<----- vapes to get "even".

Wish there was a way I could take a hand-eye coordination / reaction time test (it is generally 3/4 of a second for young adults driving). I'd bet it would be consistent, depending upon how much I concentrate, fatigue level, importance, not how much I vaped - just my personal hypothesis based on 40 years of observation.

With that said, of course I never drive and vape. Just want everybody to be safe first. Plus, I need the THC break. :whoa:

Also, used some hemp fiber, long stem, old Milaana, much cooler, but may have overshot. I went back to short stem, all other variables same as above. I'm sipping smooth once again. Very, very, happy.

There are options, cool (pun intended)

I have another question for you all...
Your best stem and/or set up for Mi?

SSV whip mouthpiece pushed into a small length of herbalizer whip:

PVFS long stem:

"modified" (crushed) VXL ELB cap:

(this lets you create a little "dosing capsule"/basket module deal)

put it all together:

this mouthpiece mod provides excellent cooling, almost as good as a j-hook. I was pretty shocked at how well this worked. I think the key is simply the small opening. you just keep your lips clear of the hole (hehe) and it's almost completely cool. PVFS stem + basket module is cool too, but the mouthpiece is a bigger deal to me. I found the stock stem setup too harsh to use. oh and the basket with lid adds some conductive heat transfer which I like because I think it accelerates extraction

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
Where was it claimed they are now NOT hand made? That would be a very expensive and massive jump...

I have direct contact from Ryan saying the newer heaters ARE indeed tuned hotter... This is probably due to a couple of us early adopters ending up with overly cool units (or my soft sort). He has also given multiple answers concerning what glue he is using and patents ect ect...

Funny he told me the same thing about the HG2's ( a far superior battery to the he4 in my experience ) which im all for. My original HE4's are used as training wheels for noobs..

Factually incorrect....

I know what you mean, the point of no return for me is pretty much as soon as things start whitewalling.. things go white I back off, give it a few pulses and ride the inertia for a second. I usually lift and rotate stem mid hit to avoid scorching, the slight break in inhalation helps mi's heater recover. Ive been meaning to make a video at some point....

Hi there,

feel free to post detailed extracts of what Ryan told you. I too am in direct contact and asked him, if I can pass his infos to our community as I found them to be quite valuable. To not twist anything, I finally decided to paste his points as I'd received them. It's odd you brought up divergent statements for some points.
Maybe if @RastaBuddhaTao is around next time, he could try to help - yet I'd prefer him to take this time for building Zions. :)

About the heater, maybe he was talking about the initial beta batch? Like @Shit Snacks has one of the cooler pre-prod units? I got 3 mi and I really can't feel that they heat any different.

I walk the streets of Manhattan regularly, from Penn Station to Rockefeller Center (34 street to 51 street), and have Mila loaded and ready to go, no possible to hit it walking on a crowded NYC street. I've done it with Air, with some success, but Air hits weak outdoors. If I sat at a table on 42 street (Bryant Park) I could probably slip in a hit or two.

I hit the Mi while walking through the city all the time, my office is down in tribeca. I much prefer using it in public to my solo, which I have to hit constantly and it stinks up the whole block. With mi it's easy to take a quick huge hit.

Also, I agree with you about the short stem and have basically stopped using it entirely. Hurts my throat and makes me wheeze. So when I'm out there, I'm hitting the long stem. Looks ridiculous tbvh. I usually just wait for an empty space, I suppose those are few and far between in midtown though.

Wouldn't think of a Solo in public. I just got a pax2, smelly but invisible, better for heavy pedestrian traffic. Mi is great walking dog by my house on LI

Heat update... peeled all my screens off, stuffed with hemp fiber, then replaced, substantially cooler. Gotta be a super simple way to improve more.

But I like it!
So it was bound to happen - a broken stem. I only wish it was me that broke it... It, with the contents of my pockets, were on the sidecounter in the physio room. Went through a bunch of needling, some crunching, and then all done. Physio guy says 'Here's your stuff', grabbing vape and wallet to hand over. I hear a 'pop', Josh says 'oops', and my shortie stem is now 1/2 as short as it was, and a lot more jagged, and on the floor. Sigh... It was only a day old. When will it end? Please, think of the stems!

