Was a to dinner with Mrs. DDave when this gem started playing. Was a nice place, playing some newer music. Nothing like this, that's for sure.

Wasn't really listening to any of the music at first, maybe it was the repetitive tune? Whatever, it caught my attention. Turned and looked at the wifey. She looked back and said wipe that look off your face and don't start bobbing your head to the beat or I'll divorce you.

They were great with acid too. I saw them once in the *cough* 80s. Gibby was setting shit on fire, there were blaring police sirens on top of their huge monitors, and a naked woman dancing on stage. Behind them were two screens-- one showing reruns of Charlie's Angels, and the other showing medical surgical films, in reverse.

Are their any bands that intense that tour nowadays?

That was pretty standard for them in the 80s! That dancer was named Kathleen. She was pretty weird. I didn't mind the surgery films till they developed a habit of showing penis skin graft scenes. Really enhanced your average live version of Gary Floyd. :lol:

Fucking-A right! Ween! I agree they are underrated. I believe their musical talent can be overshadowed by their weirdness and humor. I honestly think they are some of the most talented musicians, especially considering how effortlessly they slipped between genres.

Sorta funny/weird story: In 07 or 08 I saw Jay Reatard in deep ellum, my buddy ended up FURIOUS at Jay because he ended up making out with my buddies ex-girlfriend. My friend tried to fight him at the show and was kicked out immediately, got pissed because I didn't leave too! I never got the low down on what went on between Laura and Jay but she was the one who told me of his passing ~1.5 or so years afterwards.

I'm in a new wave and post punk funk currently.

Believe you got it pegged when you said their talent can be overshadowed by their weirdness. Weens a very polarizing band, you're either down (brown?) or probably not that cool. :rofl:
