Vapman

Thanks for the sympathy yall, I think I might be able to trade some stuff I have soon, so I could get a vapman back in action. I did use my backup one for sure, my backup one was actually my first one, they dind't have the color i want, so when I bought my vapman station, I got the color I wanted :)

That's the one that still might be around the house somewhere lucily.

I have to admit, i've been test running the lsv vs the EV2 all day (two major heavy hitters), so i read the last few pages (Again, apologies for shitting up the thread with all my bitching) but you guys know if new Vapmans come with the ss washer pre installed? If it's been answered someone can call me out lol.

but you guys it best- the vapman is the hardest vap to be without!

Hope it picks up for you bud, have you still not used your backup VM? I need to get a backup of the new style, a stainless washer too...

I'd be gutted without my vapman, one of the only vapes to stay in my rotation regularly. Took it fishing yesterday, was actually a poor choice since I was fishing for cats with punchbait.. The intimacy of the VM ritual is one of my favorite features, but i'm afraid a bit of the magic is lost among stinky fingers.

young jedi this is why us wilderness folk have solos in beer cozies with the stash jar in the little bit of extra leftover space.

did i blow your mind!?!?!!?!?

so i'm almost at a weeks use. when i was in search of a backup vape to compliment my Crafty during its first warranty claim, i ended up going with the AAir. i'm not mad at that decision, I like the Air. However, had I known about Vapman, I wouldn't have purchased the Air. wouldn't have been neccessary. Its fun to add new toys to the mix, but the Crafty is incredible and the Vapman is amazing. These two alone fulfill my different vape requirements..

A week ago i was on the fence because my first desire was for a Lotus. Now in retrospect, i'm overjoyed i got the vapman over the Lotus. Its easily more inconspicuous plus lighting then toking draws far less attention. Instead of a Lotus when i'm ready to expand the collection, I think i'd rather invest in an ebony or chocolate walnut, personalized Vapman. The added level of personalizing ones Vapman is awesome and unprecedented in this culture no? also makes for a most intimate, special gift! @vapman do you still make ebony Vapmans?? if so, i'd appreciate being added to the waiting list (if there is a list) along with pricing. Most definately a collectors item....

before i forget. after a week wear and tear has been slight. my only issue is the mouthpiece. i have a plum tree mouthpiece, at the tip is losing its colour due to usage. can't really get around that as the mouthpiece didn't have a coating, or varnish, so its like as i vape i'm also drawing the pigment out of the plumtree. any reccomendations?

Thanks

@Chandler I will make ebony vapmans again, the wood is ordered but not here yet. Can't tell you, when they will be ready, I am careful and promise to have some before Xmas.

I don't think you are drawing any pigments out of the plum tree mouthpiece, the wood is more likely to change its color due to getting wet. Most woods change their color after being wet, this is just a very natural process and nothing to worry about. In this regard, box tree is ideal, very dense and it doesn't change its color, my favorite wood for mouthpieces.

That is a sweet setup @The Beagle.

Looks like an Alchemist chemistry set. Really cool.

All new Basics come with the heat ring and the bigger bore. Mine and the the vapman's.

You can remove the bowl without removing the air tubed, but you need good fine motor skills and patience.

Use an exacto knife with a brand new blade.

Remove the three airtime screws and brackets.

Then start patiently cutting the inside of the bowl with the exact, a bit at at a time, letting the bowl swivel around. Be careful not to scratch the bowl or air tunes...

Keep going until you can push the bowl through the hole.

It's a delicate and time consuming process, but it's how I used to do all my two-tone and dark chocolate vapmans until I convinced René to make them with the bigger bore.

Now, the big bore Basics are a game changer since we can ship a bowl with air tunes installed and anyone can easily replace them with only a screw driver.

Hope this helps.

Edit: @Chandler, if you got the mouthpiece from me, I buff them with my Beeswax + Jojoba paste which makes the color get a bit darker and shows off the wood grain nicer. Maybe it needs some more buffing at the tip?

You can buff it with Beeswax or whatever you like to see if it helps.

@vapman i appreciate your response! I look forward to having a special edition 2016 ebony vapman in my hands for the upcoming new year! :D Soon as you need to start filling orders let me know, I'm ready/ I'll be ready!! Please don't forget about me :)
Box tree? Hmm. I'll remember that as well. Do ebony mouthpieces also lose colour?

