I'm looking to get a new setup, but the stumpy RDA I was going to get is currently out of stock on fasttech. Are there any other good 2 post RDAs people recommend? I'm also trying to decide on which TC mod to get. I want it to be as low profile as possible, but I also need temp control and regulation. Thinking of the IPV D3 or the istick pico. Istick has a bad rep, so I'm hesitant to go for them, but the pico looks nice. I've also considered going for an even smaller mod like the volt mini.

I'm also interested in hearing other peoples opinions about using oil in the super low profile RDAs. My plan is to get 5 or 6 RDAs that I can preload and fit in my pocket so I don't have to bother with reloading when I'm out. I should also not I'm only using this for oil, so I don't need the extra battery power for ejuice.

i would suggest an Evic Vtc mini. i have one and absolutely love it. also i have the stumpy and use this setup for oil 99% of the time. its a great combo, but im starting to seek more space between the posts for dif builds. small RDAs produce the best flavor... or so "they" say. my stumpy provides great flavor. oh and btw... check out "3FVape" for a stumpy. i think they have them in stock and i much prefer 3FV over fasttech.

still use and like my aeronaut and evil monk rda. always looking for something new to try but never really see anything. i really need a taller cap for my evil monk, mine is too low, not enough room for bigger coils i want to try.

just saw these, interested in trying them out. maybe with a quartz rod as a wick type deal - http://www.lightningvapes.com/collections/wire/products/ijoy-tss-coil-3-5mm-10pcs-for-tornado-rta

i am also looking for two post RDAs with more space. have been eyeing up the aeronaught myself. may have to give one a shot.

and yes i have also been checking out those slit coils on LV. they also have a 3.5mm version. its a pack of ten for like $7. instead of a wick however i was going to get some SS wire and put a clapton coil inside of one of these. let the clapton act as the wick, but it wil also vape instead of just wick/hold oil. wickless is the way to go IMO.

Does anybody know anyone with fc2000 wicks in stock for a good price even a book supplier overseas but vapesupplyme has disappeared and their eBay account is filled with negative feedback they had five packs for $11.99 shipped. Kidney puncher is out. Can anyone give me some Direction otherwise I'm going to mess around rap in the black w9tech 1701 ceramic donut

ok so i ordered a Uwell rafael X rda because the middle post is actually a nuetral post and can be removed. the positive post can also be removed, but that would be for cleaning it. anyway with the middel post gone there is PLENTY of space between the posts for any kind of crazy shit. when it gets here next week i will post pics of it and my current build. i also ordered some SS wire from lightning vapes. compared to Ti wire its dirt cheap. so im gonna give SS wire a go and see whats up. 100 feet for less than $4.

pics coming

oh wow, that uwell rda looks awesome if you can remove that middle post, great find. uwell makes good quality stuff too. gonna pick one up on friday when i get paid.

check out the pics that myvaporstore has on it. they show a pic of the nuetral post removed. lots of space. btw... if its a nuetral post... couldnt the coil sit right on it and wouldnt affect it at all?

http://www.myvaporstore.com/Uwell-Rafale-X-Rebuildable-Atomizer-p/uwr30.htm

i was also looking into the "goon" rda. it uses the clamp style connections and both "posts" can be removed. i was going to get the goon and take the posts out, trim them down to a single screw on each side opening up the middle. that would make for a huge build area, but then i have to hack it up myself. not that i have any problems doing that, but thought if the Uwell rda works out then im stoked. i may still get a goon clone to play with as well. oh and i like the idea of the "anti spatter" drip tip on the Uwell.

i watched a few videos on both of them.

i really like the rafale x, its pretty much perfect for what we want. im excited to get one and build on it. i might buy 2 just to have a backup ready to go.

the goon is really nice, i love the clamping plates on them. but if you were to cut it down to open up the build area, you would give that feature up. how would you attach the leads securely if you trimmed that extra screw off?

the build area on the goon is still pretty large, i might get one later to mess around with. maybe even try a dual coil setup.

at this point, im not even looking at my evil monk or aeronaut anymore haha. oh well, they were clones and cheap enough.

well i would use the remaining screws heads to hold the leads if i removed the two inner screws on the Goon. i used to do this when the RDA i was using did not have large enough holes in the posts for the leads. anyway, it would creat an awesome RDA and im def going to get one. what i can already tell about the Rafale X is that the drip tip is too large to just throw an oring on and use it with glass. which i have become accustomed to. anyway... i got my Rafale X today and took some pics of me removing the neutral post.

