MiniVAP Vaporizer

This vape looks awesome. Only downfall could be the heat up time.
Heat up time for me is not a big factor in most situations, but I admit there are times when instant or near instant gratification is required, typically when on-the-go, then I'll grab my Grasshopper or Crafty, but for around the house or in the yard relaxing with no cares in the world, the MV is always King.

Michel! Good to hear from you again!

Thanks very much for the update. I'm quite certain I would pair a MV with glass and/or water, although I would also be interested in trying dry a longer whip than the stock one.

I appreciate the link to the reputable reseller. I'll take a look and let you know what I decide in the coming weeks. I'll also contact Hermes - the last time I did around a year ago, they intimated that they would be happy to offer me a 20% discount voucher code when I decide to proceed with the purchase. I'm hoping the offer still stands!
Lol me too

@JJ Cool F , if you like dry hits (no water) then you might want to try an @Oregonglassblower long mouthpiece. Very very tastey hits and the length gives the vapor a chance to cool before it reaches you.
mV%20Oregon%20mpiece.jpg

He can customize the length, bend, mouthpiece flare etc

EDIT: @Smknbud , same here as the warmup time is usually not a problem. I just timed it to plurple level (temp 2 of 4) and it was exactly 5 minutes. Just plan ahead and I turn it on BEFORE prepping my bud, getting a cold drink, microwaving some water for the hydratube, etc.
Then it is ready to roll :)
Like you, if I'm in a hurry there is a fast sub, my Herbalizer where the whole session can be done in 40 seconds.....

Honestly, it kind of annoys me there is ZERO vaporizer that competes with this one in 2016.

It came out in 2010 (well this thread started then anyway), and there still isn't something better? I want the grasshopper or something else, but there is no point when it won't beat this in performance.

I think the only thing I may get is the decarb kit at this point and just fresh pieces internally.

Kind of also want to send mine in for maintenace/review just to make sure it's function 100% perfectly and get another teflon core in the meantime with the new price drops. Not sure if I need a glass core or not with the decarb kit.

Decathlon kit is only formteflon core and it is about equal to the glass core.. I like the glass and Teflon both but the glass runs hotter with bigger clouds and I like the taste but it's all subjective..I think most prefer the Teflon taste.

Ya, I more meant like, if I have the decarb kit, I shouldn't need the glass core right?

But I still want the glass core now because well, bigger clouds and I might like that one better. Also it's not like having multiple cores would hurt me.

I'm just surprised that the grasshopper, and other vapes still don't beat out this one and they're new.

Do you think they'll upgrade/release an all new minivap design?

I am considering this or Herbie. I like how the temp is more controllable over a wider range with the herbie. But I also like the former factor and build on the mini. Which has the best flavor? Thanks

@cpk ,

for the best flavor, I would have to go with.....the miniVAP BUT it's like asking if a top model Ferrari or Maserati is best.
It is a close close call as both give superb flavor. With the stock Herbie whip or bags, the taste advantage of the MV was just a tab bigger. However, I rigged up my Herbie with the miniVAP Flexicone modules so I can use directly with a hydratube or the OGB glass mouthpice. IMO, that nudged the Herbie flavor up a little so now it is very close to miniVAP-land.

Pic of Herbie with Flexicone assembled and Flexicone module in pieces. Hydratube can go directly onto Flexicone or a couple other ways.
Herbie%20mV%20VXL.jpg

I include a thin layer of degummed hemp fiber to catch cannabis dust in my miniVAP and Herbie, much thinner layer than in this pic.
P.S. the Flexicone modules are pure genius--- I love them and try to customize them to use in all my vapes :)

Well at first I thought the exact temp control of the Herbie would be a giant plus but after longterm use, the miniVAP gets the job done admirably with only 4 temp selections. The MV 4 choices cover a wide range and thankfully both max at 445 F which I like for night-time/ bedtime use ( vs say my Mighty with a 410 F max but exact temp control).

Would I like a minVAP with 6 temp choices or exact temp control? I would but after real world use and experimenting, the current MV temps do work fine.

I find it odd the minivap is being discontinued and not restocked on almost every retail sites. Literally been rejected every time I ask about a restock. If this vape is so awesome , how come its not even available? Thats wierd imo need to dig deeper. Are the units shipping out defective and retailers are saying hell no ????

Any reason you can't post it here? I guess because you're a vendor? I mean this is mindboggling to me that this vaporizer isn't pushed more. I just don't get it. This vaporizer is amazing and not stocked or talked about or known ANYWHERE! Also is minivap working on something new? I really want to know lol.

Also, how much does maintenance/warranty cost? I want to send mine back. It's probably fine, but I feel like it's not as much vapor production as it used to.

Also, any sales on the Glass Core by itself? I would want this first before sending my core back (Obviously, I'm not living without this vaporizer).

