Yeah. Fill up your cheeks then suck it down. That's how I do it too. Sipping a straw!

It obviously won't just stay in your cheeks when sucking. But do it with that goal in mind.

Same here.. Slooow 6-8 second draw right into lungs with maybe a sip or two of fresh air as needed to sooth throat, followed by a big draw of fresh air to inflate lungs fully, hold 3-4 seconds, slow exhale. First session at 385* for ~5 hits, second session 30 minutes later at 405* for ~5 hits. Works like a champ for me.

How I use Optimus (my V5.0s :borg:) and get GREAT results:

Fill to the top with loose herbs, then tamp down into a solid chunk. Fill again and tamp again if going for a long time.

I skip the blue light, straight to purple. Wait 10 seconds after light stops flashing. Start a moderate draw, then slide open the air path, pull hard for about 10 seconds, slide the air path shut, then hold.

Every time it hits like a tank. I ramp up to red after about 5 or 6 hits and it goes for a WHILE.

I found that drawing before opening the air path makes for a harder hitting vapor. Not sure how else to explain it except after a hard-ish (and even not that hard) pull, then it gets stupid easy, it hits me faster.

Also, I use a wooden Ed's TNT mouthpiece (glass shattered at a concert :mad:) but I found the flavor from the dark wood enhanced the experience personally.

Also, I keep a screen in the bottom as well as both screens in the mouthpiece. Tried without the added mouthpiece screen and got a mouthfull of loose particulates but didn't feel much of a difference. No thanks lol.

Hi all,

I'm a fairly inactive FC member, but I'm making sure I'm more active in the coming weeks and months. I own a Flowermate V5.0s and use it on a daily basis due to its fantastic practicality. My sessions last large amounts of time amd I normally exclusively use the Blue and Purple temperature settings. I find the Red setting rather harsh and the taste rather nasty in comparison to the other settings. It's amazing to see how others use their devices.

Is this out of choice, is your FM still producing nice vapor on the Blue setting? I seem to find it takes a pull or two and then a re tamp to get the vapor flowing well on Blue.

@Squibler It does just fine at blue, but I appreciate efficient medicating :smug: It's just my preference.

I also have never noticed any harsh flavors moving towards red either, but I have heard many do. I enjoy a certain "smokiness" in terms of flavor, which is why I love the wooden mouth piece, so it could be I just enjoy that aspect, but it definitely never combusts.

@yogoshio Everyone has their own taste, and its nice to see the Flowermate providing different vaping experiences for different Folk. From my experiences I've seen two Flowermates fluctuate in temperature slightly on the same setting, some FM's seem to be slightly different. But saying this, this might be newer models being compared to older models. All I'm going off is comparison I've experienced in person with fellow Flowermate users.

Hi! I also own a Flowermate v.5.0s. when i got it i used it just like @yogoshio i skipped the blue but now i only vape in blue level because of its flavor and also because i find the high to be cleaner, meaning less strong body-high effect. I find it still produces very decent clouds in blue level.

@jupazo We get a strain that doesn't have the body high, so we don't worry about that. I have no idea about names/strains, so don't ask lol, but then we make blends with body high and use the body high to help sleep sometimes.

I've had my flowermate 5.0 for almost a week now and I fuckin love it! Before I had been using my vapor genie glass bat for my daily driver, but now that I got this my vg hasn't been in rotation as much. I still use it when I don't have a lot of time and just need to take a few big rips real quick , but when I have time for a full session I go for the flowermate. The flavor is so much better and last a lot longer, and it's nice not having to worry about accidental combustion. I had to adjust my draw strength a lot compared to my vg because it works with conduction instead of convection so you want your herb to stay packed down at the bottom of the chamber or it won't produce vapor. If you draw too hard , the herb get sucked up to the top and clogs up the mouthpiece. You don't want to pack it too tight though or you won't get any airflow . You also don't want to pack it too full either because that reduces airflow as well resulting in small ,frustrating unsatysfying hits.I like to use the purple setting for two heat cycles, and then stir it then crank it up to red to finish it off. I was thinking about getting a pax 2 before I got this, but now I don't see the point in spending the extra 190 .

Yeah, "dependable" is the word that comes to mind with these vapes. "Dependable: able to be trusted to do or provide what is needed".

They don't have the greatest taste around, but for conduction vapes they do pretty well, and the FM5-Pro is actually pretty good at low temperatures, not too far behind the Ascent. But these vapes are rock-solid, self-contained, easily pocketable, they have a great battery life, and they just work!

