next generation e-nails?

Would someone please explain coil size to me? Does it have anything to do with joint size or are they unrelated. Fwiw I'll be using with a 14mm rig

Coil size is the diameter of the heater coil, unrelated to join size on the rig. Coil size is needed to pair up nails with the heater. Flat seems to be all the same size at the moment.

I looking at the boss unit from the last page. It allows me to choose sizes for both the nail and the coil... I get that they should match, but how do I decide whether 16 or 20 is best for me?

@FlyingLow I guess it depends on what type of nail you plan to use. I am not a fan of Ti and went with a flat coil to use with a d-nail base and halo dish. So far that is the best configuration I have tried out of about 6.

I started out with a 20mm coil and Ti nail, that was fine but the dish was too shallow for me and the dabs would bubble up the sides too much. I then got a 20mm quartz domeless nail, that was a huge improvement but the bottom of the dish just didnt get enough heat so I had to crank it up. Once I got the halo dish and the d-nail hardware (base, carb cap), I'm pretty much settled on what meets my needs (not too shallow, can run it low temps, carb cap and halo dish have some some tech that just rocks when used together)

If you like Ti, get the 20mm, that way you can get a pretty sturdy quartz domeless if you want to try the quartz route. The flat coils usually have options for Ti/Quartz hybrid nails, those are decent if the dish is a good size, some are too small to get the dabs in.

Hi, has anybody tried to use a SiC halo on a chinese hybrid nail and a chinese coil?
DNail says its just compatible with their own nails and the HE InfiniTi and their own coil but I argue this is only for promotion these products?

The problem is the retaining nut that fits the halos probably won't thread properly on the base. It might work just not as well as with a compatible base.

Thx, but you havent try it yourself?
Is the diameter of the chinese thread smaller oder wider than the thread of the D-Nail Nails?
All prices of D-Nial seems to me unreasonable, so I would like to use a cheaper base in combination with the SiC and perhaps Sapphire

@Hogni I've tried the sapphire halo dish with retaining nut on my china ti+quartz hybrid base. The nut did not thread on the base, and the nut that came with the ti-quartz hybrid nail fit, but didn't thread down all the way so there was a gap in the nut and the dish which allowed oil to leak down and make a mess on the halo.

Now I got it..thx a lot!

Does anybody know how the SiC is compared to the Sublimator ENail?

The Sublimator enail is a Ti dabbing surface. I've heard talk of quartz or sapphire surfaces, but no ones seen them yet. I have a Sublimator Apollo. It rips flower, but it's fairly weak on concentrates for taste. I just built an enail to step up my concentrate game.

why should a chinese enail be worse than any other enail? Most of american units I saw are working with a chinese PID. And producing a coil seems to be no rocket science. There is a lot of chinese junk around for sure, but there a lot of chinese products which are well fabricated too.
I think I will buy a recommended chinese TC and coil and invest spared money in a well tasting nail.
Misleaded thoughts?

There are good Chinese controllers and Im sure the coils all come from China anyway. The nail I might be a little suspect over just because you dont know whats in the titanium but there are plenty of people using them. Several of my friends have the Auber unit and the Chinese nail and it works great for them. Id personally get the Auber unit and a Liger and call it a day.

I got a High5 enail recently and couldn't be happier. The amount of money I would have saved with a China source isn't worth it to me. I get piece of mind knowing I get support from this US company. I've bought electronics off dhgate and can't recommend them. They present to many risks to me. High5 and Auber are very affordable.

I'm living in Germany, support issues are the same to me. Living in the US pobably I would buy there a cheaper one (from China ;-)).
For prices in China there are TCs for enails unreasonable expensive. Its just a PID, a XLR-Connector and a cheap case (right, Brucee?). Parts perhaps for 25-30 $ if you buy them single on dhgate.

I used a nicer Omron E5CC PiD so my total cost ended up being around $100 with a coil and a quartz nail. I wish my SSR was a little quieter, but it was $5. It holds within 2 degrees at idle, depending on the AC. For my case I used a vintage Geiger counter that I picked up along the way. I broke the On/Off label part, but I'm planning a repaint and new labeling.

@Hogni I was more talking about the sublimator being a low quality enail for the price. There's nothing wrong with Chinese nails, but American ones have better designs/materials sometimes. Personally I use a Chinese nail.

brucee, your Geiger counter is really awesome!

weenstone, a few weeks ago I have tested the Sub. Really impressive performance but not processing.
I dont know for what they want so much money!?
For Flowers I would like to have the Apollo and the Atomizer. Base and electronic controller DIY-customized.
Thought about their enail too. After all it seems a regular Enail with a well tasting nail would be the better choice?

BTW aesthetically I prefer for the coil ss cable covers. Is there an objective reason for kevlar?

I am looking for a Ti machinist to create a Sublimator head that can fit an enail coil on it. Then I can use my PiD to control it.

Good luck. I went down this road a long time ago. Theres probably mention of it in this thread somewhere. I had no luck but maybe you will have better luck in your area.

the nut will not thread on anything but d-nail and he bases - if you can find a china version nail with its own retaining nut it might work as long as the threads are long enough for the height of the pretty tall sic dish

nothing wrong with a china coil/controller - i just wouldnt use a ti nail from china - saving cash on your pid to spend it on the nail is also the way I went when I got my auberins controller

+1

I bought a Dnail unit when my Chinese one started flaking out. I regret the decision and wish I had just bought another Chinese one. Id still be $200 ahead.

Thanks a lot for your replies!

Does nobody know the answer to my question above?

Sorry, precautionally here again:

I prefer for the coil ss cable covers. Is there an objective reason for kevlar?

And another question please:

D-Nail says about their SiC Halo: Uses ONLY D-NAiL® Flat Coil Heaters

I there an objective reason? Dont other (chinese) flat heater coils fit to the SiC Halo?

I dont believe so. If that still should be the reason, what is the size of the D-Nail flat heater coil?

Everywhere I'm reading the best about the SiC Halo. Perhaps I'll give it a chance to mate my future chinese units, maybe in combination with the Sapphire insert?

I love best flavour over all (aside the kick ;-)

Does anybody know the shop herbo?
Why do they can offer products from D-Nail for half the price??

The only thing slightly unique about the Dnail flat coil is the center hole is 10mm and some of the other flat coils have a smaller opening. You can definitely get aftermarket coils with a 10mm center hole tho.. I got one from VoltageKeeper.
