Hey do any of you guys have a small and compact case for your crafty? I'm looking for something that's relatively the same dimensions as the crafty, as that's all that I want to fit in the case. I thought the Pelican 1010 was perfect but realized it's too thick/tall for me. Help!?

You could go hard shell style like Lowepro Santiago 20, about $10

Or soft, neoprene style. Sweet form fitting custom Crafty neoprene case available on Etsy.

Pricey, but it would slip into jeans pocket well, reducing chance of damaging Crafty fins when pulling from pocket.

Slightly less pricey neoprene case with front pocket for a few capsules:

I have this one. But too thick for easy jean pocket use.

Or be brave and bring your Crafty to a big box store and try some cheap cases for fit. Difficult to explain if caught, however...

I've only tried two of @ChooChooCharlie's capsules but I didn't find them too tough to open.

Although I don't care about clouds, it does seem that the vapor is a bit hotter and absolutely produces bigger clouds. It seems that the flower I used was ground a bit finer than I realized because there was abv resting on the top of the capsule when I twisted off the CU. Not a big deal, I just didn't expect it

The capsules are smaller than I expected but the effects were good with the constrained load.

I have been loving the capsules. I have only been rotating between two capsules and they are standing up amazingly well. Probably have closed to 50 uses on one of them. Once in a while just use some ISO to clean them. I use large grind in them and I see no difference between using the capsule and not using it. And I like the fact it holds less.

Hi @Mr Mellish - hope readers don't think I made them :)
Glad you have the chance to try them and post here!
These remarks below are for other readers, not for you specifically.

Everyone's experience can be different depending on herb, grind, weight.
Don't think heat could increase using caps. But don't think that's what you meant.
Even though I'm a relative newbie here, I know enough not to utter the "C words"
(a dead horse whose names must not be spoken)

About the tiny specks of ABV after a session -- think they were there all along using Crafty stock. Just couldn't differentiate them from their neighbors. When you dump the hot capsule onto a safe surface like an ashtray, you will notice tiny ABV particle leakage as well. Here's pic for readers to see what we're discussing:
bQnEv3dl.jpg

I did rough estimate, and think the air speeds up nearly six times at the point of passage through capsule holes. Any small particles near holes will probably get sucked through with that sudden air speed increase.
Used these rough measurements: radius of capsule = 7mm, radius of holes = 0.5mm, with 33 holes.
Here's a fascinating :) vid lesson on continuity equation.
Not exactly what you'd call a "good vid to watch when vaked"

Thanks again for the kind words @Mr Mellish
Folks like you here on FC are generous with their time, sharing experiences!

Great community here in this thread! Extremely positive, insightful, and helpful. I've been neglecting this Crafty thread since i joined because I've been testing/using a Vapman for the past two weeks... I must say, i didnt think any vape could make me put my Crafty down, but the control, durability, efficiency, potency, smaller bowls, no battery issues which gives the ability to withstand back to back to back to back and shorter session's have won me over... Vapman however isn't built for every situation. Crafty wins in flavour, discreetness and smoothness of vapor department! I love my Crafty dont get me wrong, its my first love, but its limitations dissapoint and detract from its supreme prowess!

What I've learned and appreciate is that yall have confirmed for me that s&b will allow for an upgrade to the Mighty, which is awesome! My next warranty claim I'll definitely make that switch, i will be sad at losing the size for discretion, but i'd rather the stronger more reliable product... I was also on the fence about the dosing capsules, but after so much positive feedback i see they would increase efficiency allow for shorter sessions, and make loading on the go a breeze!

@ligi besides increased compatibility with android devices, what other benefits, options, or information is gained with your app?

@Vambo1980 :clap:wow. 500 hrs. You sir are the motherf#&*ing Man! I'd just like to know how your crafty performs after modifying. Does it ever overheat? Are you able to do back to back session's without issue? Is your battey life improved/do you swap your battery?..... Have you ever outfitted anyone elses Crafty for a fee?? Would be amazing to have the confidence that ones Craft will last beyond 500 hours!! Have you ever sent pictures to S&B showing them your milestone? If not, why?!....

