When you plug in using supplied GH charger is there any lights or anything to indicate charge status? Mine appears to have none.

It should flash red while charging and flash blue when done..mine sometimes shows no coloe either and ive had to clean the contacts between charger and hopper..basically just wiped it all down..

Sorry to hear of others troubles!

I got mine on Friday, and it's been glorious!!! But...

I did have a "scare" Saturday morning. I unscrewed the mouthpiece and heard a rattle, and then couldn't get the mouthpiece fully screwed back on. Turns out, the screen in the mouthpiece needed to be tightened, and problem solved.

Before I figured it out, I submitt d a RMA and also emailed Caroline. Got an email reply from Caroline a couple hours later (on a Saturday!) with the suggested fix, and all is great again. (I actually figured out the solution before I heard back)

In terms of use, so far ZERO backend heat. This thing is a dream to hold and use! I have to admit, I don't push it. I use it as a one-and-done vape, and take long pauses between pulls (the gh cools all the way down before my next). So the mouthpiece never gets too hot.

I have not experimented too much with temps yet, and have only used it natively (no bubbler). I can see getting multiple gh's...for backup and for guests. I would much rather each have their own, rather than try to share it session style. And at its present price point, 2 gh's is less expensive than many individual vapes.

It's gonna be a great Sunday!

P.S. - @peterpiper, I wonder if you had the same problem I did? When you say "cap", are you referring to the mouthpiece? Caroline suggested tweezers to tight n the screen, but I used a different tool. You may want to give it a try.
I had the same problem this weekend , I could not screw the mp back on. I figured out it needed to just be screwed back in after looking at it puzzled for a bit. Mine has been working nicely so far. Cool back end , although I am like you and let it cool between hits. The front end does get hot. I kinda feel you have to rip it to get a big cloudy hit. Also batteries don't last so long. Mine started flickering after about 8 hit's. I been averaging about 3-8 rips per packing. Visible vapor starts at about 3-3 1/2 on the dial for me. So far I am really enjoying it.

So I'm a couple of days in with my titanium unit and I'm not sure if I have issues or not:

Out of the box the included hopper charger doesn't work. Shows a quick red flash then it goes blank.

I have the backend gap, I forget if I read that this is normal.

The backend does get pretty warm after 1-2 pulls. I'm getting about 10 pulls on a battery.

The threads on the backside of the body (where it meets the backend) have a stripped thread. Makes it a little rough to screw and unscrew the backend.

I feel like I don't get as great vapor production as I have seen in most of these videos online. After 1 or 2 pulls I'll get a big hit around temp 3.5-4 but then maybe one more small hit before I need to repack. I'm using a regular 4 piece grinder and packing about a .15 in the hopper bowl.

Maybe this is one issue or multiple issues, I'm not sure. I sent hopperlabs an email this morning so we will see I guess. Anyone have any input?

I never used the gh charger; only an external charger (the Nightcore). So I don't know what lights flash or should flash during charging.

So far, I have had ZERO backend heat (and fingers crossed, knock on wood, and anything else I can do, it stays that way). Your bad thread is enough to get a replacement, I would think.

I'm not a cloud chaser, but mine seems to produce what I would call acceptable amounts. But I've basically been sticking at temp 3.

I've done a little better on battery life so far (maybe 15 pulls? I have to start keeping count!). It's hard to say the volume I'm putting in the oven since I don't weigh it. I can say I don't fill or tightly pack the oven. It seems to be a very small amount.

I'm not sure this is helpful for you, but I tried. I hope and expect you'll hear back from ghl soon. Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Thanks. So on temp 3 how many potent hits do you get from your packings? I only have experience with a solo and a pax so convection is new to me. I read that your first pull is all flavor then the 2nd pull is a real nice hit. I get that the herb needs to be heated, but does it need that "preheat" first drag every time you turn it on or just per fresh pack? So if I fill the hopper a good amount my first two hits I get 1 flavor hit and the next a potent hit. If I put it aside for let's say an hour and then use it again, do I still need to pull twice to get a potent hit? Thanks to anyone who offers advice.

It may sound strange but when its charging there don't seem to be as many LED visible as when you're using it. So sometimes I have to turn around the GH to see the charging light.
Yes, exactly. Slow blinking red when charging (slow blue when done) and you need to look as it seems on mine that the LED shines much brighter out of one spot than the rest. But its still easily visible..at least to me on mine.

P.S. I don't really use the GH charger much...I just pop the batteries in a D-4 and all is good.

That's just the first hit of a chamber, not every time you turn it on. If you take a long slow draw you can get decent clouds on the first hit too.

Are you sure you're putting .15 in? I managed to put that much in when I first got my Grasshopper just to see how much it could hold. I had to really pack it to get that much in there. I use a medium grind.

Personally I load about .05 grams, and get on average 3-5 nice clouds at temp 4 depending on the cannabis.