so here is the RDA all put together
hUFqhMZ.jpg

here it is in stock form
hTU4S32.jpg

to remove the neutral post and positive post you unscrew the 510 connection from the bottom
hc8mvwv.jpg

then the neutral and pos post come out like this
XgkYWIJ.jpg

to remove the neutral post from the pos post you take the small screwdriver they provide and unscrew it like this
hp1gX0K.jpg

they come apart like this
o6gKrB3.jpg

then you simply snap the pos post back into its spot and replace the 510 contact in the bottom
W6Nv9rX.jpg

and i realized when putting the pos post back in that it does not have to be in the same position it came stock. if for any reason you would like the pos and neg posts near one another on the same side then reinstall the pos post like this.
N2Epg64.jpg

so yeah thats the Rafale X. like i said im not huge fan of the drip tip due to it being too large for a 19mm gong joint, but we will see. the anti spit back feature may be nice. nothing worse than loading too much at once and getting hot errl all on yer teeth.. lol. anyway as you can see there is a gang of real estate on this deck for whatever crazy shit you can come up with. ill be doing a SS build on this RDA this weekend. will take pics of the coil build and post them when its done.

so i did get my SS wire in and built a vertibraid coil wrapped around a solid contact coil. mounted her up on the new Rafale X rda and fired it. turns out SS builds need to be spaced or non-contact for them to work properly temp control wise. so when i fired it in SS mode the display showed it never getting to the set temp and it eventually got red hot. so basically i need to go back to Ti wire.

sucks because the build looked great and mounted really well in the Rafale X. oh well i re-do it and post the Ti version.

so unfortunately when i did the Ti build i didnt snap pics, but i think the pics below will tell you everything you need no know if interested. when i ordered the Rafale X rda i also copped one of those coil masters jigs. works very well for making the inner core coils nice and tight, for wrapping the loose clapton, and then use the coil master rod for mounting into the rda. i used the 3mm rod for this build for both the inner core coil and the loose clapton. the loose clapton sprung back and provided a nice space for oil to hide. you can see in one of the pics below that the inner core and outer coil are separated. and when you load a dab and watch it warm on the coil you can see that void getting filled up by warm oil. and because i have never had an rda with this much room to work with i have never made one this large. this coil can def give you a "dab" like experience. i loaded it well on the first rip to "prime" the coil and it knocked me on my ass. i was coughing so long haha. fuck. anyway on with the pics.

again here is the rda... Rafale X by Uwell
hUFqhMZ.jpg

for whatever reason in this pic the wire looks dull and sorta dirty still, but i assure you i cleaned the shit out of it. here you can see the "loose clapton" wrapped on top of the 3mm contact coil.
olUedXI.jpg

in this pic you can see the space between the inner and outer coil. and how to splice the inner and outer coils together. one side turned out nicer than the other. heh :science:
w3SS7FV.jpg

this one shows the coil after a couple of dabs. seen through the cap with the drip tip removed.
HIn2ZVm.jpg

this coils weighs in at .28ohms and holds a hefty dab. much larger than i normally use at once, but great for a party. also using smaller amounts seems to work fine. this is the first coil i have built that i would deem worthy of the term "one hitter quitter". with temp control this coil provides a very good dabbing experience. i am going through my stash a bit faster because i cant put it down. titanium, wickless, and temp control. oh and after about a .75 g of oil there is not a spec of oil on the deck. this coil doesnt lose your dab it just vapes it. ive got some POM replacement drip tips coming from slowtech and plan on modding one to act as a male gong connection.

FWIW i am running this coil/rda setup on a Joyetech Evic VTwo mini. 380deg F, 35 watts, .28ohms.

What gauge ti wire are you using @2clicker ? Nice looking build. I will give it a go.

its 26 gauge Ti from lightning vapes. to achieve the "loose clapton" i took a really small drill bit and held it against the "feed" wire when making the clapton. you know where your fingers pinch the wire while it wraps on the drill? well pinch a small drill bit on the inside of the wire being wrapped right at where it meets the inside wire. this way as the wire wraps onto the inside wire the drill bit acts as a guide and provides a uniform spacing throughout. these spaces just give the coil a larger dab capcity. thinking about trying a "loose fused clapton" next. i see that many of the ecig guys love the fused clapton for its wicking capabilities.

oh and i have not noticed much of a flavor loss, if at all, since going with a larger rda. i thought for sure id notice a difference, but i have not. really liking this Rafale X. its a great platform to build on. i didnt like that it has limited air flow options, but have really come to enjoy the light setting. its perfect. thinking about getting another already i like it so much. the machining is top notch. easily in par with any $60-80 dollar rda in terms of quality. $20 for such a nice and authentic rda with an acre to build on? yes please

I got my RafaleX and some new ti wire in and copied your design as best as I could @2clicker .