Thanks alot. The community here at FC is incredible. Probably the best I've experienced on the net.

Thanks, Nuff love

Hi, and welcome!
Hope you have good luck if/when you make transition to Mighty. I did that upgrade and have zero regrets.

Legendary @Vambo1980 has told us in the past that he's a busy fellow, with startup business and growing family, so he has not jobbed out Crafty service, at least not as far as we know here. He does honor us with an update (500 hrs!) every so often.
He has told us that he's swapped the battery several times. Has eliminated overheating by relocating a thermal sensor a little away from the surface of the battery. And increased reliability by soldering battery connection that was formerly plugged on to circuit board. These are the pertinent things I recall.
You can click on his name and find all of his posted content if you'd like to stroll down memory lane and learn a bit more.

Hope @Vambo1980 doesn't mind being a topic of our discussion, but after all, there is the legend thing...

@vapviking thank you. I appreciate your response. I would i had the understanding and the balls to attempt such modifications. I feel like we should all send emails to S&B flooding them with said knowledge in the hopes for more reliable Craftys' and Mightys' in the future. I fear the day my warranty is up and I'll need to spend another arm and leg for a new one!

'Quasi plug-in' is just a term I used for it. S&B says you can use Mighty plugged in even when the batteries are depleted. But it does not have what's referred to as true pass-thru charging. A pass thru piece can both operate as device and charge battery at the same time.

If you plug Mighty in and turn it on when it's down a bar or two, you can see that the bars stay on (not blinking) until temp is reached (battery is being depleted by use), then bars begin to blink, charging only in-between the pulses of heat that keep Mighty in proper temp range. On balance, the charging goes faster than the depletion, so eventually all the bars look full.

If you use Mighty plugged in while it's already fully charged, you don't even see a bar disappear or any blinking, it seems to ride right near a topped off level. I think it is still cycling between heat and charge, but not enough differential to makes lights say anything more than "I'm full!"
One user was told by S&B rep that this plugged in use while fully charged is a good practice.

Other battery-heads seem to recommend that these batteries like to be maintained between about 20% and 80%. In Crafty, that would take a lot of user attention and given what I already said about Crafty not keeping up with my use, I abandoned most 'good practice' about charging. Not that I'm an angel with Mighty, I tend to keep it plugged in a lot, and use it plugged in about 70% of the time.
btw, I don't think my charging habits had much, if anything, to do with the eventual failures of my Crafty's.

Now I've talked down the Crafty too much here and it's not the Mighty thread so I'll stop.

Sorry to bring on the buyer's remorse there, @dusdat . Or is it just a subset case of VAS? Some folks just have both Crafty and Mighty!

Idk what your chance of exchange is, gut feeling is that your better option may come on a warranty exchange. I once asked about upgrade and they only offered a $100 discount on Mighty if I wanted to exchange my 4 month old Crafty that needed a battery. I chose to replace the battery for 50 bucks (that's gone up). Or possibly selling Crafty privately. There is a classified 'thread' here at FC.
Meantime, enjoy the ride, these thing work great!
Edit: I just noticed @dusdat that your purchase was from Amazon. I have no idea what your return or exchange options might be!

Thank you for your response.
I exchanged my Crafty; it wasn't a big issue at all at Amazon (I returned it and got my money back and purchased the Mighty).
The delivery for my Mighty is planned for today, real excited about this!
When it arrives I'll first charge it max, after that I think I'll be trying do to the same like you described. I'll just keep it plugged in most of the time (when its possible).
Do you use your Mighty often on the go?

that was my last mighty question in the crafty thread, after this I'll move to the mighty thread ;)

Yes I do use it on the go.
The dosing capsules are very convenient for that.

The Mighty's black label is highly visible, unlike Crafty's, and it scratches easily. A tip I've read (too late for me, but yours is new) is to protect it with clear contact sheet - I assume like the medical kind like they put on the handles of the dentist's light and such.
Enjoy! See you in the Mighty thread.

p.s. I want to thank @biohacker for the information he got from S&B and shared, about using the Mighty plugged in and fully charged.

idk what a clean contact sheet is, where can I buy that?