My best stem setup is short stem with a domed screen, about 1/3rd" in. I straw-fill from a small Jyarz of preground material, keep sucking while removing the stem from the Jyarz and tamp til herb is just even with the stem, and insert, and go. With just the smallest bit of fine tuning I'm finding this setup to be self-cleaning. With the Jyarz it's great, and only takes a millisecond to dump and refill. I doubt I'd refill a stem while driving, unless it's one of those quiet highway drives.

I'm in the camp of liking the small stems the best. I can get some unbelievable smooth thick hits. I can keep my heat right where I need it. I have been using a stem that's about medium in length and has a male to male ends on it with a colorful ball in the middle of it. Creates a nice little cooling effect with the vapor.
I can admit I don't get anywhere near the loads some report getting. I like to swap battery's after about 3 loads. I can get more I just love the way she runs on a fresh battery is all. I'm not the biggest fan of preheating. But I also ride my button a lot longer then most. It's just how I vape.

Great news Rbt.

Wow awesome news from RBT. Glad everything is going well and I'm loving the positive attitude. Good work!

time to focus on my current lineup, while waiting for Zina the future Zion.

Looks like our Zions will have the same name then lol. Fine with me if its fine with you! Been holding that name for months waiting for her haha. Since February actually!

By the way, if you haven't, looked up the word Zina, it's an Islamic Law. It's interesting!

Hello all!

I wanted to let everyone know that asked me, I contacted @Alan and he is happy to make custom Milaana stems!

Email response from @Alan:

I will be happy to take orders. Can get them worked into my tube turning time, so
there will still be a small wait. They just need to send me an email to
discuss the details. I really need to get my website updated with all
the latest tubes and options available. Would make things much easier.

So awesome news there for everyone!:D

I am using a different stem each day.
Yesterday I used the all wooden MP and the thing is a BEAST!!!

The big bore gives quite impressive draws and works with the guitar pic stem lock mod perfectly (although the wooden stem fits the Milaana so nice the stem lock is not even necessary!)!:)

The wood on wood looks and feels awesome. Same great taste awesome new look!!!

Well done @Alan, well done!

What's the current deal with PV? Have they fixed their CC processing issues yet? I want to get one of their stems once available. They look awesome. I hope they offer a GonG solution that uses those screens as well.

I'm talking to Alan about getting a couple of his stems. His work is always superb. I'm sure I won't receive them right away but his work is always worth the wait.

Tempted to jump on board for the Zion but I've been burned too many times before, I'll wait until I can "buy it now". Regardless, I'm glad things seem to be on track. It's nice to see that RBT has caught up with the Milaana and that he's done the right thing and handed CS and the store to someone well... more interested in interfacing with customers.

flotntoke

thoroughly vaped
Major concern I have for milaana is car use.

It's not a driver friendly vape...expelling of avb has left the carpet on the sides of my doors riddles with chunks

Its also a little more difficult to load on the go unless you have something to snuff preground material from.

Also the technique required does require some attention to work

RBT: FIX IT!!!

still haven't sent loose lipped millana back home...guess I should soon. I just have too much fun using it.

It would actually be better suited for travel, because of the faster heat up

I find it a very driver friendly vape. Odd, but maybe there isn't enough traffic around NYC? I have a small wide mouth amber jar that I keep my pre-ground in. Straw style suck it up load, enjoy 4, 5 maybe 6 or 7 tasty hits. Trick here is to not be too concerned about the perfect load. Just make sure you get enough in there, and try not to have any over the lip with an overfill. When done, tamp into top of doob-tube to knock out most ABV while still hot. Then drop window half way and give it a good blow to get rid of crumbs. Repeat if needed. Usually only done on traffic-y afternoon commute or if on wide open highway on weekends.

... Don't vape while you're driving man, I share the road with you, wherever you are.