Convection works better with more room for airflow. I wouldn't recommend packing any more than .10 if you want nice clouds. Packing more full than that tends to give smaller clouds, increased draw resistance, and causes the mouthpiece to heat up much quicker in my experience.

Even when I pack .05 the chamber is filled to the top, just fluffy and loose.

Okay so only the first draw of a new/fresh pack is the warm up hit - rather than every time you hit the device cold.

I've put less than that too. I'll get 1-2 good hits then no more vapor, at least visible vapor. But I've seen videos of a small packing (half of less) and guys getting at least 4 huge hits from them. Maybe I'm drawing on the unit too hard? I noticed after a long draw or two the red lights flicker (overheat?)

I honestly haven't filled the oven that many times yet...it's still too new. So far, I have found the first pull on a fresh oven tastes best, but I haven't found huge flavor degradation yet. That's likely due in part to me not temp stepping. I seem to be getting 6+ pulls from a load, but I don't fill or tightly pack the oven.

I haven't experienced the "warm up" you're describing. And unlike many, I'm not a cloud chaser or base results on what I can see (I don't need visible vapor to know its working).

I haven't seen those red lights. I have actually noticed I get better clouds from hitting it harder. I usually take long, hard draws, maybe 20 seconds or more.

In the videos you have seen they are probably using temp 5, or at least 3.5-4. That's where the true clouds start rolling in in my opinion. I'm not a fan of the taste at temp 5 personally, so I usually stick to 4. If I have weaker cannabis sometimes I take a final hit at 5 just to get a little more out of it.

Yea I'm definitely taking long hard draws around temp 4. Even with small-medium packs I get maybe 2 cloudy hits then nothing. I've seen in the codes guys getting multiple huge clouds. Help!

There are only two things I could think of. The first one is quality of material. It can be hard to admit to yourself if your material is not high quality. I have purchased cannabis from a dispensary that looked very high quality but was low in THC. You can't always go by looks.

I find with vaporization it is easier to tell low quality cannabis because you will get less vapor. This is especially true with convection. I find with conduction it more affects the thickness and richness of the vapor, not the quantity of hits.

When I got my first convection vaporizer I was surprised at how much of a difference there was. It makes sense, if you have cannabis with 10% THC you will only get half as many hits as cannabis at 20% THC, all other things being equal.

Convection vapes actually changed how I purchase cannabis, I buy smaller amounts now, test it, and then purchase large amounts of what I liked best in terms of flavor, effects, and potency.

If you are truly confident it's not your material than there might be a problem with your hopper. The overheating lights worry me as I've only seen them once when using it through water at temp 5, when I was specifically trying to hit the fuck out of it. I was going for a one hit extraction at temp 5 with my D020-D. I damn near succeeded too! :science:

Hey all,

Received my hopper Saturday along with yall's batch. Have already ran an embarassing amount of batteries through the device, no backend heat so far. Fingers crossed it's a good one. The last 1mm or so of the backend is a bit tighter to screw/unscrew so perhaps that is where folks are not completely sealing the back due to that resistance?

Native, not really going above 4. Attached to my 14mm female rig, I'm not needing to go past 4-4.5 either. Vapor is a little bit harsh native, but still decent enough. Works.

Haven't used the provided charger so far, especially after reading so much previously that imo appears to be charger caused issues. Who knows though. I'll use it for a few months now and then decide on a review.

Here it is already making work more interesting this morning though :)

Greetings....

I'm happy to see some happy hopper users in the bunch... seems like the hot back end may be a diminishing problem if GH is shipping new back ends without asking for the unit back... I hope when mine arrives (got the address confirm last week!) it will have the latest rev of that backend design....

BATTERY question: Apologies if I've missed it somewhere, but, does anyone know the current capacity of the GHL battery? I assume there's something proprietary about it that a substitute cannot function properly, but other than physical dimension and current capacity (and of course, being 3.7V), I don't see why there is a difference...

Any battery heads care to educate a straggler?

JoeMama,
Just got my SS hopper. Pretty excited, but there were a few fit & finish issues I noticed immediately. The back end is a different finish from the body and front. The back end on one side of the clip doesn't evenly meet the body - there's a slight ridge. The threads for the mouthpiece seem a bit rough or chewed up, though after rubbing them with a bit with a cloth the mouthpiece seems to screw and unscrew smoothly enough. The screen parts in the mouthpiece are loose and rattle around with shaking.

The clicker is stiffer than I expected, but I guess that will break in with use. Heat-up time is very fast and I haven't detected any heat in the back-end. Defiantly gets hot fast around the heater.

Haven't loaded any herbs yet, will add more thoughts later!

I'm really surprised. Up to now August is called as estimate ship date for new orders on GH's Site.
This would be max. 6w time of waiting.
End of long time of waiting issue for customers? Improved production a/o lack of orders?