Nice! Eventually, i need to purchase ss washers, ss concentrate pads, a black egg case, and a box tree stem! Lol. When i have a design in mind, i may also require a personalized chocolate vapman..... I'll be in touch!

Hello, I have had my vapman for about 4 years now, it's my only vape and I love it. But saddly it fell and the heating chamber separeted from the legs, I tried to put it back together but apparently you need some special tool. Isn't there any other way to fix it than to send it to europe? I live in brazil so I believe it would get quite expensive. I dont know if there is any kind of glue that can take such heat, maybe soldering? :/
I've been assembling it everytime I use it, it works fine, just a pain.
Thanks.

Closer, but still not practical? If the OP is resourceful he might be able to stake the tubes back in (it doesn't have to be perfect like when new) otherwise it may be time to put the VM out to pasture after solid service and buy it's replacement? That way you only have to deal with shipping 'one way'.........

You should be able to do a pretty good job if you're careful and a bit handy by nature. There's a video out there of 'making the Vapman' that shows the step. As understand it a 1mm pin with shoulder necking down to .8mm catches a lip inside the tubes 'high up' and supports the bore of the tube from collapse as it's staked ('flared') out on the inside with a small punch and light touch. Parts are moved around so each tube is vertical when it's punched.

While the pilot section would be nice, I suspect you can live without it. That is use a closely fitting, 1mm pin with a square end and no pilot. Most of the work needed to deform metal has been done, hopefully you can bump it a bit more without damage. I'd probably hit it 4 or 5 times shifting the punch a bit in a 'star pattern' between taps. Maybe a piece of Piano Wire or even a shank from a safety pin for the mandril?

A man really needs a VM......more than a FF.......

I see way more people bringing up the firefly as an alternative on this thread than any of the others I watch. Is it somehow similar or something? I doubt it with convection vs conduction and all that lol  just curious? Anyways I still love VapMan! He works great and I think every vaporists should get the chance to use this amazing vape. Ebony?? That is something I gotta look out for

@Oogendoogan Umm. I have no idea what kind. Its a nice brown solid 3g chunk... I'm thinking it should be absorbed into the herbs, at most making a lil mess in the top section. I'm dying to try. Just hate making a mess, and I'm not ready to be taking the top section apart to clean out gunk! Maybe herb, hash, herb..... I'm bout to try it out

maybe thats because there is some sort of a "ritual" to vape with both these vapes, its not totaly automatic.

Right on and it's a new one that has interest anyways I suppose. Wish I could try one.. I'll stick with my millaana for electric analog hits lol. Anyone reading this go ahead and give that a look. Don't want to catch hate lol. The FF2 looks nice, just smaller and very similar to my milaana at least in function. FF2 is more refined forsure but press a button get convection they are similar haha. I love my VapMan for the same reason I love the milaana, I guess that scentence should be the other way around because VapMan came first but it really is the ritual that I love with both of those vapes. I am inspired to break out my VapMan and vape to bed now:zzz:
Cheers FC
Stay vaped :peace::leaf:

Hi vapman'iacs, not shure if someone ever mentioned it before, but if you got the grasshopper silicone mouthpiece, you must try it on the vapman!

It will close all 3 holes and stop at the inner edge (if that make sence), it seems to be made for it!!
I'm using it this way mostly with my ROOR classic bubbler without water.
It Looks really nice when the vapor hits the bottom and waves its way upwarts on the walls.

The taste is also nice and sweet, just try it :brow::rockon::tup:

Sounds like a good tip on an easy experiment for those who have the part.

However, the same experiment can very easily be done with tape. Like 'Scotch tape'. Or ends of toothpicks. I think I'm safe saying all (certainly most) of us that tried this idea (plugging holes) came back to the system René settled on (3 original holes open).

Those so inclined should, of course, experiment. But no need for a special cover from GH if you have some household tape or toothpicks handy? And can be more easily modified (1 or 2 holes blocked for instance).

Of course you are right @OF, absolutely no need to cover the holes! The Vapman works best (in my opinion) as its made.
I'm not only using it this way, in fact I didnt used it with all holes covered before.
Just wanted to point out that it is amazing how many parts of different vapes fit together!
For example the thick red silicone ring from the Cera (used to addapt the Cera to 18mm glass) works also great on the Vapman without covering the holes.
I pressed it gently in my 18mm J-hook or an 18-14mm reducer to fit my ROOR bubbler.