I understand driving high isn't the same as driving drunk, but getting high while driving is a fuckin' careless distraction.

In other words, I gave the fuck up on the Zion and I'm gonna wait for the Mi now.

woooo, colour me excited.... :\

/s for those who don't get it.

I hope this thing surprises me, really do.

Different tolerances, different materials, different temps of vapor, etc, etc. Don't advise it for all, but pretty sure I drive better with a few light hits in me than most of the people I encounter during the day on the roads. Moms in SUV's (for some reason particularly expensive ones like BMW, Caddy, and such) on the phone, and young punks that think it is really worth going 80 just to get to that red light 1/4 mile up the road, and others of course.

Before you judge, let me say I was much more stoned (slitty, red eyes) for every session of driver'e ed in HS as it was right after lunch, and have been cautiously practicing for 35+ years since. The couple of accidents I've been in I was stone cold sober and unable to totally avoid idiots that ran into me - one from the rear while trapped at a light, and the other making a diagonal-ish left hand turn unannounced from her right hand lane right in front of me. FWIW, neither of them were intoxicated in the least - unless you consider general stupidity an intoxicant. What worries me most is getting pulled over at the wrong time - whether vaping or just having some in the car. Don't drive like a dick or look like a deadhead (whether you are or not), and know how to handle yourself around LEOs and you'll find all good!

little update on my Mi. I kept thinking that something must have come in contact with the heater to cause the burnt wax smell that suddenly showed up, so taking the advice of some of you good folks, I did more burnoffs, blowing into the intake with a straw to try to keep the heater within the operating temp range. turns out I previously had given up too soon because after a little while it stopped smelling. I just took it for a test drive and it's working fine. no bad taste or smell and cranking out vapor. happy times. this thing is robust, as I had hoped.

still don't know WTF caused the smell. I suppose something could have got past the filter when I changed it and just took a while to finally come into contact with the heater? or it could have been some assembly issue but I'm not sure what... I think I'm just going to carry on

Planet Vape New Milaana Stem review (PVFS)
cKCczl6.jpg

I ordered a back up Milaana on PV, and they were nice enough to offer me 2 PVFS stems to test. Basically, they are shorty stems (the tapered glass is short), one a bit shorter than the other, ending about a 1/4 inch from the oven screen floor. It's also got a basket screen with metal rim, but no worries, it is no where near the screen.

The extra clearance does keeps things a bit cooler, but I actually like the flavor on the stock stem, but with the Milaana, sometimes the flavor can be so much, it'll bite a bit. I find this to happen only on the very first hit or two. It must be the large volume that is extracted at first contact with heat, terpines, cbd's, thc, God knows, but it's a lot. Don't get this with the PV stems, ironically. This does help me not cough however, but I really feel my first cough with the stock stem is not heat, but shear volume with a certain muskyness, almost pollen like, that is not related to heat at all, but rather the contents of the vapor. I love this taste, hate that it needs to be modulated so I don't cough, but it is what it is... think ammonia. Not hot, just lots of vapor production really rapidly. PVFS knocks this down, good and bad.

Now on to rest of session beyond first hit, awesome. So first hit is much more like second hit with this stem, while stock stem changes more. Good thing. Definitely cooler as you need to hold button a bit longer to coax the vapor out.

The need to stir is reduced, as the distance allows more even heating. Sometimes I like to stir, sometimes not, great option.

It's a shorter stem when not inserted, easier to store.

Probably a bit harder to clean, maintain, but not by much (haven't cleaned yet). If used right, most stems seem to stay pretty clean, with just an occasional deep cleaning. The oven keeps the screen pretty clean for day to day, not sure that will happen here (extra distance).

The session last long, maybe a bit longer with same amount of material due to more even heating and great distance from oven.

I'm wrecked as I write this, testing, so effect is insane like all Milaana sessions.