I had seen his question in the pm first, so I answered it there, but it was the same question word for word, so here goes:

You're running into a bunch of bs sites. There are several out there that list the MV and have no stock and don't intend to. But if you buy one from them they will come to me asking if I can fulfill it for them, and they don't even know what they cost. It's ridiculous. I bailed one out once and have no intention of doing it again. All these sites do is hurt the brand. I'd prefer they take the product off their sites completely rather than confuse people.

What is true is several years ago they were listed on a few sites for well over $700...sometimes up to $900, because that's what the price needed to be to build in margins for retailers. Then one of the sites started dumping them and destroyed the price margin for everyone. At the same time the company supplying the heaters to MV was sending them bad heaters and they started having multiple failures.

MV recalled stock and rebuilt the units with good heaters, but didn't roll them out to the same retailers. Some of them didn't want them anymore due to the failures, and some were not welcome due to their pricing irregularities.

That's when I stepped in about a year and a half ago. They had a great product that had taken a beating, and they were climbing out of the pit. They needed someone over here to sell them and repair them...someone who didn't need huge margins. And I wanted to see the unit carry on because of how good it was. So during that time I have been selling them myself to forum members only, because I am too small to have much of a marketing budget for the MV.

Since then I have had about five different retailers approach me to carry them, but they are too big for what the company wants to do right now. At the moment, the MV can be found on a handful of smaller European sites and through me over here and that's it.

So what you have is a small company that got beat up by the big boys and wants to redo it organically and not get screwed. That fits my business model just fine, but not many others.

I perform the warranty work, but I don't know what Hermes charges. You will have to direct that question to them.

You can buy just the glass core, I believe they are $259.

Yup after adding it all up, might as well just get the whole unit.
Is the Delrin Adapter 14MM only or is there a 18mm version? would a simple adapter work for the

Gonna buy the MiniVap to go along with my herbalizer. What should I buy along side to get the best experience from this vape. Glass core or teflon? Adapters, baskets, hooks??? So many things pleaseeee vape gods teach a fellow about this vape

I really enjoy the glass core more than teflon but i really enjoy the teflon as well. This is a very versatile vape as you can get it with the battery or you can get the ac puck..i like using it plugged up to the puck as it heats up faster and stays more stable. Imo the delrin water pipe adapter is a must as well as the baskets and flexicones..others i believe us it with a jhook for dry hits. I really like mine thru water but like i said its very versate so a lot of ways to use it.

So can get both the glass core and teflon core and switch between them? Or do you need to send it in to get it changed? And when you order a minivap does it already come with a teflon core or is that bought separate?

What's your budget?

I recommend the delrin adapter as said above for sure. If you get the teflon core, I recommend getting the decarb kit. I'd go with something like what I posted above earlier for a glass mouthpiece. Then the hydrabase for use as a bong if you want to use it like that. Then a dedicated bong.

All depends on your budget. All I'm saying is I wish I had gotten more the first time around. But like subway said, there are so many ways to use it. While I'm sure I'll use the delrin adapter when I get it, the flexicone tubes fit directly into the 14mm male openings on pieces which is highly convenient for smoking. If I can find a way to securely attach my minivap to pieces, I'd definitely want to try it with the ccg dcycler.

So lots of ways to use this piece, I just recommend getting the attachments so you can be flexible with what pieces you can use.

So mainly the delrin adapter and the 14mm glass adapter. then just experiment and figure out how you want to use your piece and go from there with the glass.

Edit: The core is sold separately and attaches to the battery. So if you want the glass core you can buy one, it just costs $260. Then you can swap them out.

so 499 plus 260 to have both glass core nd teflon? Better get the saving. Is it worth having both? Seems as if ima just buy everything. I got the vaping cravings. And this vape is next on my list ;) I just hope everything is sorted with the defective units and such.

I have both cores and its probably not necessary..you can get the teflon core and get the decarb kit and that will make the teflon have a little more conduction to it ala the glass core. Contact @stickstones and he is the u.s. point man for hermes unless u are in europe. He can sort out issues and even do repairs. I feel 100 percent confident in him and my minivap..q

The Teflon core is flavor king and still can hit really hard.
Like @subway13029 said, you can almost make the Teflon core hit like a glass (decarb kit adds conduction) BUT you cannot make the glass core give that ultimate taste of the Teflon.
I have never said to myself, I wish I had more punch or I need more punch like the glass---been 100% satisfid with Teflon core

I'd suggest Teflon core unit + battery power/charger + AC adapter puck, as a bare minimum. Then you have an ultimate desktop AND an ultimate portable with longest battery life out there (although not stealth sized).
Extra baskets + rimmed screens + Flexicones , on top of what you get with battery miniVAP kit.

?? Does new Delrin adapter still snap onto the mV cover's nipple OR does it now grab the outer cover perimeter or ??
I have the original Delrin adapter and prefer using the @Ratchett Delta 3D Studio silicone adapter.

Add a nice glass long mouthpiece from @Oregonglassblower --can customize the length, bend, mouthpiece style.

Cheapo Chinese hydratube and small bubbler with minimal diffusion,

And you are ready to rock.
