But glue here, not mentioned prevalantly.
And to that I say, WTF FC? How and why is this not being discussed in large volume?

Probably for the simple reason that this rule exists here:

If you have a question or comment regarding material safety, post it in General Discussion. Do not post it in a model thread.

So now that it has been mentioned here and is part of the thread history (for everyone to see), take it to the General Discussion thread if you want to discuss it further.

We are trying to help one another with something which I deem serious.
This would be the best place to discuss it to proactively help one another ( ummm community)

I can say on day 2 glue smell gone.

This is not the best place. The rule is that you discuss such things in a General Discussion thread.

the discussion is about the existence of glue, not its safety. no definitive answer yet

There has been much discussion of its safety.

I will remind both of you of this other rule we have:
  • Public discussions of staff decisions are not permitted on the site. If you have any concerns or queries relating to a staff decision please take it up in private with a staff member.
Take it somewhere else. Further discussion here will result in warning points.

My units have only ever smelled like wood. (and burnt wood)

I like the PV stem design. I'm guessing part of the reason those screens were discouraged is that they could potentially cause a short. The milaana heater can actually be touching the screen in the female glass, so if your bowl is touching that you could be running current through it too. At worst, this could cause a short. It could also cause more of a conduction effect instead of convection if the bowl itself is being heated.

But if the glass is ground down so that rim isn't touching the screen you're not really at risk of that happening.

Is it possible for anyone to get a picture of the heater screen setup? I know there were a couple people toying with breaking a non-working Mi down, if someone does, please give this area a look and consider throwing up some shots of the screen once it's apart.

@DocGonzo

I'll get some pictures for you this weekend. Basically theres a thick metals screen like the basket screens in the stems, with a much, much finer screen wrapped around it

The heater itself is pretty much a SS screen as well. "Patented hair dryer technology" But the heater's shape is very different than the basket screens.

I got my milaana today. I haven't tried it yet but it looks great. When I opened the box, the part that covers the battery compartment, screw and washers fell out. I know it's a simple assembly for most of you but could someone tell me the sequence of the 3 washers. I can see that one goes directly against the wood before anything else but do the other 2 go before the screw after the cover?

2 directly after the wood, then the copper thing another washer and then the screw...

I also made the "guitar pick mod" using a hard plastic from a juice bottle and shaped it so it could stop the batterie contact but also helps as a stir stick for the herb in stem... maybe I'll try to get some pictures if I didn't explained myself clearly

saludos.

I've managed to lose one of the washers already. My original didn't have the third washed so I didn't know what to do with it. I have it set up now with 2 washers like my first one.

Still haven't tried it but I've burning off the smell. So far the main difference I see is the heat. My original stays pretty cool and when it's been in use for a while the body heats a bit. The new one is much hotter. I compared the heat and the whole body and the copper part got pretty hot on the new one. I may need to use it for shorter periods of time and let it cool down in between.

So...this new unit is pretty intense through water.
Did one more stem (with the new battery this time) after my initial test, plus a bowl through water, and the extraction was very quick both times. Through the stem was great, heavy heat spikes compared to my old one, but it just makes for a different form of tapping the throttle.
It really shined through water. I got vapor in half the time, and on my second hit, i pulled at like 70% without over powering the heater. Had to actually still go easy on the throttle at high inhale speeds because of how strong it was. Pretty impressed with the heat, it's how I imagined it should've been from the start. I really like my old Milah though because the rise in temp was so slow and smooth. I'll probably use that one for training wheels, because it's just a hit and rip sort of vape, but this one is just significantly faster, and once tamed, Mina will prove better than Milah. She's already more impressive through water after one go.

Oh yeah! also. One stem and one bowl through water put my battery at 4.07. Much higher than my usual 4.0 after 2 bowls. Will need more testing. Possibly it's the new green battery, possibly it's the faster heater and less time on the throttle, only time will tell. Mostly curious at the differences between the yellow and green, and will take time to figure that out on the new unit.

Volute of Vapor
This morning was nice but I got a difficult choice to choose between the 3 vapes I'm actually testing: Apollo, Guru and Milaana......and I gone for the Apollo cause the Milaana made me cough like hell yesterday evening....sorry.

But it is waiting for me, ready, with a full battery and a long stem loaded with some tasty Northern Light. I must to use it more to find my rythm and timing to get a smoother vapor. This is my only complain actually...damn the vapor is harsh and hot, difficult for my throat!

About building quality I'm not puzzled like some others peoples, I was worry about that but my unit is perfectly smooth under my finger, I can't smell any glue, the battery compartment smell like wood that's all!
There is no finish on the wood but it's a matter of time to do it myself.

A question, I know the reply is in the thread but I can't spent lot of time on FC actually, I know there is no a true consensus about it but....Do you need to stir every 1-2 hits or is it possible to not stir at all?

My second session of the day just begin....with the Milaana (sorry but I don't use to give a nickname to things) and I got some tasty hits yet...but still a bit "agressive" for my throat, I need to refine my technique.

