Discontinued The Grasshopper

We want to make sure we have back ups for the back up, far as vaporizers go. Don't want chances of going back to combustion in a pinch.

I've had vaporizers that I only used a few times because the taste and the vaporizer itself didn't appeal to me. I am curious about the GH and will eventually buy one.

I guess not the right thing to mention the ones you didnt like but I would like to suggest (if you dont have already) Solo (home or portable) E-Nano (home) Grasshopper (portable or home) all clean air paths, great vapor, extremely economical, that`s what I have after owning a piddley 13 or so, of course everyone`s to there own but it`s these three I have stayed and will be staying with for a while. The GH is the only one I have lashed out and bought for a while and that`s only because there has been so many good reviews and believe me I was lurking for a LOT longer then usual before I let loose the cash. I like so many are worried we will have a return down the track but until then RELAAAAAAAAXXXXXXXXX and enjoys it. Something to cool the Hoppers vapor is a must (like my setup lol) after two or three good tokes if you are not into water tools like myself, just straight old vapor.

I am still loving my SS GH. My back end does get hot intermittently....and seemingly most hot when I use my battery #3 (I have 4 batts). I do not notice rapid battery drain and I find battery life to be adequate for my needs. I literally got rid of all my other smoking/vaping devices. I love this thing. I do have a backup SS that I got from VapoShop which still sits new in box in my closet. I have had no warranty experiences (knock on wood) so can't comment about Hopper Labs service. I do still have my Ti preorder from early May 2016 which still says "ships August 2016". I'm not sure how Hopper can purport that they will ship my preorder next month when they are still shipping orders from 12 months ago. It seems that HL still aren't making much of an effort to provide accurate order lead times to customers. This is not a matter of "we are running behind ... be patient". HL cannot actually believe that they could ship my May 2016 order in August 2016....no way.

No matter .... still love the device. Complete game changer for me.

For me, at this point, if it's a choice between going back to combustion or going without, I go without.

Well, they know how many orders they have to fill and they have pretty decent idea of how many they can produce and ship in a month. Perhaps, just perhaps, the # of hoppers ordered in the second half of 2015 is small enough that they feel the current ship dates are still attainable. Since all we on the outside can do is assume (and we all know what happens when you do that), for now I choose to assume the best rather than the worst.

I really do not understand the criticism of this vape...if you dont like it, try others.

I have on Ti and an SS, a Mighty and a Pax2. The Grasshopper is without doubt the one I pick up nearly always...at home with a Bubbler or on the go, it works just great for me.

No doubt this is my favorite vape ever. I do, however, understand some of the criticisms....though perhaps much of the criticisms are unwarranted.

We puffers are a fickle bunch and if you haven't noticed....many of us are a bit OCD. The shipping delays, reports of multiple (and frequent) unit failures, and reports of strange GH behaviors (flashing lights, hot back end, charger issues) are prolific. Any time a working Hopper acts a bit strangely....the OCD consumer freaks out and questions the reliability of their Hopper. Warranted?...maybe...maybe not.

I use the Hopper natively. I usually take a puff or two and put it away until the desire strikes again. Batteries usually last me more than a day given my light (comparatively speaking) use. Aside from some intermittent heat near the clip...I"ve had zero reason to be concerned about my Hopper's reliability....aside of course from the constant reports of Hopper failures.

There simply is not another vape that does what the GH does....does it this well...and does it in this fantastic form factor and build quality. Had Hopper worked the bugs out prior to manufacture and shipment....I'd say that Pax would be relegated to the same now defunct category with the typewriter. The GH is this good. Unfortunately the criticism is imo being magnified by posters with problem devices. Our OCD natures (no offense intended) then tend to make some folks forget the trees while in the midst of the forest.

Just the fact that you choose to vaporize over combustion means an individual is more "particular" in the likes, needs and wants departments which can translate into a little bit (and sometimes a LOT of) compulsive thinking and behavior.

Staying on topic...I really like my GH, but I don't "love" it enough. It has my respect though and is my current choice for portable needs.

New to the GH questions. I looked back on pages but I didn't notice, how many uses until it needs a recharge. Thanks for the help and understanding!

I love the performance of my GH but the above are, in my opinion, real issues that don't require anyone to be fussy, fickle, or OCD in order to criticize. Sorry, but to me these are facts and the source of these problems lies squarely with the company who ain't talking and they should.

In my view their issues are reliability, production and supplier management, testing (or lack thereof), and woeful customer communications.

Plain and simple to me.

How's your battery life been with that warm backend?
Hard to say exactly at this point. I'll start keeping more accurate records but I believe I finished the 3rd bowl(this last one was very small) last night with the same battery with it giving me lots of blue flash warning that the battery is about to die.

My backends get very hot. I probably get 3 sessions per battery. This is running it on 5 and extracting the shit out of it (8-10 draws?).

