use staples in 3 locations (two corners and next to battery post) Insert the staple legs part-way into the wood close to the glass then carefully bend the head of the staple over the lip of the GonG. Don't know if that is clear?

This might be in the wrong thread but maybe you guys can give me some guidance being that we're all Mi users:) I need to invest In a good grinder so I'm deciding between the Santa Cruz, space case or mendo mulcher. Feeling a two piece instead of a four. What would you guys go with?

I really want an SCS 3 piece actually... took the middle out of my 4 piece, gotten before they had released the 3 piece... it's nice bc you can do course or grind finer upside down too... I'd like to try a space case as well though

A. It's why I have 4...

@murf2010
@OF (AA thread) turned me on to drying herb and shredding with a medtainer. I have 3. The combo of dry and shred, imho, is ideal for vaping. Even though Mi can handle anything, results are even better performance.

B. Question for Mi users?
I have 4 Milaanas. Sent first broken one in for repairs, returned perfect in 10 days. My second Mi, daily driver, has a cracked GonG, but works perfectly. Should I send in even though the crack has zero effect?

C. Technique Update

Been doin' less feathering, more drawing after button release. Another way to cool smooth Vapor. With the wood stem, I haven't coughed once. And it's much less work, wear and tear, and battery usage. I still feather a bit, but it's more about timing the release, and just keep pulling once enough heat has settled into the herb itself. I can't freakn' believe that thanks to you guys, I've found an even better way to use Milaana.

D. Ed TNT Stem
About 3 inches above wong joint, I love this thing as I learn how to use. Personally, I'd like that finish on Mila, although she is a beauty all natur'al... (Walnut oil only)

Build quality is impeccable. 100% :2c:

That Ed stem is lovely, I'm still holding out hope that he'll resume custom pieces sometime, despite his work developing other products!

I'd send the cracked unit in to get fixed if I were you.
It's not as though you'll be stuck for vapes in it's absence!

FWIW, I too have zero concerns re' the way the glass is fixed into the body.

My glass is rock solid, and my only (very minor) gripe is that it leans to the side a tiny bit, and results in a vape that's ever so slightly 'Forest Whitaker'.
But, like Forest, it performs like a champ, so I can live with it :p
(please note that -for reasons unrelated to his appearance- I do not live with Forest Whitaker).

My only functioning stem cracked when I was a little too enthusiastic whilst knocking out duff into a wooden bowl, so I've not used my Mi for a while, but RBT is sorting me out with some new stems.
I hope they come soon

I've been telling all the stoners I know that they need an RBT vape, but they are all committed combusters.
Even though a couple have been very impressed with my Mi, I think it's going to take some more sessions to prise their wallets open.
I'm working on it though!

Recovering Idealist
I just did a quick experiment with my Milaana to test extraction and the results were somewhat surprising in a positive way. I also think they might help explain why I am able to get the effect I need, even at lower temp sessions.

This morning I had a nice low temp session in my long stem. Normally I use the short stem but I wanted to test the long stem and see if I like using it again(I did). I wanted to see how well I had extracted the vapour using a method I hadn't used in a little while. I had my herbalizer sitting around because my wife sometimes prefers it. The abv from my session was an uneven light yellow, slightly green colour which looked very similar to my abv from the herbalizer. I put it in the herbalizer and put the temp up to 445. After taking a normal size draw, I stopped because it didn't yield any vapour. After a low temp session in the Milaana there was no vapour left for the herbalizer to extract.

Thorough extraction in a portable form that didn't make me cough once during the session. I thought that was pretty impressive but ymmv. :peace:

My favorite stem is this $2.69 18-14 m2m I got off of DH Gate. That paired with my PWTA is the way to go since I only use this vape on the road and the vapor is harsh to me without it.
I'll share my method for good hits through water without charring. Top each load with a flattened out dab ;) Melt a hit on concentrate over your load and the oil will keep it from charring. Here's my load before and after several hits. Plus my favorite setup for the Mi.

Just received mine today. Shipping was super quick, but I'm not too far from NY so that makes sense. Had some batteries ready to go so I was able to dive right in after opening it up. Only tried it once so far, so very early impressions, but I'm loving it. The hits are potent and flavorful.

My female joint seems to be a bit deeper than I've seen on some others. I could fit an ISO male in there I think. Haven't tried it since the only other 18mm glass I have is an 18m/14m adapter I intended to use with the Zion and it's US, but there's a pretty generous gap between the end of the male on my short stem and the heater screen. Enough to fit an ELB, if nothing else. I'm liking the RBT screens, though, so probably won't experiment with any others for a while. I plan to try a load basket style, next, with the edge of the screen at the edge of the joint.

I used the method that I've seen WakeAndVape suggest, with the five second or so preheat before dropping the stem in, and it worked very well. Definitely no glue smell on my unit, the fit on the bottom and button is good, and the glass is just shy of being completely flush. If it holds up, this could definitely be a daily driver. I still wish the female glass was held in mechanically, but I'm pleased so far.

Calm Consistency
Well finally back home from Oregon, which means I'm reunited again with my beloved Milah and Mina. Unfortunately when I was there, I combusted for three days. I know, it's awful, but it was my first time in a legal state and it was hard to turn down the opportunity. Honestly though, it was hardly enjoyable. Would've been just fine going clean, and probably should have.

But either way, I can't wait to get that wonderful Milaana flavor again, it's pretty hard to beat. I'm going to sip low temps to hold flavor as long as possible, man how I missed it. Mina, you have me so, so spoiled. You truly do.