Pulling slower and keeping a medium warm temp will help with both the harshness and the stirring. It'll avoid hotspots and will vape throughout the bowl deeper in my experience. Also is MUCH easier on the throat. I pull very slow for that very reason, anything relatively fast and my throat is hurting, unless through water of course. Keep your draw slow and you'll be really surprised at how low you can keep your temp and still get vapor. Make sure you feel the warmth, and just pull for a solid 10 seconds or so and you should get vapor after the first hit or two. Tap the throttle as needed to keep that nice smooth warm temp. Find what's comfortable first and see how effective it is, and go from there.
Slow is key!

Caution, I find it's easier to combust when I pull too slow, so just make sure you are easy on the throttle at first.

I picked up and used my Milaana for 1 day. I have been a mighty daily heavy user since November 2014.

I also bought and sold a pax2 recently.
Didn't like it.
I got a retail unit at planetvape.ca. I am happy at the moment. First few attempts were not great. But managed a few good ones last night.
So far great backup and secondary manual vape ;)
I like that I have the options as far as power. Really riding the needle and flirting with combustion which I have done so far.

I tried many techniques and grinds. I found with stem in, preheat up to 5 seconds, let go and you can pull hard or soft. It almost wont combust if you draw right after releasing button.
Then I draw a bit. Button a bit. Feather etc.
Yes you can get tasty hits. Not near as dense as I can with mighty. So I'm glad I have both.

And I have a fairly strong glue smell!!! Seems to be going away now.

I find this vape is not super consistent as far as browning and charring. It does get every bit extracted out of herbs pushing to near combustion. I feel I won't be able to make edibles from my Milaana abv like I do with mighty.

Over all I am happy to have it.
I hope this glue smell is just cuz it's a recent manufacture.
Overall it looks good and has the screen air intake.

@PlanetVape did an awesome job with cs. They walked me through using it and battery stuff. Great guys and gals there. Love planetvape.ca.

Here's the milaana with the stock shorty and the planetvape.ca shorty which uses extreme q screens. Easy to preload pop in and out. Like theirs the best so far.

Heres the abv milaana on right mighty on left.
I will see what the milaana abv does through the mighty. Bet I'll get a puff.

All and all I am happy I bought it. Dont be surprised though even though the company is called rbt . It is a company and the cost compared to the retail price. They are marking it up large to me.

All di best

Without even trying , could have taken these stems further but cashed when tastes wanes. The ABV color is totally under my control, from light brown to a black char. You can see the result of ALL night, maybe 4 or 5 stems. Notice the variety of color. I was really careful to keep taste high and temp low, but occasionally things got a bit hot. Better technique will solve this. I was playing around with the new PV stems, threw me off a bit.

When a vaporizer company claims to have a versatile vaporizer what all should or would that include. The reason I'm asking this is because I've pretty much been able to run this Mi however, and whenever I want. The fact that I can grab a stem and take single hits whenever needed is sAAAweet. Then when I'm on the road(ahem......maybe a passenger who knows?????)I get that heat cranking and I'm getting a nice mixture of convection /conduction hits. I can even grab a nice wispy hit with a heat soaked mi with no button being pushed. I can't really think of a situation for myself personally that the mi can't cover. And the signature with these different style sessions change. The heat soaked mi definitely has stronger effects. IMO.
What I find a tiny bit amusing is that you'll have conduction style oven vaporizers that the makers try to jump through hoops saying it has a % of convection heating taking place. And now I'm doing the same in reverse. Although I never claimed to be the brightest vaporer.

I forgot about the little crack that my short stem came with.
I knocked my ABV out on a piece of wood, but the stem didn't like that :(.

I'm stemless now, so the sooner I can buy stems the better.
Gonna try Planetvape and @cannabis.pro now.
Contact rbt. He said he was going to warrant glass prices until July.

I had a short stem break, I emailed him and had another in a few days.

Pretty painless.

Yes! Finally someone says it! Both of my Zions and my Milaana arrived only with the smell of freshly hewn wood... Maybe a hint of copper... Oh yeah and MAGIC!

Since people are able to say their milaana came with a wood smell.
I will state a fact again with no malice intended or company bashing. Just fact.

My 3 day old milaana smelled of glue for the first day. It now does not.
This is what this site is for. Helping other users. Take care.

Since you know about our rule regarding company bashing, and admit that you are saying this again, let's have this be the last time unless you have something new to add or it will be considered bashing.

Man this is a restrictive environment. I have an activist mentality.
Am I allowed to say I don't like what the mods are saying. I think your going beyond your scope.

Are we under an authorotative filter here?

And I do not feel I broke your rule.

Nope. If you had read a few posts back, pakalolo addresses this.

Can you tell me which forum I can post in. You mentioned general discussion. Can you send me a link to it. I don't see one called "general discussion"
Thanks

Under general there's a few. Which would you like me to use for the GLUE topic.

Contact RBT as there is a Canada post strike that will halt you order. Glass breaks, eventually, I have 6.
