What's the price tag?
tentatively the price is $250 for the unit, battery pack, charger, power supply, stem and cup screens(2). I am going to stick to that price for the first production run of 15 units after that I may have to adjust the price, depends on how long everything takes. I know my material costs but the time is just an estimate. I have about 8 people that want in so those 15 are moving pretty fast right now. Anyone interested can email me at info@mistvaporizer.com and I'll put you on the list.

It might be worth it to make it work with 18650 batteries.
looked at the 18650 batteries and to adapt the MistVape to use these would not be trivial. The amperage is higher which would require modification to the elements on the circuit board and probably a redesign of the heater coil. Also the retail price of these is not much better than the batteries I'm using. I expect to be able to offer replacement packs for under $30 which is not far off the retail price of three 18650s

A quick question: Is there something, except the battery pack, which could fail and need to be replaced after extended use (i.e heating element, software, internals,...)?

Do you recommand a step down converter (230 to 110v) or only a plug adaptater (I live in france, you told me something about that but it wasn't clear)?

Can't wait to test it!

I don't know that much about step down vs plug in adapter for conversion from 230 to 110, mrweed used to be active in the forum. He tested early MistVapes. I'll try to contact him.
As far as parts that could fail I have early prototypes that are still working after many years. The heating element could give out I imagine but I haven't had one go yet. The circuit is all digital so if it isn't soaked in water or exposed to the wrong voltage it should be fine. The heater chamber is a glass tube so strong impact could break the glass. I haven't actually broken any yet but at some point will test the unit to find how hard it is to break.
With reasonable care I expect the unit will give years of service.

Still using this as my daily driver, it's crazy how quick it works and how astonishing the production can be. I've been testing battery and still am not confident about it. It seems to definitely last 5-8+ sessions but I only had herb for two weeks of testing and most of my usage has been with oils on setting 4+.

When I use the battery the unit seems to stay on too long but I need to test more. I definitely feel the power supply gives a better experience with the quicker heat up and more consistent heat times.

With the battery I sometimes feel I may not be getting as much heat but it is probably because I'm not waiting long enough. I don't like keeping the unit on for more than a minute, but it seems that results are better when the unit has just been running for a while.

I really wish I could sit it up when its plugged. I always find myself setting it on the edge of the desk and knocking it down. I dislike that my stems aren't lock on or even slightly hands free.

Honestly I wouldn't recommend this vape as a portable. It's convenient as a portable desktop but should be considered at best a desktop with a battery option for emergencies.

The benefit of 18650s is that you wouldn't have to always provide batteries. Most people would prefer to source their own.

Yeah I agree as I think of it more as a mini desktop (especially since my batteries didn't work anyway) and makes sense for my useage too. I liked the old style with the oven on the front for that reason too, but now I just lie it down with the oven facing sideways and it seems fine (without a stem in, I remove it after every hit anyway). My useage was still 1-3 really, really using the low temps and with enough sessions back to back and a long slow draw you really can get thorough extraction and nice clouds without the higher temps, smoother tastier hits too. The heater and temps are great

@paytonpenn why can't you recommend this as a portable? Too big? Seems it works pretty good with very nice battery life.
In the rush to get the tester units out I didn't thoroughly test the battery for @Shit Snacks and @Buildozer and they are both having issues with the battery not working. All future units will be tested with the battery.

I'll be honest, just looking at it, I wouldn't use it as a portable. Looks to big and awkward to carry and use while out and about. Looks like it would be better used on the desktop.

Exactly, it's not big but for a portable it is, especially with the long stems I have. That shorty wooden stem should make it more of a portable but the form factor is still not ideal for full mobility out and about. However the performance does make it worth compromising for potentially, like Grasshopper is way more portable but Mist performance is probably superior in my experience so far

Its mentioned now. But I agree, it's not too big to take out of the house. It also has good life. Unfortunately I wouldn't be caught dead using a long or even short exposed glass stem. It doesn't lock on so I need two hands to operate. It just seems best as a desktop to bring to your friends place.

Maybe consider a mouthpiece/stem designed to look like atomizer.

I honestly feel more comfortable using the Hammer in public than Mist.