The Crafty is a powerful SESSION Vaporizer that unfortunately does not have enough battery -_-
it is better for single use due to the battery. quite Ironic but we can't get the best of both worlds.

Mighty is just too big for me. Battery technology should improve.

idk where.
Hey, go ask some Mighty peeps! ;)

ps, when I do take it out, it's usually in the car or to some relatively benign, clean situation so I only use a fabric sunglasses bag for the Mighty and now caps magazine; folks in Mighty thread may have some more protective suggestions. Usually don't bring a charger for day trips, one charge will get through a whole mag of 8 caps (probably more than that for me, as sessions are quick due to pretty high temps I'm vaping at (396-400C) and the ability to hot swap the caps really extends battery.

I use the Mighty vapecase. It's a hard plastic airtight case. It has room for the mighty, charger, grinder, brush, filling piece and whatever you can fit inside. It's not for carrying the Mighty in your pocket as it's a big case but it's great for storing at home and bringing in the car.

p.s. I want to thank @biohacker for the information he got from S&B and shared, about using the Mighty plugged in and fully charged.

I guess there isn't any label out there which was more abused than the one on my first mighty. Since then I used to cut protective films from the mobile phone industry in shape which is fiddly but works pretty good and is nearly invisible if done right. I didn't find any better solution yet.
Everybody should scratch their sticker down until the serial is completely unreadable. I bet S&B would improve the quality pretty fast. I ranted about this in every RMA when I had to send one of my units back, but so far no change has been done... But who am I? Sadly not Markus Storz himself...
Some of you might remember the very first units with the unscratchable labels, I don't know why they exchanged them for cheaper ones (perhaps because they are cheaper?).

There was quite a long discussion about pass-through charging on the mighty thread which came up several times. Some members were pointing out much more than one technical reason why not to use and charge the mighty at the same time. While I respect @biohacker and his opinion very much, I suppose he has been given at least a partial wrong information. Engineers at S&B are restricted by physical limits like every other company working with rechargeable batteries. Sadly it's nearly impossible to have direct contact with a S&B technician to source more information about the bypass vs pass-through charging. I might give it a try to reach somebody with technical skills on the next RMA since Crafty is waiting for a repair (again). The very polite people only answering emails or the phone hadn't had a technical formation which was obvious to me each time I called there to get some more information. They know the technical specifications from the homepage, not because they are engineers involved in the R&D I would suppose. S&B is a pretty big company and not everyone working there has a deeper technical understanding.
Even if the mighty could have a true power management being able to bypass the batteries (what he has not imo), it's not going to extend the battery life if you constantly keep them charging while the unit is hot. I'm not saying it's gonna kill your unit instantly. Probably it will bite the dust because of something else than the batteries anyways. For my part, I charge when needed or when I feel like. I don't care if the unit is hot or laying in the car on a sunny day neither. And I can still get 6 bowls from a full charge... The recent Mighty died because of a broken power button anyways. I don't even mention the chipped housing any more...

@Michel so best thing would be to cut some protective screenguard (for smartphones) and put that over the label on the back?

how do you take it with you if you're on the go? little sleeve or so?

I store my Crafty in a small RYOT Rat Pack (I think that's the model name). The Crafty fits in it like a glove, and it's smell proof. Just enough room for the brush and a salt spoon. Not sure what size works for the Mighty, but it's a real winner, and not expensive. I think I got mine on Amazon.

I would not assume that a cell phone screen protector is 'the best thing'. But it may be.
Someone in Mighty thread may have a different option to offer.
I had suggested a type of clear 'contact sheet' but I don't know what it's really called nor where to get any. I'm thinking of the stuff in dentists' treatment room, like on the handles of his lights and other appliances - they put this stuff on that's like a real thick cling wrap. No adhesives used.

I tried the capsules layered with shatter and it was way harsher than layering without a capsule. I find the capsules feel a little hotter to vape
