Discontinued HomeGrownLogs

For those of you fortunate enough to have one of these homegrown logs can anyone comment on the taste/flavour you guys are getting from your logs? I'm a big favour lover from my weeds and any new unit will have to perform top notch in this area.

Have a Milaana and omni vapcap which get used at home and away but looking for a home unit that delivers on many levels taste being a primary one, cloud production another along with ease of use and setup, looks like the HGL could fit this bill cheaper than most units and handmade in the uk too :).

@anasrzi the flavor is great. I am still amazed at how little I can load and how good the outcome always is. I used 0.025g as an example as it's half my usual VC load but have done smaller. Cloud production with the PSU RV sends out is also great. I will get a booster and try it at some point. My leftovers are sand colored and just out of interest sake I'd like to see where a bit of extra power gets me.

How much extra is the psu you send out? And are there other extras available for a bit more money? Still so excited for mine

@RastaVapa the video I WhatsApp'd you yesterday was poor and so was every one I tried doing of it in use. Poor fone was struggling to keep up. I've just picked up some 'cups' and will be trying them out later this evening. Still got two bits of that beech left I can send down to you. Off wood shopping tomorrow if time allows. Found a supplier not far from me and he looks to have some nice stuff. Any of you log fans out there feel free to contact myself or RV for more info on what we are up to.

Just had @Ruta drop in on his way home. First vape of the day for both of us. Two tasty mushrooms full each off a couple of pinches. I think he enjoyed it.:)

Thanks @HD Springer
Hats off to @RastaVapa for giving me the opportunity to turn him some bodies. I put the idea of me 'having a go' to him, showed him some of the ideas I wanted to try and translate and he was up for it. Can't thank him enough.
Fate and the love of timber has led me here. It may work out, it may not but if I don't try I will never know and I've got nothing to lose.
It's all a massive learning curve Mr Springer and it's all small steps. Doesn't always go well as was the case today. Crab apple covered in small burrs, canker, that died last year so I took it down.

LHS one looked all good but the lower portion has a crack in it and you can see it in the end grain. It's on the other side of the the nice inclusions. It would probably be okay but you just don't know.
RHS well I knew the burr was there and the dark markings made it even nicer. I only had to take it down a a bit more to get the last of the bark off and 'click, click, click' and not a nice VC kind of click.
The chuck jaws and the great big piece of bark around the burr meant it's destined for the burner. Maybe. Shame as it mellows really nicely once it's been turned.
Rastavapa I chucked a few bit's together before we spoke tonight and I came up with this. The SS drip tip does warm up a bit but wasn't that bad. Still a cool vapor experience. Many thanks again.

@Slow Draw McGraw I have plans to include another well know Stateside FC'er in some pieces. His work has gone from strength to strength and will add another dimension. Like RV he is also battling on thru some heavy isues, but battle on they do. Inspirational to all of us.
It's going to take some time and effort to pull it together and I'm realistic it may not come off at all, but fingers, toes, etc crossed it will.
Homegrown is @RastaVapa's baby and everything will have to be okay'd by him. I'm merely hoping to do some 'guest' turning.

:luv: That spalted beech is just beautiful - and it has a great shape to it too @phattpiggie :luv:

Oh, and I forgot to mention @RastaVapa - I really dig your hemp seed oil and beeswax conditioner. It really nourishes the wood, and gives it a lovely finish (& smell!). Think I'll have to bag me some more when I place my additional stem order.

Thanks @Seren I could tell from the end grain on the blank that the spalter ran all the way thru and was going to really stand out. Of course with hemp and wax the contrast was even better. I have still too try the oil on a salad it's a unique smell and flavor.
I ran a few 'rip and stuff' bowls with the SS drip tip today and it worked well. The bowl is 15mm deep and I just chucked a nug in. Really good flavor and plenty of vapor. Used a cuticle cutter to break it up and ran it again and again. I was a bit surprised how many lungs full I got.
The thinner portion of that log does get 'hot' to the touch, not uncomfortable for me but others may not like it. The top and bottom parts remain very cool to the touch. It's been left on for a good 10 hours today.

Just curious.. Is the smell with a convection log more/less than with a solo or other conduction vapes? assuming u have the same kind of high grade flowers in both ofc.

Its less hits with this log and no constant cooking of herbs, but does it have an impact on smell?

Smelliest thing about my nano is opening my stash jar to load a gong.
My solo and air stink just waiting for them to reach temp (in comparison).
