CANNABIS & CANCER TRIAL

@Fat Freddy I am so sorry for what you going through and not being able to legally access this amazing and healing gift from Mother Nature.

I have a elderly relative that is doing her best dealing with multiple myeloma. She goes through so much suffering it breaks my heart. She is so tuff and doesn't complain much. To me, her best hope is treating with high doses of RSO or equivalent. Wish the human trials were being conducted, so we could know the best protocols. She is very open to an RSO type treatment, but is concerned about being high and unsteady. Falls are bad, here bones are brittle. She lives in a non legal state, but needs relief so bad, willing to put her health first.

Researched RSO extensively, but I would love to her of hear about anybody's personal experiences using cannabis in cancer treatments. What dosages, starting and treatment? Did it help cope with the effects of the cancer and radiation? What products or strains worked best? Any negative side affects? Did you see positive results in labs?

Hi ButterflySky,

I would look at an RSO that had a much different cannabinoid profile, as most of the RSO I've seen has been of the high THC variety.
From my experience (so far) a 2-1 or 1-1 CBD-THC ratio should help fight the cancer, help her brittle bones (there are some studies showing it helps build bone density and knits breaks quicker) and be far less psychoactive - the CBD will inhibit the THC to a degree, and with all the compounds present the 'entourage effect' is quite pronounced and welcome.

I'm not a fan of the traditional RSO, as without the right knowledge and equipment the likelyhood of the RSO being contaminated is fairly real (predicated on the flower, the solvents and processes used).

I've seen plenty of lab-tested SuperCritical CO2 process RSO, some with incredible lab tests (have to check if it's kosher to name brands)... as long as those machines were properly cleaned and calibrated regularly, you should be able to find a 'clean' RSO alternative that would also include the terpenes (and that could provide you with an opportunity for different strains for daytime, going out, night time, etc.)

As for starting dosages, that is a tremendously individual thing tied to the persons biochemistry, other health issues, amount of food in system, etc. I know one elderly individual who tried a good CBD oil, only about 5mg of CBD, didn't do anything, after about an hour, she tried another 5mg dose and about 30-40 minutes in said she didn't feel any pain (kind of amazing, since they had her on Dilaudid!!!), but then I think her brain took over with old Dragnet episodes and she described seeing things (she's heard plenty of the propaganda over the years!), so they stopped there. It could be an interaction with the Dilaudid (although with it's half-life it shouldn't have been very pronounced), or perhaps a reaction to the natural Anandamide being unblocked. I've been at it for years, and I haven't totaled my dose in awhile... as it moves around based on tolerance and cannabis holidays. I'm a big guy (sadly made bigger by being immobilized!) and I've done as much as 500mg in one sitting, but that is not the norm for me, I use it as part of a mix of approaches.

Cancer sucks! My condolences to those of you who have it or with family members who have it.

Thankfully I don't know anyone on either my mother's or father's side who has cancer. My cousin's dog got cancer, but I didn't know about RSO yet to try it out. I've only read up on it, but am prepared with the knowledge should someone I love have it. Especially so if they don't take their daily thc vitamins to ward it off.

If you guys are interested in learning how to make RSO read this:

And there'es some talk on the forums already, here: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/rick-simpson-oil.8891/

It's almost the same as making QWISO.

@looney2nz, thank you so much for the fantastic response. So much great information. Need to read up on CO2 extraction and what labs or companies are using.

@thisperson, thanks for kind words and helpful information. What amazes me is how much cannabis is required to concentrate down to such a small dose.

@Fat Freddy, this is a great site for information and treatment of myeloma. We have been on site researching. Are you moving forward with RSO or equilavent type treatment?

We are meeting tonight with one of my her children to go over the studies, research and information that I have collected and you all have provided. Want to try and educate her and determine how/if we move forward. I will keep you updated.

Freddy, new to posting in forums, want to follow proper etiquette. I can start new thread if you think best.

People suffering from this, should have it available in their treatment arsenal. Frustrating!

Glad you found the site helpful. To date I've not pursued treatment with RSO or equivalent.