Yeah compared to say Arizer Air/Solo the stem seats in very secure and the body is a smaller cylinder, but Mist has much much better performance. Compared to Milaana the stems are semi secure with male-female GonG connection, and the body fits concealed in the palm (plus the trigger really helps a lot imo), but Mist gives you temp control and a more regulated automatic experience vs manual analog style there. Wouldnt be too good for the car bc of two handed use with the stems, Milaana is great for the car, I've considered trying Mist there since I have an outlet in the car, but I think it could be a bit unsafe actually

no offense but I don't want anyone using the MistVape in their car while their driving. That's a bit nuts, I guess I would have when I was 17 but I was pretty stupid back then.
A drive without vaping?

I see so many people smoking cigarettes in their car, is the issue suspected effects?

I normally use the MistVape with my power inverter on my ways to and from work. The picture I posted on the page back with the grassHopper mouthpiece is how I normally use it when out.

While I do use it in the car often, I'm definitely more comfortable with my Firewood or grassHopper for the situation.

yep I'm showing my age, I never vape when I'm going to be driving. But then I can't vape early in the day or I'm asleep all day. When I was 20 I did a doobie first thing when I woke up. Back then I could keep up @paytonpenn, not anymore.
I quit smoking cigarette by just doing joints whenever the smoking urge hit, worked by the way. Lucky for me I had enough herb to take care of that.
Also I don't text while I drive and only check my phone when I doing gps. When I was 13 I was almost killed by a drunk driver, I spent 14 days in the hospital - broken leg and collar bone, almost broken back. So I'm a bit sensitive about impaired driving even though I think I drove safer stoned just because I slowed down. The MistVape doesn't come with a car plug in on purpose :-)

Yeah I don't know about smoking, but vaping makes it very easy to get a controlled functional high and makes dealing with traffic a hell of a lot easier. It can help with focus on the road but also deter, double edged sword really. But yeah texting and driving kills, please people only at a red light ;) Stay safe out there

I've standardized the temp setting protocol. Now using an air pump to push the hot air through the heater and then into a stem with a thermocouple in. Temp is measure with a Cole-Parmer digital thermometer.
The air pump pushes 2 liters per minute, a wimpy inhale but great for measuring. I have a tube that fits snugly into the air inlet and use it to pump the air in.
Pics aren't posting for some reason, see

Th e top pic is the thermocouple in a stem. The cup screen has been modified to hold the thermocouple in the center of the stem.
Bottom pic shows the air inlet with a hose going to the air pump and the digital thermometer reading from the thermocouple in the stem.
Gotta give credit to @paytonpenn he suggested the air pump a long time ago but I never moved on it. Having 15 units to set up I really need to do this quickly and accurately. While it might be a great job I don't have the stamina to run herb through ever unit so this is a great way to get consistent temp settings.
I'll try to post video of the actual temp readings, they are very stable.

here is a shot of abv. The left is the raw herb, the right the abv. This was vaped in the MistVape set at 3 using a GonG stem and direct draw.
fCqygq7.jpg

This gave about 4 good clouds of medium density vapor. There is probably another hit or two.
Looking at the set up @paytonpenn showed us with the glass insert and silicone rubber seal. I ordered some high temp medical grade silicone tubing rated for 500F continuous use. Thinking of making 2 1/4 inch long stem with a wood mouthpiece.
Thoughts on the length of the shorty stem? I personally don't like shorties at higher temps, but that's my preference.

The GonG stem that comes with the MistVape can comfortably hold 0.1 g on the high end but you can do 0.05 g
I generally load the stem and then tamp it down a bit.
The current batch of MistVapes is in QC, I am testing the temps and looking for the optimal temp setting. Also physically testing for vapor production. Testing five at a time. I think when the first five are set the rest will fall in line. I'm spending a lot of time standardizing the testing and settling on a temp profile, I want to model things on the prototypes I sent out. Since the temp setting protocol is new and standardized it is taking more time than I expected.

That is a tiny amount. So this vape would be perfect for micro dosing.

It absolutely is, even the earlier prototypes were as well, lower temps you can get many many hits off the tiniest amounts. With even greater temp precision this should only improve, under .05g even possible probably, too small to weigh