Maintainance is easy as long as you clean the mouthpiece every couple of months (or more often of course) They don't produce giant clouds but they are still able to service quite some generous vapor. They are dead simple to use and don't require much technique (well you have to slow your draw down, but most newbies usually manage to get some vapor easily)

While I have better vapes, I still use my FM5 often. My gf's original FM5 doesn't see much use, the single temperature is way too high and destroys the taste too fast. But the FM5-S is good and my favorite is still the FM5-Pro. When I have time for a long session, like when working in front of the computer, I enjoy doing the temperature stepping a lot, and having 15min, sometimes 20 or even 25 minutes sessions. I take small hits and enjoy the slow pace (I don't always need to medicate fast and hard like with convection vapes)

I like the Mini-Pro too but the battery is clearly its weakest point. I get 2 or 3 sessions at most and have been caught many times with the "battery low" warning while in the middle of a bowl. I recommend the Mini-S (3 temps) instead, for those wanting a very small footprint device and peace of mind with USB charging.

I also prefer my FM5's to all my pen style vapes (XMax V2, Herbstick Eco, FlowerMate VT1.0) as I find them tastier and the vapor is cooler thanks to the glass mouthpiece. (note: I don't have the newest XMax/Storm glass mouthpiece)

For me its about diminishing returns. Yes, I could spend 2.3x as much for a Pax2 or FF2, but from the videos I have seen, I wouldn't be getting 2x the clouds. Flavor? Perhaps, but I don't partake for flavor, I partake for fun. And even then, I don't know that the "premo" line of vapes the flavor would be 2x better.
I guess its the economics background taking over.:2c:

I am very happy with my FM Pro. It is a dependable, easy to operate, affordable, and functionally very good conduction vape. I don't regret the purchase for even a second. Good unit.

By the by, with the Pro of course you can set individual temps. So, I fill and tamp well until about 80% full and start at 365 for a couple/few draws for flavor then up to 385 for bulk of vaping, and finish off with 410-420 for last draw or so. I need to be careful as if I stay at 420 for longer than that some of the AVB comes out black and crunchy.

didn't mean above post but couldn't get rid of it. Anyway, I have a 5.0s and a mini with the three settings. My 5.0s is and has always been warmer on blue than the mini is even when the mini is on purple. Both function very well but are not that close on temps. Anyone else?

I may give my flowermate v1 flack for having shitty flavor, but it worked just as intended (and still does) until I upgraded to bamboo log vape so I can't fault it, it was a rock solid electronic that thankfully never malfunctioned. Effect and flavor is way better now with the log though. There are greener pastures and I'm glad I found some.

I never tried the updated flowermates, but I'd imagine taste is better on that unit than mine due to variable temps.

One other thing that could cause this vape not to hit is forgetting to make sure that the screen is in the chamber before you load it. I've done that shit a couple times already. The air holes at the bottom get clogged and won't hit worth a fuck. When this happens, the whole load pretty much gets wasted. I recommend ordering extra screens for the mouthpiece and the chamber because they are very easy to lose and are definitely a necessary for this vape.

I have a couple FM's myself. But I quickly realized spending the extra money for a real quality vape actually saves you money. For example I might have spent three times the money for my Crafty but I can use 1/4 the amount of herb to get the same effects. I go through a ton less herb with the Crafty than with the FM. When it comes to fllavour, high and extraction the FM can't complete with a lot of the more expensive vapes like Crafty, FF2, Grasshopper, etc.

So although I enjoyed my FM's in the beginning of my vape journey they do not hold a candle to some of the more expensive vapes and any extra money I spent was saved in herb. I keep them for my backup because like others said its very dependable but mine usually sits in a drawer collecting dust.

Just got the FM Mini Pro. I use a very small amount of herb to counteract restless leg syndrome to get to sleep so I prefer to pack a small bowl to deliver 4-5 hits. I have two questions:

1) I would like to use the metal herb can but it seems like I need a high temperature to get a decent hit. Is anyone using the can and, if so, at what temperature?

2) If I pack a medium bowl and use for multiple sessions, how can I know when the herb is done? Just wait until the effect is nil and re-pack?

The bullets require max temp and waiting a WHILE between hits to get anything from my experience.

Herb is done when its brown and there's no more vapor. I generally give re-tamp it down after I stop getting vapor, but only a few more hits are to be had when it gets to this point.