PRO'S
  • Product efficient
  • Spreads taste out over session
  • Cooler, smoother vapor
  • Just the beginning for PV
CON'S
  • A bit more difficult to work with / Tougher to stir / Tougher to load / Must tamp so material is not loose
  • Removes some intuitiveness to the drawing / feather process, this may just be I'm not used to it yet, or the distance is like a barrier, not a big deal, just less feedback
  • A bit less full bodied signature Milaana taste (so far) (ironically)
OVERALL RATING
LOVE THIS STEM - 2 thumbs up!

Are you packing the screens?

I'd be using the standard RBT screen and capping it off with the dome screens. That's what I do with my LSV & EQ adapter. If you pack lose enough you can just easily shake it instead of stirring. It would also keep the inside of the Mi chamber spotless too as no crumbs would fall out.

I also find that capping it with the screens make the heat radiate from them and vapes a lot more even. At least that was my experience with the LSV and EQ.

* holy moley 500 posts already, i'm not known to be a talker but you guys sure get me too.

Love this forum.

Just so Dab HAppy!
This is my favorite dry stem to use...

I like it best of all my stems and use it daily. I have 3 JodaGlass stems that are all similar to the planetvape PVFS in that the joint is only about 18-20mm so it sits short of the heater screen. This allows for ELB's just like with the PVFS which I do agree allow for more even heating do to the conduction of the ELB screen walls. I find it cuts my load size/hits per load down by almost 50% if I use the ELB's and I find the taste a little more musky so I don't use them at all. I go RBT dome screen at the back of the joint so I can fill as much as possible. I get 7-8 big rips before I change out the load. I am awfully wasteful when I am on the go as I don't save my ABV and I often light temp vape it so even with the Milaana I sometimes find my ABV very very light so I could get more than 7-8 rips but by that point the flavor is not quite as good so I just toss it and start fresh.

I must say the two bent stems I got from JodaGlass do not get nearly as much use as I anticipated. I thought they would be great for the Milaana as they would help when using the Milaana vertically. I found that I typically use the Milaana with it horizontal rather than vertical so a straight stem works best. If I want to use the bent stems with the Milaana and keep it horizontal it is possible but it becomes somewhat awkward.

Happy freakin Friday, FC

We have been working like dogs, for the past 3 months, to fine tune the Milaana and to build up inventory levels to the point where we can ship orders out in 1-2 business days. Believe it or not, we've arrived. Huzzah! Can't thank you guys enough for your patience, support and suggestions on building a better Milaana.

Customer service is set and ready to go. Some of you have spoken or exchanged messages with Sheila. She'll be riding herd over CS. You guys are growing on her and now has an appreciation as to the role FC's membership has played in shaping the Milaana.
We've been working diligently to put in place the fixes recommended on FC. You can see what we've been up to by visiting http://www.rastabuddhatao.net/update

To better meet our customer's needs, we've expanded our product offering on RBT.com to include; colored glass, batteries and chargers. The charger will not only charge your batteries but it can also charge your phone. God bless America ! We'll be adding more product as we move forward. To thank FC members for their contribution, now until the end of the month, enter the coupon code, thanksfc , at checkout, and receive a 10% discount when ordering on RBT.com. If you have any issues, please get a hold of Sheila.

Now that we've dialed in the Milaana's performance, we still have many miles to go before we can call this " project" , a success. Our next challenge is to let the rest of the world know that this portable powerhouse exists. Our online partners are helping with promotion. We're educating and exposing retailers to the Milaana's potential. While we're gaining momentum, we can use more help. We're very appreciative of the business that's come from FC. Some of you have purchased several units, while I believe, bravesst, holds the current record which stands at 4. This support bolsters our belief that this is real and viable but unless we can get the word out to the others, outside of the forum, the future of the Milaana hangs in the balance. If I could only ask one more thing of the FC membership it would be; help us spread the word. Tell 10 people about the Milaana and what your experience has been. If you're in a head shop, ask them if they carry the Milaana. This will help ensure that the Milaana will grow into something we can all be proud to be a part of. Please consider my request.

Thanks again for all of your help and advice. To coin an overused phrase, "it couldn't have happened without you". Moving forward, these words still hold true.

Have a nice weekend.