I think it came out a wrap shorter somehow on the clapton outer coil so it came in at .24 ohms but it works really well. The flavor so far is better than the Fc2000 wicks I think but I can definitely hold more oil in the fc2000 doughnut wicks/cup design for now.

With fc2000 wicks, the flavor does seem to drop off after a while so I am going to put this wickless design to the test.

I could not get the wraps to stay as tights as I wanted (like your picture above) but it's pretty close. I think I can hold more oil if I could get the coils a little tighter somehow?

I might try to heat up the wire with a lighter to take some spring out of it, on my next attempt.

I found that the 1/8" fc2000 wick rod fits perfectly inside the inner coil and can be inserted and removed from the side without messing with the coils. This solves my capacity and the run off issues.

Pull the wick out, torch it, reinstall when loaded up.

Edit: After looking at the above picture again, on my build, the outer coil has a little more space between it and the inner coil. This may be adding to my capacity holding issue and function as well.

nice! stoked youre enjoying it. i suspect the runoff/capacity issue does indeed have to do with the space between coils. im well over 1.5 grams and nothing has hit the deck yet. there is some tiny splatter from when the wife overloads it, but no "runoff". even when the coils are spaced closer you may want it to hold more. i imagine just making a longer coil would remedy that.

regarding the springiness of the Ti... since my post i have found a great supplier for annealed grade 1 Ti. the shit comes clean and the springiness is zero. i got 50 feet for $11+ shipped. best Ti wire ive purchased yet.

I had a lead wiggle loose i think and it jumped into power mode @ 35w. It's amazing how much this wire moves around on a large build like this..

After that, one end of the small coil would start glowing before it was up to temp. :( I already tore it out and have not had much better luck getting the coils tighter.

I tend to overload after using the cups in the rose atty. I can literally fill the cup until it is bubbling oil out the top of the doughnut and I can hear it bubbling for the first 2 hits. This keeps my coil constantly soaked in oil usually. A dry coil always seems to make ti wire glow after a bit for me. Maybe i need to lower the watts and turn the temp up?

what are your settings?

my Ti never glows. well there was one time when i pinched the coil while firing and the leads started to glow and turned the Ti blue and green. clearly that was because i was manipulating it while firing. since then i never pinch. just build, mount, dry fire to ensure no hot spots, and run that shit.

I think I was at 35w @ 380f but it jumped into power mode when it glowed on me.

Normally I can dry fire it in temp mode with no glow. But once it has glowed from power mode, something about the wire changes and it gets weaker and it glows in that area of the wire.

yeah ive fallen victim to that as well. all that work to build the coil and... start over. ugh

ive got a goon RDA on the way. gonna mod the posts and see whats up. loving my Rafale X, but the large chuff style tip is bothering me a bit after more use. also i replaced the stock tip with a fasttech resin version. still has the anti-spatter feature and doesnt collect lip skin like the metal one does. so gross.

also i have been successfully cleaning my coils and reusing them. the loose clapton wrapped around a contact coil seems to be pretty rugged. in 26g anyway. i soak in iso, maybe hit them with a small brush, and the give them a PBW treatment. they come out almost perfect. then i do another iso soak and let air dry. about to purchase an ultrasonic cleaner to use PBW and iso in for cleaning everything really. should speed things up quite a bit. looking forward to having a new coil to install every week.

once the goon gets here and i trim the posts down to a single screw each i will build another coil and post pics. looking forward to the more adjustable airflow and reg drip tip. also that both posts can be completely removed from the deck for cleaning. pop them in the ultrasonic cleaner and they are done.

hey thanks. the coil in the pic is def better on one side. the other lead didnt turn out as well. haha. but since then ive built a couple more and the leads turn out great.

ive got an ultrasonic cleaner on the way. should be here tuesday. i plan on using this to clean a variety of vape related parts, but especially excited about cleaning coils. if built well these coils can last a damn long time. use one for a week or two, replace it with a clean one, and toss the gunked coil into the cleaner.

planning on using PBW as well with this machine.

This is neat glad I found this forum. Just got a lostronaut rda in the mail today was thinking about throwing a 22G stovetop on it to test it out until I could make a fused Clapton to put on it.