I always max out my herb though, leaving it dark brown and crunchy.

I'd advise against the pods with herb. You lose half the volume and add insulation (seems strange to think of it that way, but that's what it is) to the mix. OTOH, load some bubble hash in there, crank up the heat a bit and fasten your seatbelt.....fun ride ahead. The concentrate pods, OTOH, are a treat. Nice to have one loaded handy for a quick reload......

Eventually you'll probably learn to judge by taste and volume (provided you stick to the same strain since that plays a part as well) but at first inspecting the color is a better clue to 'doneness'. Green to Brown. But that happens first at the bottom of the FM bowl, you'll need to stir to see it fully?

I know it's not a good topic to bring up with a guy who just bought a new vape, but given your requirements you might consider the Summit instead? I have both, it's much better suited to the 'emergency grab a couple quick hits' duty. A friend, with similar needs, found it 'just the ticket' for bedside standby duty. Very simple to use once loaded. Press the big button, it buzzes to confirm and starts rapid heating. Well under a minute it buzzes 3 times to tell you it's ready to hit (and it is). It stays hot for like 90 seconds (enough for a few hits) before shutting down. The bowl has a large cover, is 'wider than deep' so it's easy to stir and inspect and it's held on by magnets.

FM makes a good session vape, aimed at 10 minutes or so and exhausting the load, not so Summit. Much closer to a 'one hitter' model. I've been carrying my Summit in my pants pocket for a few days now, enjoying the odd hit or two here and there in my travels. Lousy battey life compared to others, basically I recharge every time I clean and change loads so it won't run out before the next load is done. 8 heat levels available, four steps on the 'battery level meter'.

Enjoy your FM, it's a solid performer for sure.

Hey, fam. I am new to vaping, and just bought the FlowerMate Mini (not the Pro one). I noticed immediately out of the box a strong toxic chemically-type smell coming from the vape and glass mouthpiece. I rinsed the mouthpiece with isopropyl alcohol and did about 10 dry runs of the unit (with glass mouthpiece attached). There has not been any decrease in the toxic smell. Both yesterday and today, I took a very small breath of air from the mouthpiece (alone without unit attached), and my throat immediately became sore and mouth tasted like that chemical smell. This is so bizarre as it doesn't seem that anyone else has had this problem in all of the reviews I've read. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? I am really disappointed. Long story, but I really needed this vape to work, as I'm in a legal state this week and needed to try some high CBD weed for terrible chronic nerve pain.

1. Has anyone else noticed a ridiculously potent bleachy, clorine, toxic, burning plastic, toxic metal smell?
2. This is harmful, no?

First off, Howdy! Welcome to the fun, good folks about. You might want to consider going back a couple dozen pages and do some reading, good stuff there. Lots very useful to new folks. To your questions, my opinions are:

1. Smells by an assortment of descriptions, are a popular topic around here. Very subjective and some put stock in 'this one is worse than all the others'. I think it's safe to say most notice something, the traditional 'fix' is to do full blast burn ins (chamber empty, standing up and top temperature) cycle after cycle for a full charge or two.

I think it's safe to say that 'everyone' is eventually satisfied by this process (it's a pretty standard technique for such things.....) and come to be comfortable with their FM, which is of course the goal?

The popular campfire lore WRT the smell is the adhesive on the Kapton tape used in the oven. It's the only component known to 'out gas' (as the adhesive hardens). It seems there's a wide variation in how sensitive folks are to this, like 'carpet fumes' and so on needing more time to 'air out' for some than others?

2. No, not by conventional measures. "Food safe" and all that, not to worry. Worth avoiding if they bother you (you want to enjoy the vape......), but terms like "toxic" are not appropriate here IMO.

I hope you get it under control quickly, this model (the 3 level, non display fancy one) is my favorite of the lot, it sees the most use by far. IMO the 'battery meter' function (important for me) was disappointing and the display costs battery capacity.

BTW, lots of guys have their favorite mods (go figure.....). Let me get mine in first? I dome up a fine screen, tuck the edges into the lip on the bottom and press the dome flat to anchor it in with a gap below. Takes a very long time to foul and keeps the screens inside cleaner. In fact I then take the fine, removable one out since it's basically doing nothing but block vapor at that point? When it fouls, hook it out with a needle, hold it by the edge in 'metal fingers' and torch it until it glows.....brush it off and put it back in again. Under a minute tops if the tools are handy, and no solvents.