Freddy, here's hopin' your state becomes medical legal -=-soon-=-

Have to find the 'rules of the road' pinned post, anyone know if you can name a brand on consumables?

ok, I cruised around looking for a clue on this, and it looks kosher... apologies to moderators in advance if it's not and I missed the pinned note somewhere. Ahah... can't upload images from my local drive, so I have to post it somewhere first and provide a link, ok, this is behind a fairly elaborate CAPCHA system to make sure you're not a bot and abuse their system (fair enough!):

This should give an idea of what you can pull out of a good strain with SuperCritical CO2 process, and the kind of labs we should eventually be seeing on damn near everything.
This is from PopNaturals.com, and they have an impressive array of organic strains with full labs (and I mean full).
Freddy, they have an AC/DC concentrate, if your state is CBD friendly it might qualify.
Last labs I saw on it was 0.74% THC (the threshold for industrial hemp is 3%), and if you supplement that with whatever you're finding locally WITH THC, you can shoot for a 2-1 or 1-1 ratio?

I got through their CAPCHA, but their AC/DC isn't as low in THC as the strains I've used in the past. It's more like a Cannatonic, around a 4-1 ratio. So it wouldn't be legal for Freddy :(

I'm currently about 8 months in remission from stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma
I take high CBD oil in the day and high THC at night.
I do not know if it has actually helped me cuz I have had so much cancer treatment over the last couple years but I will continue to take it.
I'm lucky to live in a cannabis friendly place and know a few people in the industry who help me immensely. I couldn't imagine going through my treatments without cannabis.

My thoughts are with all of you who are suffering.
Mine are, too.

I'm a cancer survivor at this point. My lower right lung lobe was removed in 2010. Apparently, some cells escaped prior to surgery and lay dormant in a lymph node until 2013. Their activity showed up in blood tests and scans so the node was removed, then 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. Hopefully, nothing was able to hide from the chemo. Just "graduated" from seeing the oncologist every 3 months to every 6 months.

I, too, am a cancer survivor and am still battling this insidious disease.

I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in April 2011 and soon after had my prostate removed. I remember hoping that would be the end of it. Unfortunately, the surgeon didn't get it all and some cancer was left behind that continued to grow, albeit slowly. By April of this year, the cancer had progressed enough that it was time for another attempt to kill it off. I recently completed 8 weeks of daily radiation treatments (Mon thru Fri) to try and target / kill the residual cancer in the area where my prostate used to be. I just had my latest blood-PSA serum test earlier this week and it will be another week until I get the results. I'm hoping for the best.

I sure hope your levels are good. The time between when blood is drawn and when results come in is always so stressful!

Hey @looney2nz,

Sorry to hear about your dx. So are you saying that you are still 'smoldering'? If so, the longer you sustain at that level the better your long term prognosis...but you no doubt already are aware of that.

Yep, the immunomodulatory therapies hold great promise...for most cancers I think. What treatments have you had so far?

Are you in a legal state? I envy those who are! I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet from treatment with Bortezomib and depend on both oxydocon and cannabis to manage it...both substances are getting harder and harder to obtain in my neck of the woods. Doctors are afraid to prescribe opioids due to the DEA threats and it seems cannabis is difficult to hook up with at my age, or at least, to find a reliable source. It's all just fucking bizarre! If you develop chronic pain in this country you're pretty much on your own, it seems.

Good luck with your blood work...keep us posted!

FF

.

Got my labs back! The way I've felt the last quarter, I felt sure he was gonna say 'chemo'...
I dropped Igg around 120 points (which is nothing) and that satisfied the doc that I was still 'stable' (and still 'smoldering'.)

I increased my dosage quite a bit in the last quarter... I just wish I was up to making my own edibles still, it would things so much easier. I made some insanely potent edibles!

@looney2nz , great news on labs and no chemo.

Finally, had a chance to go over with my cousin, the medical studies on cannabis treatments for MM. She was kind of shocked that this has not been brought up by any of the doctors. They see the potential benefits, but the logistics and risk of getting her the medication is causing understandable concern. So very frustrating, to have this available, but it's not.

My prayers to everyone.

It is a great day for freedom! Freedom from cancer!

Got my latest PSA results today, the first test after completing 8 weeks of daily radiation treatments this past April.

My PSA is UNDETECTABLE !!! It doesn't get any better that that.

This weekend, I will be celebrating my independence from cancer!