As someone who has never been a smoker, I'm surprised that I can actually run the GH on 5 and not kill myself. I do occasionally go on a small coughing jag but it hasn't been nearly as bad as I feared it would be. Certainly not like the Pinnacle Pro.

What are the experiences using the hopper with hashish? Sandwiching it between herbs?
I used to vape mediocre hash in my Verdamper, using a nutmeg grater to turn it into a coarse powder. Not too fine though, so it doesn't clog up the screen. As the Verdamper and the GH are quite similar in that they both can produce endless amounts of really hot air as long as you toke, it "should" work with the GH too. Can't be too resinous I'd say, wouldn't want to try and clean the mouthpiece screen fom chunks of resin

I imagine that this nice mini VapeXhale Hydratube-clone or this one could be a nice watertool for the gh!?
Any 14 mm female piece of glass works with the silicone mouthpiece. A little teflon tape on the mouthpiece instead of the silicone thingy will make it even hands-free. Theres also like 1/2'' silicone tubing around, in vape and shisha shops. Looks better than the teflon tape imo.

Last Thursday back home was showing a friend and he was getting ready to order one when the disco lights of doom started their dance. Next day my extra batteries + sleeve arrived from the US (one week, not bad, even at 25 USD shipping as I did not have to pay import or tax). Tried two of the batteries - no go. So I contacted Verdampfnochmal about warranty.
Have you fully charged all your batteries prior to first use?

I hope you don't need the verdampftnochmal warranty, but in case you do, I'm curious how thats working out. I bought mine there too. Mind keeping us updated?

How's your battery life been with that warm backend?
Mine gets warmer at times, much less than the mouthpiece, but noticeable, but it doesn't change the working time. it's always like 2 and a half for me. I could do three if I was sober and shut it off earlier, using the residual heat by not letting it cool off. But thats not me, so I have a spare battery and an extra charger.

Hey all!

I know we have a warranty thread, but I wanted to share some FLIR (thermal image) shots of my Grasshopper.

I've been having issues with a hot backend (most notable when the battery was almost dead). The heat was intense around the clip on the backend, nearly burning my fingers during the hit! So I opened a warranty request and explained the problem. They shipped me a replacement backend without shipping them the hopper in for repairs.

I now have my replacement backend and boy what a difference it makes! Yes it gets a "little" warm, but it does NOT get burning hot like the other one did. I also notice my battery life seems to have improved, and I no longer see flickering blue lights during the draw (unless the battery is VERY low).

Before I ship back the defective hot backend, I decided to do some testing. I used batteries which were 50% drained (to generate the most heat possible from the backend), set the hopper to max temp (5), and performed a 20 second draw through a bubbler.

Here are the results of my testings.......

HOT Backend:

Note the intense heat around the clip - you can clearly see the + symbol!

Now here's the new back-end:

Wow! Look at that, no visible heat on the backend!

Nice testing there , I wonder why that heat was being generated and I hope they learn from this and everyone gets a cool back end.

Ti Hopper has arrived! Immediately loaded chamber with some primo pipe tobacco - ready for action at temp 5 in 5 seconds flat... taste was fabulous. I chugged on it like a freight train for about 20-30 seconds then switched off. Yes, front and back end got hot, but cooled down quickly for several very tasty follow up sessions. Don't know yet if I should file a heat ticket due to the hot back end. Will continue to explore with the other batteries and charging system supplied. So far so good but for the questionably hot back end. Gorgeous quality build.

I ordered battery caps from Delta 3D studios and they are way too big for my hopper batteries. I assume I received caps for different batteries. Other people have bought them and they fit right?

On a different topic... Why do they tell some ppl to send back their whole unit but others only send /receive just one part?

They fit perf...perhaps u ordered the general battery caps....he sells both.

I would assume if peeps email something like, "oh my gawd my hopper is freaking out I don't know what to do help!!!" They will ask u to send unit back to diagnose prob....otherwise if peeps email clear issues like, "my back end is way hot or I have disco death lights" they will send appropriate part and avoid diagnosing...make sense? Just a guess...:)

I'm in exactly the same position and feel exactly the same way. Functioning great but very uncomfortable to hold. Back end almost as hot as front end. Have to put a warranty claim in soon.

Perhaps I should have qualified with some of the criticism...nice answer and your usage is almost identical to mine...hits when I want them, very discretely...

I have had the Ti for five months. I understand the issues but jumped in anyway when Vapefiend first had stock...I have had one claim in 5 months and HopperLabs/Grasshopper dealt with it efficiently and correctly. The company must've learning from the failures and stand firmly behind the product. I have not heard of anybody's Hopper being declined warranty, although there must be some cases of misuse etc

I bought a spare because I am fully aware of the potential issues, I'm lucky I can. I understand the frustrated wait for many but we have all had the change to buy from resellers if www anted. I am sure eventually all pre orders will be fulfilled.

Me... I haven't combusted in two years, and got my first vape 18 months ago...I'm just glad we can all enjoy the likes of Gh, mighty/crafty, etc
